But how can they be certain without enough evidence? If you see what I mean.
He apparently videoed some of his crimes but covered his identity. So they could have video where they are sure it is him but it would not hold up in court without corroborating evidence.

Supposedly 2007 is when CB had it...

One allotment tenant next to the plot told the newspaper Bild the cellar had belonged to the plot “for many years” and had been added by a previous tenant. It was not filled in when the summer house attached to it was torn down at the end of 2007, he said. It is not clear who tore the house down.

I watched the documentary last night and can't for the life of me understand why he hasn't been questioned yet.
They gave the impression that they are desperate for the person who had the 30 min phone call with him to come forward.
Did anyone watch it too? What did you make of it?

Do we know he hasn't been questioned? I keep hoping that whatever they have that we don't know is good.

They said on the documentary (it was channel 4) that he hasn't been approached for questioning by any of the 3 police forces (British, Portuguese and German). Whether that's true or not - I don't know.

He probably realises that he's safer in prison than out?

I don't get how they can name him, show his picture, virtually say they are 99% certain, but go no further.

I know I'm not very clued up on the law about this, but it baffles me.

It was called Madeleine McCann: Hunt for the Prime Suspect.

It was first shown on 23rd July, and repeated last night, around 10.45 pm. You should find it on catch up?

I suspect they won't question him until they secure the evidence they need. Also I suspect he still has friends/ contacts who could hide evidence if the Police tipped CB off about what they are looking for.

Germany has different levels and ways of prosecuting/convicting, than we do.
They seem to have many pieces of the jigsaw but need some more.
The suspect also was able to flit across the eu as he pleased. This isn't an investigation in one area. He lived in numerous places in numerous vehicles!
He isn't someone they want to let slip through their fingers because of small error or lack of evidence.

From the way his lawyer spoke, I think there has been a break through.

Braunschweig isn’t exactly where the cellar is (it’s 40 miles away according to the Guardian report) but someone who knew him at the time giving this information must be very significant?

Re cellar I'm sure they only went to the allotment because they knew there had been a hut with a cellar.

This man had so many addresses and places he stayed!!
