I didn't realise she was due already. Baby boy born this morning!

I thought it was due in the summer?

CrazyTeaDrinker · 29/04/2020 10:03

Is that early? I thought she had a while to go yet.

Hope all is well with mum and baby.

SapphosRock · 29/04/2020 10:03

Just heard. Wonder if he'll take 2 weeks paternity leave!

TSSDNCOP · 29/04/2020 10:04

Bloody hell! Did you hear that on the radio and literally reach for your phone Grin

twinkledag · 29/04/2020 10:04

That's early isn't it?

boomchikawowwow · 29/04/2020 10:04

They said early summer so I would think it was early. I think I heard that there was a concern Coronavirus caused early labour, but I am not certain.

boomchikawowwow · 29/04/2020 10:05

@TSSDNCOP no I read it on my news alerts that had just flashed up!

LaurieFairyCake · 29/04/2020 10:05

Bit of a surprise

SomethingOnce · 29/04/2020 10:05

What lovely news!

Carrie has had quite the stressful pregnancy experience - congratulations to them both on the safe arrival of their son Flowers

Frangipanini · 29/04/2020 10:05

Surely that baby has come quite early?
He had coronavirus and she was heavily pregnant or the stress of it all may has made baby want to come out early. Poor woman.

PearPickingPorky · 29/04/2020 10:06

She had Coronavirus too.

I hope Carrie and the baby are okay.

HMSSophie · 29/04/2020 10:07

He'll take paternity leave. God what an absentee PM he's been.

AntiSocialDistancer · 29/04/2020 10:07

Wow, they did say she was ill a couple of weela ago with suspected coronavirus, I hope Mum and baby are ok.

CottonSock · 29/04/2020 10:07

Bloody hek, what a time for them.

Frangipanini · 29/04/2020 10:07

Poor Carrie. Hope she is OK. This must be really stressful for her.

HMSSophie · 29/04/2020 10:08

And no I do not think a PM has a right to paternity leave under the circumstances, before you ask. He's a lazy fucker at the best of times.

TokyoSushi · 29/04/2020 10:08

Lovely news!

The PM will be a busy man!

AntiSocialDistancer · 29/04/2020 10:09

@HMSSophie it's very clear that hes having quite a run of unusual circumstances.

My guess is he wont take it till summer as you dont need to take it asap. He will probably be having a staged return to work anyway with shorter days due to his illness.

SouthWestmom · 29/04/2020 10:09

It's either early or they fudged the date so that they had some privacy.

Glad he was well enough to be around, cutting it fine with the illness.

Wonder if he's been kicked out of the ward like other new dads?

KenAdams · 29/04/2020 10:09

Early summer suggests June so that would make him about 5 weeks premature.

UpperLowercaseSymbolNumber · 29/04/2020 10:09

The public line was “early summer” although public figures are often a bit vague so as to avoid constantly scrutiny.

Fingers crossed the baby isn’t premature and is well.

This also makes sense why an hour ago Labour were saying they didn’t know if he would be at PMQs

Ilets · 29/04/2020 10:10

That poor woman. Good to hear both are doing well though, she must have had a terrible last few months.

TokyoSushi · 29/04/2020 10:10

I suppose they'll have to all come back to Downing Street and he'll have to juggle work with the baby. A bit of a shame for Carrie as she might not be able to get as much support as she'd hoped for.

Can you imagine though, back from a stay in ICU and now having to run the country combined with the sleepless nights of a newborn - eeek!

AntiSocialDistancer · 29/04/2020 10:11

You dont think that women a few hours or days post birth are due to support from their partner??? Extraordinary.

The country is hardly run by one man doing it all (thank God)
