When and where were your clubbing days?

London based for me. Started off in places like SW1, Club UK, MOS, The Satellite Club, Cafe de Paris. Then progressed on to The End, Turnmills and Fabric via Bagleys and The Cross.

I have so much nostalgia for those carefree irresponsible days pre children. I have continued going to gigs and festivals but haven’t set foot in a club for a long long time. I think it would be a totally different vibe nowadays with everyone totally preoccupied with their phones.

What were your favourite venues/club nights?

@ShitUsername I’ve never been to The Arches but is that where Slam has a long-running night?

@Witchofzog wow, small world, I used to go to The Rhythm Station in my teens as I’m from Farnham!

@Ellomello did you go to 21st Century Bodyrockers at Cynthia’s? It was a night out in by FC Kahuna.

@Rollergirl11 I think that may be the one - rings some very distant bells.. My main memory of Cynthias is being served drinks by a robot

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 26/06/2020 20:33

Mid 90s Manchester - Thursdays at Rockworld and the Banshee (when they were next door to one another), also Monday nights at the Ritz

x2boys · 26/06/2020 20:39

I suspect we might have been dancing next to each other at the Ritz on Monday night ,s mid 90,s @TheHuntingOfSarky!😂

x2boys · 26/06/2020 20:40

We did you ever do.the all nighter at rockworld?

Trailing1 · 26/06/2020 20:40

Birmingham. Broad street in its heyday, the Works, Reflex,Risa. The bars in the Arcadian used to be good to, Mono bar was my particular favourite and the Oceana nightclub on Hurst street.
Funnily enough a few months ago I was relaying these memories to my younger colleagues (early 20s) and from what they were saying the Birmingham club scene is dead now.

Vaunting · 26/06/2020 20:41

@Rollergirl11

There was a place called Cynthia’s Robot in the arches of London Bridge around 2002. Can’t remember what it was before or after.
I went there mid to late 90s but have no idea what it was called.
PiggyPlumPie · 26/06/2020 20:44

90s Derby - Pink Coconut, Blue Note, Jimmy's, Ritzys, Paradise

Occasionally took a trip to the Black Orchid in Nottingham but that was a bit dodgy!

Jjou · 26/06/2020 20:47

The Krazyhouse in Liverpool in the 90’s, memories of a mispent youth Grin

HUCKMUCK · 26/06/2020 20:48

Late 80s and early 90s in Brighton. Top Rank, The Pink Coconut - very tacky. I also had a group of gay friends so spent a fair bit of time at Revenge. I know I also went to the Zap Club a few times but I don't really remember it!

There was a club called Sterns North of Worthing which is West of Brighton. That was the first real club I went to. My Mum only recently found out I had even been there as she had forbidden me from going when I was 15 - it was so easy to get in to clubs underage in those days. The Sterns building is a nice respectable hotel and restaurant now and I find it hard to believe its the same place!

Once I was a bit older and met my now DH, we used to go to a place called Bensons - looking back, it was absolutely shit!

MrsJBaptiste · 26/06/2020 20:49

Leeds girl here...

Ark, Back 2 Basics, Vague, Speed Queen, Angels (Burnley), Sundissential, Mint... good times 😎

AdoptedBumpkin · 26/06/2020 20:49

Mostly places in West London, most notably the Astoria and Velvet Rooms.

crosser62 · 26/06/2020 20:51

Late 80’s, all of the 90’s.
Rock clubs, never did clubby clubs, rock venues only.
Did Rockworld all nighter Manchester a couple of times.

Very very happy memories of my rock chick days, long, shaggy cut blonde hair down to my waist, black suede boots with studs, black skin tight trousers with leopard print panel down each leg, black off the shoulder top with a funky little waistcoat over,.
I was scortio in them days.

Oohmegooliebird · 26/06/2020 20:52

@DMCWelshcakes I lived in Cardiff from mid 1990s for 10 years. I don't think I ever went to Metros and can't for the life of me work out where it was.

soloula · 26/06/2020 20:52

Mid to late 90s Glasgow we used to follow the student deals so...

Tuesday - Reds
Wednesday - Club X
Thursday - The Tunnel or The Barony at Strathclyde
Friday - The Tunnel
Saturday - Archaos

Then early 00s it was the Garage and the Cathouse.

x2boys · 26/06/2020 20:53

thesunwillout · 26/06/2020 20:53

New Cross 1992-1996

Fun times

lombi · 26/06/2020 20:54

Gosh this has brought back memories!

My clubbing days were from early to late 90's in places like Club UK, satellite club, SW1, Chunnel club - loved sunny side up and strawberry sundays, colosseum,Bagleys, the Cross, Cafe de Paris, mud club, Heaven, some place in high Holborn whose name I can't remember, WAG, Busbys, gardening club, velvet underground...

Feels like a life time ago.

LilyLocket · 26/06/2020 20:57

Londoner here.

Early 90s I was a proper raver. Labyrinth in Dalston (grimy!), Camden Palace on a Friday night, Lazerdrome in Peckham and various rave promotions in random places like Elevation at the Roller Express on the Lea Valley Trading Estate and Desire in a warehouse in Plumstead. Ah, good times! 😆

Then I was a jungle raver for a bit. Sunday Roast, Orange at Astoria etc.

Then garage in the late 90s/early 2000s. Twice as Nice at the Colliseum or the Aquarium on Old Street were my favourites.

I also dipped into uptown R&B nights in the West End at clubs I think which are long gone - Hanover Grand, Iceni, Browns, Atlantic Bar, 10 Rooms...

And some seriously dodgy meat-market promotions at Ezekiels, Chimes, Corks.

I just absolutely loved it all! In my 40s now and predictably I prefer a cuppa and an early night. Think I burned out early!

Anotherloss · 26/06/2020 20:57

Sydney then London early 2000's- Icebox, Home, Gas, Greenwood day club & various larger events such as two tribes Homebush, Bondi beach NYE and field day.

Side trance raves, Global Gathering (Stratford-up-Avon), Turnmills, Fabric, SW4 after party at Brixton academy & a very disappointing night at Ministry. My friend had won tickets to the VIP area, but it was shitty music and an awful crowd of drunks!

nogreenfinger · 26/06/2020 20:59

Then SW London late noughties and early (10-13)... mcKluskys and oceana (Kingston), po nana (Wimbledon)

These sound familiar!

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 26/06/2020 20:59

@x2boys Probably! Grubby, sweaty, slimy-floored days - bloody loved them! I was a student at the RNCM 1990-94 so they were just up the road plus wasn't it only £1 entry at that time? And you could jump in between Rockworld and the Banshee only having to pay once!

RainbowCookie · 26/06/2020 21:00

Similar to you, Club UK, Satellite Club, Bagleys, also used to go to Freedom 2 Dance events at Camden Palace and the Astoria. Think it was a great time to be young and grow up had some really fantastic nights.
Driving home on the M4 and we’d meet up at Heston services for breakfast and compare nights out.
I remember a NYE at the satellite club and it had snowed overnight and we had to dig out about 5 cars before we found ours wearing not very much at all.
Watching White Lines and downloaded the soundtrack has also brought back some great memories.
