Even in the frosty winter I'm hot, always hot. In the summer I'm just a little cooler than a blast furnace. I go out with my DH on a summers day and he always turns to me while my face is scarlet and hair dripping with sweat and says " Isn't it a lovely day! "

The fucking buzzing, biting, stinging insects too that emerge in the bloody sunshine...

Puppybum · 23/06/2020 15:32

I've had the grim sweaty top lip all day

"Another day in the West of Scotland pouring with rain."

And it's disgusting and clammy because it's still warm and cloudy so the heat has no where to go. Scotland is not the frozen tundra MN makes it out to be.

veryvery · 23/06/2020 16:02

Hmm I'm a bit like this. I think I've been a bit better this year, though as I've been running more outside and not at the crack of dawn either. I can actually see the sweat pour off me when I come inside, though! It doesn't feel to bad when I'm still running as I can feel the breeze. I just don't sit outside out of the shade. I wear sun hats and sunscreen. I don't tan.

InkieNecro · 23/06/2020 16:26

I've been waiting for this thread, it's late this year!

I still hate the heat, my house is a relatively new build and has a conservatory which the sun super heats into a furnace that turns downstairs into an oven. I do have proper air conditioning in the bedrooms but that doesn't help during the day, I can't afford a portable air conditioning unit for downstairs.

Much happier in the winter, I hope it won't be as bad as last year. I'm also worried about the people stuck in flats with windows that don't open very far while we're still in lockdown.

* I'm also worried about the people stuck in flats with windows that don't open very far while we're still in lockdown.*

I wouldn’t worry about that. Lockdown is pretty much over! Star

Just chipping in to agree with @mrsBtheparker. Tea. It's why they drink it in India. Similarly if you want to warm up go to the iced water. It's to do with fooling your body into thinking your core temperature isn't right and it duvets the blood accordingly.

veryverytiredmummy · 23/06/2020 17:42

Diverts. Not duvets.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 23/06/2020 17:59

Hot weather is migraine city for me and also my eye that had surgery goes off.

ThankyouForTheVenom · 23/06/2020 18:22

Thank you OP, I feel less alone now Smile. People are horrified when I wander about in a vest top in December, and going to anyone else's house nearly kills me as I get so hot (not a problem I've got atm though!).
Even if I tie my hair up the sweat my head produces soon makes it look like I've been swimming, and it all runs down my face too - and everywhere else. Makeup's a waste of time unless it's winter as it just runs off...
I've always been this way inclined but having menopause and hypothyroidism has made it even worse. Still, on the bright side I do save shitloads on heating costs - only have the heating on if it's seriously arctic weather midwinter {grin}

Babysharkdododododododododod · 23/06/2020 18:23

I usually love it. But I’m 40 weeks pregnant so today I don’t.

spababe · 23/06/2020 18:31

Microfibre cooling towels are your friend. We took them to Florida last year and it was the only way I survived hot flushes. You wet them then wring them out and drape them around your neck or on your head. They'd probably double up as a face mask. Got mine from Amazon and they are cheap.

tillyandmilly · 23/06/2020 18:32

I am the same - temperature goes over 25 c and I get a headache! roll on the Autumn! Don't know how people sit in the sun all day!

ktp100 · 23/06/2020 18:54

I have an overactive thyroid plus slightly ginger genes than make me all squinty and primed to burn to a crisp in 5 minutes.

I absolutely hate the bastard summer!!

Roll on the autumn, hun.x.

ktp100 · 23/06/2020 18:56

Overactive thyroids make you adverse to heat, by the way. It's not just a random fact about me for the sake of it Grin

InkieNecro · 23/06/2020 18:59

Soon, but not for the poor shielding people who are in for a few weeks yet!
olbndansmummy · 23/06/2020 19:11

Hooray! I effing hate the sun, and she effing hates me too! I put my jml chill pillow in the fridge all day, then put it in my pillowcase at bedtime, perfect! Fan on 24/7 365 days a year, hubby with covers round his ears and me in a river of sweat 😠 roll on lovely autumn

Bluehues · 23/06/2020 19:14

Anyone get red, hot, swollen feet in the summer? I don’t struggle to badly with hot days but my feet, it’s so annoying

CowCuddler · 23/06/2020 19:15

OMG I've finally found my people!

I HATE the heat and the summer.

It's not a nice day at all. It's hot, sweaty, and uncomfortable. Summer clothes are exactly the same. Sun cream is horrible and sticky. Not enough shade anywhere. Plus the bugs everywhere.

No one else understands Sad

Bozlem80 · 23/06/2020 19:41

I can really relate to this, I’m hot & sweaty all the time, I’m quite weighty but my sister is stick thin & she has the same problem, my feet are constantly hot & I get so agitated by it, i try to sit in the shade whenever I can! I always joke I would sweat in the Antarctic, I love cool days even the snow but then I wear a big coat & I sweat again, it’s a problem I’ve had since my teens & I was slim then!

ToftyAC · 23/06/2020 19:49

Never been keen on heat anyway, but having been just flung into full on peri menopause I’m dying on my arse! The heat can feckity feck right off!!!!!!!!

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 23/06/2020 19:54

@MrsTerryPratchett I could not agree more, with the addition of a clip to hold hair up, i find one of those kerchiefs works brilliantly

Lovely13 · 23/06/2020 20:48

I can’t cope with either hot or cold! Like a nice balmy day, tops, mid 20s. For heat, it’s helpful to put cold water on pulse points - wrist, neck etc. And for cold - hot water bottles!!

Notenoughchocolateomg · 23/06/2020 21:04

I have found my people! I absolutely hate the heat. It makes me a grumpy git because I'm all sticky and sweaty. My friends think I'm crazy. Anything over 20 I hate. I have lots of fans in my home. I'm only mid 30s so god help me when i hit the menopause.

MotherofPearl · 23/06/2020 21:39

I join a variation of this thread every year. It's great to chat to other heat haters, as most people I know in RL seem to automatically think everyone loves summer and hot weather.

Some good tips on here already, especially sleeping covered with a well dampened and wrung out sheet. A hot water bottle can be turned into a lovely ice water bottle in the freezer, which is nice too.

I also practice what my family teasingly call my Heat Management System. It basically involves keeping all blinds and curtains shut during the day, and then in the evening at about 9pm, opening every window as wide as possible for a few hours, to cool things down. I sleep with the windows open all year round and never turn the radiator on in our loft inferno bedroom. My ideal bedroom is freezing cold but with a warm down duvet.
