Deepwater the program sounds a lot like the UKs Crimewatch, which always ended in "these crimes are extremely rare, so don't have nightmares"

Portuguese police have launched searches for Madeleine McCann's body on the Algarve.

The searches are said to have been conducted in wells in Vila do Bispo, a 20 minute drive west of Praia da Luz where the British youngster vanished in May 2007.

Portuguese state broadcaster RTP is saying detectives discovered 'fundamental evidence' to be able to prove suspect Christian Brueckner is responsible for her disappearance.

Yes, maybe now that they have some understanding of who the suspect is and where he moved they have a shot at finding her. Still like looking for a needle in a hay stack I fear.

Regardless of the outcome, the PR operation after the disappearance I found very distasteful.

I have read some short announcement on ORF (Austrian Public broadcasting website) today that very matter of factly stated that Portuguese authorities had searched for Maddie’s remains in the past weeks, Including in wells, but hadn‘t found anything. It sounded like the search had ended. Hm.

Have they spoken to CB yet does anyone know?

I haven‘t read anything to the effect, but considering that they maintain that there is not (yet) enough evidence and given they seem to avoid CB getting access to the files, I doubt it. Maybe once he is released and before he can disappear. (I hope he will not escape jail time for the older woman‘s rape based on some formality).

I see they've found the girlfriend now.. It all seems to be taking too long to look like a definite thing.

When it saw her picture it reminded me of the sightings of mm with a Victoria Beckham look alike. I did think the gf looked like VB.

What that poor girl suffered and her subsequent treatment by the Portugese police is appalling.
DNA evidence was probably destroyed.

I can't do clicky links, but breaking news on Sky is that German police have started digging on an allotment where suspect lived/went. Confirmed as linked to MM case but not confirmed exactly what they are looking for.

It’s so horrific. It does seem the German police as certain it was CB but don’t have enough evidence. I really hope they find it and that the family have some closure. I can’t imagine what they’ve lived with all these years not knowing if she was dead or alive.

The search? It was mentioned on Sky news earlier but I didn’t hear what they said.

But how can they be certain without enough evidence? If you see what I mean.
