Even in the frosty winter I'm hot, always hot. In the summer I'm just a little cooler than a blast furnace. I go out with my DH on a summers day and he always turns to me while my face is scarlet and hair dripping with sweat and says " Isn't it a lovely day! "

Ice cold drinks are your friend.

FlibbertyGiblets · 22/06/2020 14:40

God yes if sweaty head was an Olympic sport I'd be on the podium. And neck. Underboob. Knee backs. Hate it. Surprisingly not hands though. Hmmmm.

Anyways, you are not alone

FlibbertyGiblets · 22/06/2020 14:42

Although we went for a walk the other day and I had my hair up in one of them octopus clamp things lockdown hair issues and it made quite the difference in head heat/swearyiness.

FlibbertyGiblets · 22/06/2020 14:43

*sweatiness ffs

DameFanny · 22/06/2020 14:46

Linen tops. Or cotton, or viscose, but definitely linen. Makes such a difference to your temperature. Lovely lightweight linen skimming and keeping the sun off.

Anything with polyester or acrylic will make you sweatier

Horsemad · 22/06/2020 14:46

Lol, my DH has been awake since 4am this morning because he reckons his hair is making him hot & stopping him sleeping. 😆😆😆

Adulto · 22/06/2020 14:58

I'm with you puppy. I had a terrible shock when I hit my fifties, and went from always being cold, to always being hot. Can't deal with heat at all now

Puppybum · 22/06/2020 15:03

I'm enjoying the solidarity here. I really want to be able to say, yes darling it's wonderful but I'm just on fire!

Honkingallthewaytothebank · 22/06/2020 15:08

Bloody hate the heat. It can sod off.

Delatron · 22/06/2020 15:14

It’s not that hot today. Now the rest of the week looks scorching so you may need to prepare!

UncleShady · 22/06/2020 15:19

Horsemad Ah - your DH must be who my new hair clippers are designed for - they have a setting for "hard hair" and "very hard hair" Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/06/2020 15:25

I'm a sweaty bugger. But years of travelling and living in hot countries has taught me many tricks.

Take lukewarm showers and baths. Lowers your core temperature without shocking your body into trying to warm you up.

Cold drinks.
Move slowly.
Seek shade ALL THE TIME. You don't see Italians walking on the sunny side when there's shade.
Dress properly for the weather. Cotton and linen, cover head and shoulders.

Try not to get hot, it's massively worse if you get hot. Try to stay calm and warm.
Carry a fan everywhere. I feel like a weirdo in the UK but in Italy and France I'm with the super-stylish on fan carrying.

missmouse101 · 22/06/2020 15:25

Yes yes yes! Blazing sunshine and heat are NOT what I call a nice day at all. Anything over 20 degrees is too much for me.

KaTetof19 · 22/06/2020 15:32

Never liked the heat, it makes me miserable. The only kind of sunny day I like exists between October and early March. Anything else is horrible.

My stock response to people saying "It's a lovely/beautiful/perfect day" is "If you say so" then carry on hiding from the sun/heat as much as humanly possible.

CorianderLord · 22/06/2020 15:33

Umberellas - take one out with you. They do is Asia and it makes such a difference even if you look a bit odd

slipperywhensparticus · 22/06/2020 15:35

Do you have a thyroid problem? I do it makes me a sweaty host intolerant mess

slipperywhensparticus · 22/06/2020 15:35

Heat intolerant FFS

BobbinThreadbare123 · 22/06/2020 15:37

Come to Cumbria. It's full and bloody freezing today. It rained this morning but it's been dry since lunchtime. My feet are like blocks of ice.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 22/06/2020 15:37

Dull not full

EmpressSuiko · 22/06/2020 15:37

This is so unhelpful but I’m the complete opposite to you OP! I’m always cold! Right now it’s no where near warm enough for me, I need it to be over 20 degrees, preferably mid 20’s.
We went out yesterday for a walk, it was 18 degrees and I was so cold! It’s get me really down as everyone says how lovely and warm it is and I’m still wrapped up in a jumper shivering!
My husband get too hot and says he’d rather be cold and wrap up but I can’t stand being cold, I can’t function properly, it 20 degrees right now and I’m under a blanket 😂 If it wasn’t for my parents I’d move to a hotter country.

supersop60 · 22/06/2020 15:39

My DS's Headteacher had a good tip. It was a particularly hot and airless awards evening and all the parents were getting red-faced and fanning themselves furiously with the awards leaflet. The HT stopped proceedings. "Everyone relax your muscles, and breathe normally. You are stressing about being hot, and that is making you feel worse"
It's not a cure, but it really helps.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 22/06/2020 15:42

I hate it too! I have all sorts of allergies and the warm weather is a pain in the ass for me. I feel for you, love! Little portable handbag fan? Ice drinks?

SusieOwl4 · 22/06/2020 15:47

I was going to say possible thyroid problems as well as it can go either way make you feel really hot or cold when others are hot.

Normally I am ok but at the moment I am suddenly feeling the cold .same as the other poster everyone saying it’s lovely and hot and I just keep feeling a cold wind and want to put a jumper on while my husband is in a tee shirt feeling too hot . Difficult when you are sharing an office .

JRUIN · 22/06/2020 15:47

I'm with you OP. I love the sunshine, but can't handle the heat that goes with it. I'm sure I will wilt and die in the next few days when the temperature is due to go up.
