Who wants a guess (for fun) whether I will get kept in hospital

LaurieFairyCake · 25/07/2020 13:04

and obviously lighthearted as probably not going to die

I'm in A and E
Sent by my GP
As my face on one side has swollen up very badly
Gp said he was worried about sepsis
Definitely wanted a blood test
Said I probably needed IV antibiotics

No itching so not been bitten
No tooth/gum problems
No ones punched me Grin

Guesses?

Thank god you're going back. I know someone who's faved swelled up like that. He went home with antibiotics and it got worse over a few days, the infection went behind his eye and he almost lost sight in one eye. He had to have emergency surgery to save his sight.

secretnurse · 27/07/2020 22:59

Thank god, A&E nurse here and that looks nasty!!!

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 27/07/2020 23:05

Hope you're at the hospital now!!!

Thank fuck you're going to A&E. that needs some heavy duty ABs.

Twilbury · 27/07/2020 23:17

Phew!
Good luck .

dontdillydallytoolong · 27/07/2020 23:18

Ouch. That is very swollen. 🕷 bite? Hope you feel better soon.

justasking111 · 27/07/2020 23:22

You poor thing. Hope you get seen soon.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/07/2020 23:39

I'm here (again) Grin- been cleared for Non Covid at door and waiting now to be called by nurse.

Could we return to my very first lighthearted question 3 days ago if anyone is still up?

Am I getting kept in or not....

OP posts:
verypeckish · 27/07/2020 23:42

You might be, although I hope it's nothing to worry about and they do send you home.

I had similar and they kept me in and on a drip for three days.

NancyNoNickers · 27/07/2020 23:43

Nah maybe overnight-glad you went, I would’ve been freaking out by now in case my fave never returned to normal! Do you think a spider has laid eggs inside your cheek?

DramaAlpaca · 27/07/2020 23:43

Eek that looks nasty. Glad you've seen sense decided to back to A&E.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/07/2020 23:45

I reckon you’ll be on their list of potential troublemakers so they will call you into triage then send you to UC then back to A&E then off to x ray then back to A&E then...

You should start singing the Proclaimers now cos it’s going to seem like 500 miles

LaurieFairyCake · 27/07/2020 23:48

I'm now waiting for the miraculous effects of A and E to make me be time wasting - as has happened every other time I've had to come back for the second time

I actually think it's not going to happen this time as I feel like utter bollocks

Been sent to Urgent Care (to see the GP) - guessing he's going to send me for blood test - bit of a queue here

The nurse outside asked why I decided to come on a Mondat night (probably working out if I'm time wasting as lots of people go late on as tv is crap) and I said because I wanted to give them a chance to work

OP posts:
LaurieFairyCake · 27/07/2020 23:52

And no I don't think a spider has laid eggs inside my face Shock

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/07/2020 23:52

You didn’t tell her that the MN massive had booted you up the arse to go then Hmm

Good I really hope it hasn’t-sorry to hear you’re feeling crap, didn’t think you felt too bad but of course I hope you get seen to and sorted soon, and are okFlowers

ineedaholidaynow · 27/07/2020 23:55

Hope you get treated soon @LaurieFairyCake. I was holding my breath at one point reading this thread hoping you would go back to A&E.

josiejj · 28/07/2020 00:00

Hi OP, a&e doc here, well done for going back! You definitely need reassessing for IV abx

Icanflyhigh · 28/07/2020 00:02

To answer your question, yes I think they might keep you in! But if that is where you need to be, then so be it.
Get well soon x

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/07/2020 00:03

Think of it this way, it’s like a live action version of 24 hours in A&E (or Dante’s Inferno if too many drunks arrive).

LaurieFairyCake · 28/07/2020 00:05

There are at least 3 separate people complaining that they haven't been seen and they've been here 2 hours

I am sure they don't need to be here and that I will get called first ...

OP posts:
ineedaholidaynow · 28/07/2020 00:07

You should tell them you should have priority as there are a number of people on MN waiting to go to sleep and they need to know what is wrong with you

JamieLeeCurtains · 28/07/2020 00:08

I'm glad you went back. Flowers

I think you'll be there a while, yes.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/07/2020 00:11

There is one twat dancing to his iPhone

2 others who are watching fucking tv on their phones - no headphones
