When and where were your clubbing days?

London based for me. Started off in places like SW1, Club UK, MOS, The Satellite Club, Cafe de Paris. Then progressed on to The End, Turnmills and Fabric via Bagleys and The Cross.

I have so much nostalgia for those carefree irresponsible days pre children. I have continued going to gigs and festivals but haven’t set foot in a club for a long long time. I think it would be a totally different vibe nowadays with everyone totally preoccupied with their phones.

What were your favourite venues/club nights?

North London, mid-to-late 90s.

Started off at indie nights, particularly at Highbury Garage. For a long time went to Full Tilt at the Electric Ballroom because I liked the dressing up but was waaay too part-time to be a goth.

Also did techno/trance nights like Escape from Samsara and Pendragon, the odd acid-techno squat party (did my last one of those when 5 months pg with DD!), breakbeat and house nights at Turnmills, the End and Mass. No particular night at which I was really a regular though, I was only out for a big night once or twice a month at most.

The original gatecrasher in Sheffield in 99/20 which led to road trips to Leeds sundissential, I think one in Birmingham (logo was little red & yellow stickmen type figures, held in an old theatre I think), Peach somewhere random. Did a couple in London in 02 but wasn't into the scene as much by then.

Was a Crasher Kid in the uv paint, pipe cleaners, shiny outfits my mum made me. Sparkly Buffalo trainers.

Such good weekends!

Always wanted to do to Ibiza but never had the money unfortunately.

I was an indie kid in the 90s in London. Collide-a-scope, Popscene, Club X. Gigs at the Astoria and club night after. Happy days.

1990's Reading. Utopia. Used to do 70's night on Fridays. It's an Ikea store now.
Further into Reading was Washington Heights. Now turned into flats. Brilliant, the best years of my life.

Rollergirl11 · 26/06/2020 23:13

@Littlepond I remember hearing about Popscene. Did it have something to do with or did it become Trash with Erol Alkan?
