Some people will never admit that certain politicians have charisma if they do not politically align with them - stupid but true. It is glaringly obvious to all that Boris Johnson has considerable charisma as does Tony Blair.
It is also glaringly obvious that Priti Patel has no charisma whereas Rishi Sunak does have it. Or that Donald Trump does not have it but that Barack Obama does.

My ability to see this does not make me a fan (or not) of any of these people. I am not tribal about my politics and see good and bad across the political spectrum.

TBH Prick News is a woman hating rag so not sure I would be quoting anything from them.

Jonathan Freedland on charisma and the leadership of the Left a few months ago.

I didn't know that.

PinkNews - author Jeremy Corbyn;

That I agree with. And I do think Blair had charm, though I didn't like him.

Roussette · 01/05/2020 15:55

That Corbyn blokey gets everywhere lol

ducksback · 01/05/2020 17:11

PinkNews - author Jeremy Corbyn

Grin To be fair, I did say that the hard left are complete misogynists! He also announed his pronouns at a (I think Stonewall) meeting - what a bandwagon jumping fool.

1forsorrow · 01/05/2020 17:31

Only that he wants to give full voting rights to resident EU citizens - so they can vote in UK general elections - a privilege that other European countries do not give to their foreign nationals. So do you think we need to copy the EU on everything?

Clavinova · 01/05/2020 18:27

So do you think we need to copy the EU on everything?

No - but I don't think the policy will win back Labour voters in the North either. Keir Starmer seems very London centric to me.

1forsorrow · 01/05/2020 18:50

Oh I see you are worried about him, how kind of you. I'm sure he will be fine.

Raccoon2020vision · 02/05/2020 13:53

@Clavinova I agree, unfortunately. Besides, all those duped Northern voters have done what was needed. The Tories will now be in power forever, with that majority.

And while we don't need to copy the EU on everything, my heart sinks at the thought that the other option is the US. God help us in that case. I do seriously wonder about people's geographical and historical knowledge sometimes....

It did make me laugh today to see a story in the press about how we would now, apparently, actually quite like to be part of that bit of the EU that alerts governments to things like the spread of infectious diseases....

Still, all of this evidently pales into insignificance next to the fact that the current Baby Johnson has now apparently been named....

justasking111 · 02/05/2020 13:56

Wilfred Laurie Nicholas Johnson. Not sure about Wilf.

MamaRaisingBoys · 02/05/2020 14:00

I love the name Wilfred

Roussette · 02/05/2020 14:02

You've got a crystal ball I presume...

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 14:02

The Tories will now be in power forever, with that majority

Will they? With the country going through the worst recession in living memory in the run up to the next election and all the new Tory voters being impacted most? It’s not something I’d be happy to put money on.

Mikikamp · 02/05/2020 14:04

He’s got such an impressive amount of hair!

Elderflower14 · 02/05/2020 14:04

Yay... Same name as ds2...

FizzyGreenWater · 02/05/2020 14:08

Oh that's a bit fashion-y.

Not a bad name, but very of the moment.

Libertylee · 02/05/2020 14:09

He’s named him after two of the doctors who treated him for covid apparently

FizzyGreenWater · 02/05/2020 14:10

He’s named him after two of the doctors who treated him for covid apparently

Don't believe that for a second - they will have named him the name they wanted most!

justasking111 · 02/05/2020 14:11

Wonder if his family will shorten it to Fred. He has his daddies mad hair, one of mine was born with so much hair, yet now he has the finest baby hair as an adult.

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 14:13

Carrie Symonds has said it’s Nicholas after the two doctors who were involved in his birth. I’m assuming she has no reason to lie about it.

Wilfred’s lovely, nice that he’s been named after two of his great grandfathers.

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 14:21

I lied. The two Nicks apparently treated Johnson in hospital.

mbosnz · 02/05/2020 14:36

Wilfred? I hope he doesn't grow up to be as vile as the Wilfred I've had the misfortune to know. Funny how knowing someone who's a thoroughly revolting waste of oxygen can really colour how you feel about a name!

MaxNormal · 02/05/2020 15:30

Who said that they don't? It's just that it's not necessarily a good thing, charisma is how most con artists do their thing. Hitler certainly had them mesmerised as well.
