Even in the frosty winter I'm hot, always hot. In the summer I'm just a little cooler than a blast furnace. I go out with my DH on a summers day and he always turns to me while my face is scarlet and hair dripping with sweat and says " Isn't it a lovely day! "

Move to Scotland. Problem solved Grin.

InglouriousBasterd · 22/06/2020 18:09

Ah, my people Grin

I genuinely just can’t tolerate heat since developing a nervous system disorder. I sweat embarrassing amounts as my body considers heat to mean I’m in the tropics and it triggers all of the usual pain points. I feel actually raging when people go on about how glorious it is and how we need to ‘make the most of it’ weeps into fan

bboxoff · 22/06/2020 18:12

I'm the opposite! Literally always cold. Went to the beach today. Everyone in shorts and shirt, some in bikinis. I'm sat there in trousers and a coat with thick socks. Was still cold.

Annoying!

orangejuice1 · 22/06/2020 18:20

I used to be a chilly one who was always cold and loved the heat. Since having DCs I cannot stand the heat (maybe because I've put on a few pounds Blush)

Dreading the heatwave this week

dottiedodah · 22/06/2020 18:20

Well we live on the South Coast so a little bit of a sea breeze helps .Feel hot and wont cook anything too involved so salads ,light foods ,cold chicken ,Salmon new potatoes kind of thing .Wear loose fitting baggy floral trousers and cool tops .Sundresses as well .Also folding straw hat (Amazon) sort of folds flat ,ideal to keep in the car! Lots and lots of water ,and a lie down on the bed with fan on!

amusedtodeath1 · 22/06/2020 18:21
@amusedtodeath1 Those Easyacc fans have been an absolute life changer the last couple of years. I work in a school and the kids are always coming over to me for a blast of my fan. Last year I got one that mists water as well. I was the most popular person in the school! Can't recommend them enough.
I too am suddenly very popular when I use mine. Grin I got a recommendation for it on YT and was really surprised when it arrived. It's like a full sized fan in a hand sized body. I didn't know about the water squirty one, thank you. heads off for a nosy

HaudMaDug · 22/06/2020 18:30

I can't cope with the sunburn (even plastered in factor 50) and if I get caught out too long, sunstroke. Angry < me after 15 mins

JoanJettPack · 22/06/2020 18:32

I don't really suffer with being too hot but I absolutely hate hot weather. I hate the sun. I have really bad hayfever and my eyes run, which means I ALWAYS have sunscreen in my eyes. I'm a big fan of dark clothes and cardigans and summer means I have to wear stupid clothes in stupid lighter colours which don't suit me.

I can't fucking wait for autumn.

Devlesko · 22/06/2020 18:35

It's bloody cold in the NW no sun all day, where are you all that it's hot?

UserError404 · 22/06/2020 18:37

spare a thought for us commuting on trains and tubes (and being made to wear bloody face masks which makes you even hotter!)

apparently my hair kept dp up - it's so long without getting cut and apparently it kept draping all over his face Grin

Uptheshard · 22/06/2020 18:43

Easyacc fans sound brilliant ..off to google it now. Thanks people.

I bloody hate the heat
Ice drinks and cold showers

Whywhywhy321 · 22/06/2020 18:49

This is the best thread ever.

Sorry, but I am so pleased that so many other people have the same problem as I do. My family can be wearing shirts and jumpers and I am sweating buckets with only a T-shirt on. I am currently sleeping in a chair in my living room overnight, so I can have window open and fan on, as my husband won’t let me put it on in the bedroom. Downstairs living room is also cooler. It is so embarrassing that when there are any hot days my T-shirt is soaking, both under arms and down the front, within 1/2 an hour of putting on. I have tried cool showers, cold drinks, avoiding spicy food, but nothing works. G.P. even put me on medication, but it didn’t work. Going to try that JML pillow and mat, if I can get them.

Roll on Winter!

Crinkle77 · 22/06/2020 18:50

I'm not good in the heat but I still appreciate the warm weather. I'm just glad I'm working from home rather than stuck in a hot office.

mrsBtheparker · 22/06/2020 18:50

When we lived in a Med country I used to find tea much better that iced drinks, by heating the inside you increase the rate of heat loss hence feel cooler. It's the hot countries that produce the hot food not the cold ones.

Craftycorvid · 22/06/2020 18:59

Sorry, I’m one of those ‘always cold’ people, but with sun sensitive skin so I’m always hopping in and out of the shade Grin. All menopause did was produce occasional sweats that left me going ‘oh, I appear to be sweating, that’s interesting’ but not feeling warm at all. Sadly ‘you can just wrap up if cold’ doesn’t work with me, it’s a case of get cold, stay cold.

Chig · 22/06/2020 19:12

I detest the heat. When I go to bed I take a frozen bottle of water. It’s lovely having a cold drink when I wake up boiling. You must put it in a container or you get water everywhere as it melts.

Echobelly · 22/06/2020 19:14

I have the pain of having a husband who's a 'lizard' (loves blisteringly hot 30C+ days) and never burns while I must be covered in sun cream and wearing a hat if I'm out in anything more than 22C for more than about 20mins in order not the get burned and develop a thumping headache.

Brefugee · 22/06/2020 19:18

I'm at the "sweating buckets so throw off my blanket" and then half an hour later wake up freezing and pull the quilt back on nightmare stage of summer.

any chance of a couple of links to the JML pillow and the Blankets & pillows that PP mentioned?
I'm not in the UK and it's difficult to see if what i can find is the same as what you're talking about

Puppybum · 22/06/2020 19:46

Also as well when I get hot and bothered I get a bit panicked, it's like I just need to cool off quick before my brain boils

OP posts:
deste · 22/06/2020 20:13

Fairly simple solution, move to Scotland.

jumbodumbo · 22/06/2020 21:55

I'm the same! Get panicked when I get too hot. I don't think it helps that when you get hot your heart rate seems to increase (?)

Also I'd love to move to Scotland Envy so wish I could!

jumbodumbo · 22/06/2020 21:55

I'm in the South and it's hideous in the summer and no snow in the winter Sad

hibeat · 23/06/2020 08:42

100%. Linen 100% very ample clothing. Very wide brim hat. mist.

sweetkitty · 23/06/2020 08:45

Another day in the West of Scotland pouring with rain.

I used to live in central London so understand the muggy no air heat I do sympathise. About 23-25 degrees with a nice breeze is just pleasant

Apossibility84 · 23/06/2020 11:37

* Another day in the West of Scotland pouring with rain. *

South east England here. Clear blue sky, sun all day today forecast, very light breeze and a maximum of 26 degrees. Absolute heaven.
