Will you go out when lockdown is eased?

so say when coffee shops and restaurants are allowed to reopen, will you be going? I can’t see myself being comfortable going out to eat for quite some time

Maybe the occasional trip to the shops or a coffee place but that’s not something we really do all that often anyway. Mostly I can’t wait to just drive somewhere for a wander. And visit family. I would love to just sit on mums sofa and chat over a cuppa like we used to.

userxx · 05/05/2020 20:44

@everythingisginandroses With you on that. Bloody brilliant.

MagnificentMillie · 05/05/2020 20:45

As usual, it just takes a couple of nasty posters to turn a thread in to fight club.

funmummy48 · 05/05/2020 20:49

I shall be out the door like a shot, visiting friends, drinking coffee and frolicking in the countryside. I'll still be washing my hands though and won't be kissing or hugging anyone for a while. I can't wait!

I'm with you on that @HunterAngel it seems like a lifetime since I saw DM. It is terrible how the virus has turned our lives upside down. Even if I could see DM I'm petrified of her getting the infection even though DH and I have been hermits for 6 weeks. There are too many unknowns to feel safe atm.

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 05/05/2020 21:31

100% yes

Thepigeonsarecoming · 06/05/2020 01:38

Omg, this thread is hilarious! OP asks a question then yells and threatens to punch a head teacher when the responses don’t go her way!

Thank you OP you’ve made lockdown a bit brighter for me, knowing I’m not interacting face to face with the likes of you!

Using OPs logic I suggest that if it’s so unsafe until 2021 then all front line staff should go on strike and refuse to work (we won’t need money after all if there’s nothing to buy). Why should they risk themselves when we think buying coffee will kill us?

We can all learn to hunt and gather (OP says going out 4 times a day is ok). People can homeschool and make herbal remedies

1forAll74 · 06/05/2020 03:25

I imagine it will be quite manic on the streets in towns and cities when everyone is free. It will be like all the horses being let out of their starting traps at the racecourse.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 06/05/2020 03:32

@1forall74 to make that example stand true though you’ll need to nominate someone to ride or be ridden by you 😂. I’m currently thinking this through!!! 😂

Ijustneed · 06/05/2020 03:34

I'll not be eating or drinking in restaurants, might get a coffee to take away. I'll probably visit my son, hopefully my mother once I'm sure I don't have the virus, maybe a friend. I'll do my shopping online and carry on with a walk each day.

Megan2018 · 06/05/2020 03:45

No, not straight away. I’m on mat leave so we will just carry on as we are but seeing family at home. We live a very quiet country life anyway and rarely shop apart from online.

Our pub is doing takeaway and plan to continue so we will continue to use that.

I will hold off hairdressers until just before I go back to work. It is saving money and it’s only roots that are an issue as mine is long. I can get away without cutting it for years (although it looks better regularly trimmed)..

I may meet my NCT friends outside for walks with the babies gradually. But won’t resume classes even if they restart before my leave ends.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 06/05/2020 03:54

@ijustneed what about the coffee shop staff and the shop packers that you rely on? This is the point, why is it safe for them but not you/others? If the entire workforce shuts down there’s no food. Others though won’t leave their home for safety even if lockdown is relaxed. How is one group ok to go to work but others (vulnerable groups not included) feel they are put at risk if they do.

Ijustneed · 06/05/2020 06:05

@Thepigeonsarecoming I'm not saying it's safe for the staff. I'm happy for them to stay closed, I'm just saying I'll maybe grab a takeaway coffee if they do reopen. I'm not bothered if they don't. Don't try and put words in my mouth please. I was merely stating that I personally won't be eating in a restaurant if they reopen.

Ijustneed · 06/05/2020 06:07

And fyi my son works in a supermarket, he's quite happy to keep working.

userxx · 06/05/2020 06:11

@Ijustneed Are you in the vulnerable group?

Ijustneed · 06/05/2020 06:15

No I'm not, but I've not being going out because I've had some sort of virus that may or may not be corona.

userxx · 06/05/2020 06:17

What about after the two weeks isolation, will you go out then?

Ijustneed · 06/05/2020 06:23

Only for a walk probably. Is that a problem?

I'm disabled and currently unable to work. I'm an introvert at the best of times, so don't go out much anyway.

userxx · 06/05/2020 06:31

I'm an introvert at the best of times, so don't go out much anyway.

That explains it. I just wondered why someone would continue living this way when there is absolutely no reason to.

Ijustneed · 06/05/2020 06:38

There's no reason to? Presuming the virus I have isn't corona, I would want to avoid catching it if possible, or avoid passing it on to someone. Not because I think we're all going to die, but to avoid someone getting it who may be vulnerable and to avoid putting too much pressure at once in the nhs. I realise it's not going to go away and we're all going to get it at some point, but the whole reason for lockdown is to take the pressure off the nhs.

userxx · 06/05/2020 06:45

From threads on here and talking to doctors in real life, the hospitals are pretty empty at the moment. The doctor I was speaking to was saying life needs to get back to normal sooner rather than later. I fully agree.

AvalancheKit · 06/05/2020 06:51

Does anyone know if dogging will be allowed, in groups of less than ten?

Ijustneed · 06/05/2020 06:51

I don't know, if they are, then that's great. I agree life needs to get back to normal for kids, for people who are struggling, for the economy, but if I don't need to go out, I'd rather stay home and not risk contributing to a possible surge. It seems that in countries where they're relaxing lockdown cases are rising again. Surely if some people are able to stay at home, it will help if they do so. Of course I'd rather have the freedom to do as I please, I'm desperate to see my family, dd lives abroad and who knows when flights will be up and running again. My mother is 80 and the complex she lives in have been in lockdown for quite a while.

userxx · 06/05/2020 07:01

@AvalancheKit Yeah, I think you're good to go on that 👍

atomicnotsoblonde · 06/05/2020 07:06

Can't wait!!!!
