Getting fit indoors - accountability thread

We have been in lockdown for 6 weeks I think and outdoor activity is very limited. I am getting fatter and creakier! Wondered if anybody else would like an accountability thread to post what exercise you are doing every day? I started off well but lethargy has set in and I am feeling less and less like moving but also not sleeping well so I need someone to get me to buck my ideas up!

@LaneBoy good luck Flowers

LaneBoy · 18/05/2020 08:09

Thanks :) I’m feeling a bit buoyed by the fact I’ve lost over a kg this week, that’s more than normal (had gained a couple of times in lockdown but I’ve surpassed my lowest now) so I’m inspired to do better. I’m so so tired - will probably need a nap today (3hrs sleep) but at some point I’ll try and get on the exercise bike

LycraLovingLass · 18/05/2020 08:29

Thats a fantastic loss. I have noticed I gave better losses when I have more rest days too.

Come on let's all be motivated this week, best week ever, we got this!!

I did nothing yesterday so need a rocket under me today.

Does anyone do resistance band/loop training? I’m tempted to buy a set from amazon as right now I’m only doing HIIT workouts and have just started running.

lubeybooby · 18/05/2020 13:47

34 minutes done today

I've got a bunch of resistance bands but haven't used them yet. Decided to start strength work after I fit into the dress

Purely because I retain SO much water when I do strength work and I don't want to allow my easily addled brain to confuse water weight with actual weight and get discouraged. Which is still does even though I know water weight happens and why. Hence sticking with cardio for now.

I'm annoying myself with my need to separate things like that especially as I know muscle rebuilding and gain really helps calorie control long term. Oh well.

I can see weight loss from my face and arms this month so far, and the beginnings of my collarbone starting to show again. God that was lost in the depths for a long old time.

It's not weigh day til the end of the month for me but more good signs! Lots of good signs this month so far!

LycraLovingLass · 18/05/2020 15:58

I have resistance bands which I incorporate into my strength days. I am quite impressed with them. I haven't done a whole resistance band work out yet though.

Wildernesstips · 18/05/2020 17:39

Putting virtual rockets under those arses that need them 😜! (Seriously though it’s not fun when you lose motivation).

25 mins Cardio workout. I’m on a new training plan for abs and glutes on Fiit after catching sight of how disgusting some parts of me look.

lovinglavidaloca · 18/05/2020 19:43

Thanks all think I might invest! You can pick them up quite cheaply.

Anyone suffered with their knees when doing lots of exercise? My right knee just doesn’t feel right at all. Almost feels like the kneecap is sort of trembling. I’ve gone from doing no exercise to doing HIIT every weekday and no running too ... is it just my body getting used to it or have I overdone it do you think? Might need to see what I can do that doesn’t involve the knees but I feel like everything does!!

rivierliedje · 18/05/2020 20:46

Yoga or similar for exercise that isn't heavy on the knees? Swimming if you live near an accesible sea?

I meant to go for a run this morning, but got caught up in a good book. Have been for a walk and going to go for that run now I think. Will be about an hour.

lovinglavidaloca · 18/05/2020 20:49

I might need to finally give in and try and get into yoga!

Have fun on your run Grin

lubeybooby · 19/05/2020 12:28

29 minutes in the bag

badlydrawncat · 19/05/2020 18:10

I've been doing 1 or 2 Team Body Project workouts a day and walking 10,000 steps. I stumbled across TBP on YouTube but liked it so much I've moved on to their website now and paid for extra content. I'm really enjoying it.

Wildernesstips · 19/05/2020 19:23

40 minute walk again today.

@lovinglavidaloca how about walking instead of running?

rivierliedje · 19/05/2020 19:43

Ended up doing the run today and not really managing it. I ran for the first while but it was so oppressively hot and humid and sweaty and I had a bad stitch in my side and i think taking a multivitamin just before going was a bad idea as it made me very nauseous. I did the whole planned time (one hour), but alternated running and walking.

HackAttack · 19/05/2020 21:59

Cycled 8 miles (short one after working all day) already hit the 50 miles in May so moving the target to 75

lubeybooby · 20/05/2020 11:21

Rest day for me today - I'm due one but I was gonna do my usual anyway until this morning there was blood in my cats wee. I had been starting to get a bit worried JUST before lockdown as she had stopped grooming and been losing a little weight, but she is eating and drinking fine and seemed happy so I thought I'd try and wait til lockdown ends to get her checked over.

Phoned vet this morning and got a phone appointment but they want to see her in person so I'm a bit worried now and off my game so rest day it is.

lovinglavidaloca · 20/05/2020 15:20

Walk with the kids this morning and will go for a run tonight. Not sure how I’ll manage in the heat though!

rivierliedje · 20/05/2020 18:56

HOpe your cat is okay @lubeybooby

Had a nice walk this morning and spent a good while out gardening. Will go for a run or walk this evening as well.

Wildernesstips · 20/05/2020 21:13

Oh @lubeybooby sorry about your cat, hope it’s not too serious.

25 Pilates focusing on abs and glutes

LaneBoy · 20/05/2020 23:17

Lubey Thanks

I confess I have not worked out at home for over a week now. Motivation for anything generally has buggered off somewhere, mood really low - hard to tell though where one ends and the other begins as I know that exercising would help but I’ve got to the stage where it’s hard to make myself do it.

However I did reap the benefits of it today - walked to the nearby Tesco for the first time in over 2 months (I’ve only been into town). In the past I’ve been knackered before I even get there, let alone on the walk back up the hill. But today - despite it also being really hot and having a heavy backpack - I was fine! So that’s something I can be pleased with, especially as I had a lot of setbacks this year even before the virus.

lubeybooby · 21/05/2020 07:00

well done @Laneboy ! I feel like I could probably manage that these days but oof that really sounds hard work with a heavy backpack and it's not something I'd seek out to do which probably means it's really good for me and I should. Haha

Thanks for the good wishes - cat had a bunch of tests done due to general old age, and an anti inflammatory for the bladder

I now have her and her litter tray in my office with a special litter in it, trying to catch a urine sample to take to the vet today. Ugh

Hopefully... hopefully back on the elliptical later.

Very pleased the stress of yesterday didn't knock me off my food game. I didn't over eat or under eat, my two usual reactions to stress

lubeybooby · 21/05/2020 14:57

Ughhh - so tired. Decided on another rest day as i'm so tired having slept like complete shite and AF arrived also

First time in 6 weeks having two rest days in a row though so whatever

Wildernesstips · 21/05/2020 19:37

@lubeybooby and @LaneBoy don’t feel too despondent about not doing anything today - tomorrow is a new day!

Just over an hour’s walk, and we discovered a new footpath and circular walk from our house.

unappreciativeoh · 21/05/2020 19:51

40 minute HIIT done today and 2.7 miles walk.

LaneBoy · 21/05/2020 20:11

Pleased to report I just did 20mins on the bike, it was sooo much harder than before I stopped bothering over a week ago 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ But glad to be back in the saddle!

I’ve also pretty much sorted my workout patterns into two separate groups, which I’d had a bit of a mental block about IYSWIM, and that was probably an extra factor in the low mood beating my urge to exercise recently.
