Will you go out when lockdown is eased?

so say when coffee shops and restaurants are allowed to reopen, will you be going? I can’t see myself being comfortable going out to eat for quite some time

No way, I will be continuing as I am stay at home, using on line shopping and taking my kids for walks by ourselves for at least a few months to see how things pan out for the country. I'm not rushing out and putting my family as risk.

@Ijustneed Fair enough that's your call. I've been working all the way through this so haven't ended up in bubble like so many have appeared to. I'm a social person and have about 5 very close friends who I am missing terribly, they are a huge part of my life and I can't wait to see them all again.

Yes, I currently work for a private hospital and still working fulltime so I want my weekends to count again after a stressful week. Also I have no garden so I want more outdoors time.

Yes, there will be a second wave just as there has been elsewhere. I will stay home as much as possible too.

I have a toddler and a newborn - there is no “rushing out” going on here and it’s not like restaurants and bars etc would have been on the cards for a while anyway. I just want to see my family, and go out and about and have people in my house with me behaving normally, with other people behaving normally around me. Not exaggerated jumping out of the way when you round a corner and unexpectedly encounter someone, no one wearing bloody face masks (having just given birth, I have seen my fair share. My baby has seen no one except me, my husband and my toddler without a face mask. It’s unnatural and not how babies should be seeing other humans. I’m not saying it’s necessarily wrong under the circumstances - just weird and horrible), able to have normal encounters with other humans. I know that’s all a while to come with social distancing and masks etc all signalled by politicians, and again, I’m not saying that those things shouldn’t happen necessarily. Just that when we are permitted to behave in a natural way I will be doing so

You can get takeaway coffees now though, our local bakery has queuing down the road (very spaced out, all social distancing adhered to) every day. I often grab a cake or a loaf of bread.

Spudlet · 06/05/2020 12:43

You can’t around us @zigaziga, all the local coffee shops have closed for the duration. Which is of course understandable but I am looking forward to my favourite one being open in some capacity again. A bike ride over, a walk around the village, a trip to the playground there and a takeaway coffee and cake picnic sounds pretty awesome right now!

FireandFury · 06/05/2020 12:45

Yes, we’ve planned a bike ride and picnic with dp’s children when this is over.

Will also need to get to the hairdressers and beauty therapist (but am a new customer as I’ve recently moved so will likely be pretty far down on their list!)

I’ve just read on Facebook that some lockdown tweaks could come into effect from next Monday!

Perfectly fine that some will choose to stay home -more space for the rest of us!

zigaziga · 06/05/2020 13:03

@Spudlet that’s a shame. We’ve got quite a lot open near us, all serving through hatches and now crowding into shops of course.

I didn’t leave the house at all at the start for a few weeks as we were symptomatic and my cough took ages to shift and I didn’t want to be coughing in public. I’ve really found bringing a degree of normality back into my life - getting croissants for breakfast from the bakery for example has felt soooo good. Something to keep going for!

The woman serving said she was making 50 takeaway coffees an hour! (So clearly I’m not the only one who wants to get out and about).

EVERYONE I have seen getting their coffee or pastry etc is adhering to social distancing btw and behaving very sensibly. This lockdown can be ended gradually and we can trust people to be sensible IMO.

I know, bloody brilliant eh! I was called deluded on a thread last week for saying lockdown would be eased soon.
