Personalised car number plates - yay or nay?

Just that really.

DH is so keen.

I think it's tacky and a waste of money. I genuinely can't understand why you'd want your name (or some ridiculous incarnation) as your car reg, but maybe I'm a grumpy bitch.

Thoughts?

Nay - really dislike them!

OntheWaves40 · 15/05/2020 20:23

Yay, I would if I could justify the cost!

Dreamersandwishers · 15/05/2020 20:23

It’s harmless. Don’t see why people get excited but really don’t understand why people get upset at them either.

Not for me but each to their own. If he can afford it, I’d leave him to it. My partner and I have very different ideas on what is worth spending money on.

Coffeecak3 · 15/05/2020 20:24

It's a bit Del Boy imo.

GinisLife · 15/05/2020 20:24

I wouldn't want people knowing it was my car parked where maybe it shouldn't be 😂😂

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/05/2020 20:25

Nay, nay and thrice nay. It's paying quite a lot for something that makes no difference whatsoever to your quality of life.

Bertucci · 15/05/2020 20:25

No. Classless.

CayrolBaaaskin · 15/05/2020 20:25

I love it - I think it’s kitsch

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 15/05/2020 20:27

Nay - its purely an indicator to me that someone has money to piss up the wall.

And don't get me started when the same fuckers go on about being skint.

Stop spending on pointless shit then!

Undies1990 · 15/05/2020 20:27

Nope. Personalised plates are for knobs. Big knobs who actually have small knobs! Ha ha

whiteroseredrose · 15/05/2020 20:27

Nay. Looks like you're too daft to remember a proper one.

oohnicevase · 15/05/2020 20:28

We have one each and they match .. I love them but it's just fun .. to take it seriously is just silly ..

digbee · 15/05/2020 20:28

Naff.

ToManderleyAgain · 15/05/2020 20:30

I once knew someone with a personalised number plate who claimed they couldn’t afford a dentist’s appointment. People prioritise different things but this is one I can’t get my head round.

heartsonacake · 15/05/2020 20:31

I have one, I love it Grin

Tableclothing · 15/05/2020 20:31

I love it - I think it’s kitsch

I dislike it - I think it's kitsch 🤣

footprintsintheslow · 15/05/2020 20:31

So tacky

ScarfLadysBag · 15/05/2020 20:32

Nay. A million times nay.

Longdistance · 15/05/2020 20:33

I have one, but it’s subtle as it says my name without it screaming my name. You’d think it’s just a number plate, but I point out, it’s actually my name with the numbers mixed. Someone random off the street won’t notice but people who know my name will.
It’s two letters/two numbers/three letters.
It makes my car look older than it is, so less chance of it being stolen.

Redskylark · 15/05/2020 20:33

Nah, they're tacky

BoxyRoxy · 15/05/2020 20:33

Naff and pathetically aspirational. No actual rich people bother with them have you noticed.

Rowantree2020 · 15/05/2020 20:34

It’s just so naff!

Untrained · 15/05/2020 20:34

I always think they are such a waste of money and very pretentious!

anonacatchat · 15/05/2020 20:38

Very HKLP 😅
