Sent by my GP
As my face on one side has swollen up very badly
Gp said he was worried about sepsis
Definitely wanted a blood test
Said I probably needed IV antibiotics

No itching so not been bitten
No tooth/gum problems
No ones punched me

Guesses?

Try to catch doctors attention as you might have been missed by accident. It happens. Especially as you're feeling worse.

Even if you just ask for a sick bowl that might help you get noticed and possibly moved up the queue

What would happen if you fainted? Is there an emergency buzzer anywhere? I get the impression that you’re loath to make anything that could be remotely thought of as “a fuss” hence you taking days to even return to hospital and also you to sit around feeling worse and risking severe infection or illness just out of politeness. Get your big girl pants pulled up and either walk back to A and E despite “them” (who?) not letting you or knock on the door of the Drs room and say “I feel really unwell and I’m sorry to interrupt but I am seriously worried and need to be seen now”.

Be proactive OP. Intercept the next staff member you see and tell them you're feeling really unwell. Honestly you're making a bit of a song and dance about getting the help you obviously need.

Mistakes happen and people get forgotten and left of the list. Speak to someone and tell them you feel worse.

There must be an intercom or some way to contact someone. They can't lock you in a room - what if someone had a heart attack or a seizure?

It's a huge room

About 5 minutes walk from A and E through a locked door - it's one way - if you go back to A and E someone takes you through there

Can you knock on the door for attention?

Might set alarms off, then you might get some attention!

In that case, the fire alarm will go off soon and your be escorted out

It sounds ridiculous tbh and for the smoking alone I’d be knocking on the door of the drs and asking for security to remove the smoker and for some attention to be given. Or look up the A and E phone number Online and call them from the waiting area you’re in... and next time don’t wait so bloody long.

Nothing happened - he stopped smoking and put it out

No staff turned up, no sprinklers came on

I'm really not going to call A and E from my phone when they're the ones that sent me to Urgent Care

No one has been seen in the last 40 plus minutes

Make sure you have a list of your symptoms and that they know you’re feeling sick now as well. I would make a physical list on my phone so i don’t forget anything. don’t downplay anything because you feel bad about being there.

It may well turn out to be fine, but doesn’t mean it couldn’t have been much more serious.

I’d also try and knock on any door to say you are feeling sick and hot, and ask for a sick bowl. Might get you seen quicker!
