Getting fit indoors - accountability thread

We have been in lockdown for 6 weeks I think and outdoor activity is very limited. I am getting fatter and creakier! Wondered if anybody else would like an accountability thread to post what exercise you are doing every day? I started off well but lethargy has set in and I am feeling less and less like moving but also not sleeping well so I need someone to get me to buck my ideas up!

did 32 mins elliptical yesterday, planning the same again today. Kept mostly to my 'pottering about' plan too and trying to keep on my feet and moving, only sitting down when I really have to concentrate on something

Thanks for the C25k tips. I might give it a go. Who in the actual name of feck am I these days? Something else just made it more likely that I will try... my sports bra, one of those expensive shock absorber ones. I bought it last year and wouldn't go anywhere near me. Shoved it to the back of the drawer in a sulk. I just tried it and it actually fits. Blimey.

I’m annoyed at myself today - I needed to go into town for some food shopping and normally I’d walk down, but a bus was coming along and because I was worried I wouldn’t have enough time to get everything done before the bus back (it’s uphill and I can’t manage that with shopping in current health) I got on it. Waste of opportunity especially as I did actually have more than enough time!

So no proper exercise yet today. I’ll do my workout later though

lovinglavidaloca · 02/05/2020 17:24

Just 2.5ish mile walk for me today!

Nature walk with the kids, about 3 miles and painted a radiator

LaneBoy · 02/05/2020 18:18

Not done workout yet! But did 20mins on exercise bike. I think that’s the most I’ve done since the virus wiped me out but it was barely noticeable (I caught up with a MN thread while on it) so I can definitely aim for that as a minimum each day

LaneBoy · 02/05/2020 19:22

Workout done (it is very short! But seems about the right intensity for me at the moment)

happyhuman123 · 02/05/2020 19:42

have been running 35 mins a day on our treadmill and an hours leisurely walk a day. Not really feeling the benefit as I've been eating loads more due to boredom! My legs feel a bit firmer though.

Shockers · 03/05/2020 12:18

I could walk round and leave it by your gate if you like?

Shockers · 03/05/2020 12:19

Sorry- that was meant for WhatsApp Confused

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/05/2020 12:26

Can I join? Started with the best of intentions, but it’s gone downhill a bit. Ended up doing a lot of stuff that involves sitting down and even abandoned the physio which isn’t helping at all.

Teateaandmoretea · 03/05/2020 13:24

You need to run instead shockers Grin

lovinglavidaloca · 03/05/2020 16:30

10 mile cycle today for me.

LycraLovingLass · 03/05/2020 16:37

Accountability sounds great, room for one more?

Today I did Body Combat for 45 mins and 11 mins Step.

HackAttack · 03/05/2020 21:15

30 mins just dance on the Wii

LaneBoy · 04/05/2020 16:39

Ah I need to get Just Dance on more often! We downloaded it on switch the other week and haven’t made the most of the free unlimited song thingy.

It’s period day 2 which is generally one of the worst, feel absolutely shit mentally but I did 20mins on the EB again first thing. Then finally got round to doing my workout after lunch.

I’ve been writing loads of ideas down for other exercises - I think I’m going to try all of them tomorrow instead of the usual workout and then I can try and rearrange them into two workouts and alternate. I’m already finding the initial one easier so I’m going to build in some repeats too.

WaterIsWide · 04/05/2020 18:42

Nice one LaneBoy

I've had an upset stomach since yesterday. So, I've been recovering today. In my pyjamas on the sofa.

Hopefully I'll be back to exercising soon.

LycraLovingLass · 05/05/2020 16:30

Hope you are feeling better today @WaterIsWide.

I had a rest day yesterday. I just did a 30 mind Grit Plyo workout and a 30 mins body pump workout.

Wildernesstips · 05/05/2020 17:50

Walk yesterday and Pilates today.

LaneBoy · 05/05/2020 20:01

20mins bike this morning and then tried some new exercises for my workout in the afternoon. Will try and get on the bike later.

lovinglavidaloca · 05/05/2020 20:16

40 minute walk today and did 30 day shred for a change! It’s as boring as it always was Grin

lubeybooby · 06/05/2020 08:12

Agh keep forgetting about this thread. Still sticking with my 30 mins elliptical daily (plus 16:8 IF and accurate calorie tracking) I could see yesterday that I've lost weight off my face, boobs, and knees/lower thighs. The place I NEED it to come off for that dress to fit is the part of my upper waist directly under boobs though so hopefully it's coming off evenly

I had a top with no stretch that claims to be a 16, last tried it in december but when I tried it I said nope that's a 14... maybe even a 12. I tried that yesterday and it fit perfectly. Lets call it a 12/14 - so that looks good for maybe fitting into that (rigid size 12) dress in June

Anyway I know this is about fitness so I just want to add that I feel very fit right now in a cardiovascular sense. I've been including more high BPM songs in my playlist for working out as I can't help but keep up with the beat and when I started doing this, I could get maybe 3 quarters through one intense song before going back a slower pace but now I can do the entire 30 mins + of intense working.

Still haven't tried c25k but I'm super happy indoors for now so have very little motivation to actually get out the front door. I will one day though

LaneBoy · 06/05/2020 08:20

Well done fitting into that top!

I didn’t manage the second bike session yesterday, ached a lot after trying the new stuff! Then got distracted looking at online courses.

Been a bit disheartened with weight creeping back on, and wanting to focus on the exercise and getting fitter as that has to be a good thing regardless right? Still trying to make good decisions with food (and keep my brain busy which also helps) but getting stronger is the priority I think.

lubeybooby · 06/05/2020 12:54

Thank you! I was pretty amazed as I remember looking at it thinking shit, that's tiny. This means I'm now tiny right? Hahaa. Just finished my 33 mins elliptical and noticed having all fast songs has added an extra 700 steps to my total compared to a couple of weeks ago. Nice.

Fitness is def my priority and I too figure anything towards that goal is a gigantic win so don't blame anyone for just doing whatever they can manage BUT Anyone wanting actively wanting weight loss, if you feel up to it I recommend loseit app to work out your tdee etc and being meticulous about weighing everything (eg a teaspoon of things varies according to teaspoon size, so if having something hard to weigh like peanut butter or some yogurt out of a larger pot) weigh the jar or pot, take out your spoon worth, weigh the jar again afterwards and then go by the certified calorie amounts to work out what you had

It is an absolute ballache at first and absolutely shocking the size portions of things we should actually be having compared to what I used to have but I got into step with it after a few days and there's no denying the results. Also means nothing is off limits, just track it and move on - you'll find yourself adjusting what you eat to fit within your calorie goal easier and once you've been lower calorie and especially lower sugar if you can manage it, your appetite and urge to snack drops off a cliff and the whole thing is easier.

Again though, during these times really anything is a win. If you are making yourself exercise or even enjoying it but don't feel you can take on something else at this point then I absolutely get it. Also different things work for different people so the above works incredibly well for me but could well be just another 'mental load' hassle for anyone else.

LycraLovingLass · 06/05/2020 14:29

Well done on the top... the dress is in reach!

Just done body pump 93 which was 30 mins long. Taking the dog and the kids for a walk now, enjoying the sun 🌞.

Wildernesstips · 06/05/2020 20:08

40 mins Pilates and 1 hour walk. Well done @lubeybooby
