Getting fit indoors - accountability thread

We have been in lockdown for 6 weeks I think and outdoor activity is very limited. I am getting fatter and creakier! Wondered if anybody else would like an accountability thread to post what exercise you are doing every day? I started off well but lethargy has set in and I am feeling less and less like moving but also not sleeping well so I need someone to get me to buck my ideas up!

I made myself a workout pattern this morning. I’d been trying to do a fitness challenge on FB but had to avoid quite a bit of it due to my disabilities and even the stuff I did do seemed to make me flare up a bit for several days! So I’ve got a list of 20 things, done with very light hand weights and some leg exercises etc (4 of those are repeats on the other leg), the last one is deep breathing to relax at the end though :o it’s all attainable and put in an order that helps me rest (eg a couple of the weight ones I can do seated and they are spread out). Will try and do it every morning or maybe 5/7 but I’ll see how I go. Going to print it and put it on my bedroom wall!

I walked to town to get shopping and also joined in a bit with the sports drills DD1 got sent from school.

I'm still going! 25 mins yesterday, planning 30 mins today. Decided to stick with the elliptical on a moderate level as I'm enjoying the cardio aspect rather than making my muscles ache

I'm also building up some 'princessing' leading up to my 40th birthday in June. I've been using my lumea IPL thingy, my nuface (saggy face zapper... I have some droop due to weight loss) my AHA body lotion, remembering my skincare etc

I won't be going anywhere of course as likely we'll still have a lot of restrictions but my dp is a photographer so hoping to get some nice pics that I actually like... and to fit into my goal dress of course.

WaterIsWide · 28/04/2020 13:24

Well done LaneBoy and LoobyBooby

Today I did my YouTube exercises:

Jackie Tally seated aerobics - I used this as my warm up.
Paul Eugene Turbo chair - it's hard but it burns loads of calories
HasFit
Dance Like Nina Body Jam

The above took me 2 hours.

2 hours! I need to up my game Grin

LaneBoy · 28/04/2020 17:02

Been busy on phone calls, home ed and making games for the toddler today so only just did my workout.

I get bored really easily so I think I’ll mix it up and extend it into two different workouts but with more repeats, so I can just alternate.

LaneBoy · 28/04/2020 17:04

I am seriously in awe of two hours. Definitely going to look up these seated workouts though, I think they’d be good for me, thank you :)

Wildernesstips · 28/04/2020 17:26

Wow, 2 hours is impressive. Rest day today.

WaterIsWide · 28/04/2020 18:51

Thanks for your encouragement. Keep going everyone.

I do seated workouts because my right knee is weak (I've had physiotherapy etc)

I then go on to standing workout because they are within my capability. Then I finish off with a dance video or do some aerobics to pop music I recognise.

LaneBoy · 29/04/2020 14:49

Tried a different yoga workout this morning but it was really hard! I definitely need to stick to those with gentle/beginner in the title. I still did what I could but on balance there was too much to avoid (lots of downward dog which my wrists don’t like!)

I then did my own designed workout again. Reduced the leg raising bits as I was so so achy last night. Definitely need to come up with some other exercises and rearrange them a bit into two or three workouts.

Although I did wonder if it’d be better to stick to the same one for a week, and then do another one for a week? What do you reckon?

lubeybooby · 29/04/2020 15:54

I weighed in a day early (monthly weight checks) and have lost 6lb this month so very happy with that. Another Hoping for another 8 to 10lb off before mid June and I reckon that damn dress will fit

15 mins elliptical today as was short on patience for absolutely no reason - just one of those annoying days! Planning my full 30 mins tomorrow though

Wildernesstips · 29/04/2020 18:10

@lubeybooby well done on your weight loss. @LaneBoy, I really struggle with too much strain on my wrists too.

Thought I was going to do a workout, but decided to go for my usual 1 hour walk instead.

lubeybooby · 30/04/2020 16:03

Thank you!

32 mins elliptical today

Wildernesstips · 30/04/2020 21:59

25 mins Pilates. First time I have felt I was getting the breathing right.

WaterIsWide · 30/04/2020 22:27

Well done everyone.

Same old for me today:

Seated work out for my warm up.
Seated, 'turbo chair' work out for the calorie burn.
HasFit for standing exercises. It's very good.
Finished with Body Jam dance session which my dodgy knee objected to.
Went on to pop music aerobics instead.

I was pleased with my two hour session today.

Rest day tomorrow when I go and get the groceries.

LaneBoy · 30/04/2020 23:23

Keep it up everyone.

I had a rest day after 3 days of my new workout - was glad of it as so achey when I woke up this morning - but I felt rubbish later in the day and really stiff in the legs. I did a short stint on the exercise bike this evening but I think on future rest days I’ll try and do that earlier or do yoga. It’s becoming apparent I need to do at least one thing in the morning.

I renewed my gym membership today - the offer was insanely good and it worked out well for me as I was about to renew mid March but was procrastinating as it would’ve had to go on the credit card, and then I got the Covid symptoms that evening so didn’t get round to it. New offer saves another £100 :o and the year won’t start until after lockdown anyway.

I am going to have a look at the online classes they do as well - there were a few different types that I was too nervous to try IRL as due to my limitations I may have to miss a lot. So this would be a great chance to find out without the potential embarrassment!

MrsSnitchnose · 30/04/2020 23:52

Can I join you all? I've lost 7 stone in the last 5 years, put around a stone and a half back on so am keen to blitz it off again.

Did my dvd 3 times last week (Vicky Entwistle wow workout) and signed up with the DDP yoga app today. I've done his program before and it's brilliant, the only exercise I've ever liked, but had to give my brother his dvds back Sad

Will be starting tomorrow Smile

lovinglavidaloca · 01/05/2020 00:04

Joining you all if that’s ok! I’m on various weight loss threads on here but am pleased to find an exercise focused one too.

Since 6th April I’ve been doing a 30-35 HIIT workout from Youtube on weekdays plus a walk or more rarely a cycle. I don’t do the Youtube workout at the weekends but still try to go a walk or a cycle both days.

Today was a 35 minute Fitness Blender HIIT that I’ve done a few times now. It burned 318 calories. Also went a walk of a couple of miles and that was 211 calories. I’m really focusing on the calories in and out and just love burning as many as I can in a day.

lubeybooby · 01/05/2020 07:48

Hello new people!

I'm gonna stick with my same old boring elliptical for ~ 30 mins again today

I wfh at my desk so I've decided to also try and incorporate not sitting unless I really need to. Generally being up and pottering about seems a good idea. I can't believe this is me saying this... I am usually mrs lovesittingonmyarse but I genuinely have so much more energy now. I have even been fantasizing about going for a RUN

I have never run in my life but I feel confident I could do it now. Maybe C25K or something. I won't til lockdown is over as my area is a bit too hilly and I feel that might be a bit much to start with but I'm just amazed that I actually want to

Teateaandmoretea · 01/05/2020 08:29

lubey the thing about C25K is that you can vary it. So if you start with week 1 (which tbh is mainly walking and a bit of running) that wouldn’t be too hard re hills. If because of the terrain you don’t feel ready to move say to week 3 from week 2 just repeat week 2. If you could get to say week 4 by the end of lockdown you could then find some flatter places for when you have to run for longer Smile.

Teateaandmoretea · 01/05/2020 08:32

I am doing quite a lot of Zwift cycling indoors as well as walking outside (the occasional short run, I’ve only ever run 5k at parkrun) and the odd cycle outside. But feel fitter than prior to lockdown which I am pretty pleased about

lovinglavidaloca · 01/05/2020 09:28

C25K is fab I’ve done it in the past and would love to do it again as I’ve not been out running for months.

Nice weather here today so I think I’ll try and persuade the kids to go a decent cycle and I’ll do my Youtube workout at some point too.

MrsSnitchnose · 01/05/2020 15:08

First DDP workout done this morning. My muscles are going to pay tomorrow, I can tell 😂

LaneBoy · 01/05/2020 17:03

Did my little workout again. Getting some more ideas for exercises to add (partly from watching DS - it had been ages since I’d accompanied him to taekwondo but now I can see his lessons as he has them on zoom, and the coach works them really hard in the fitness section!)

lovinglavidaloca · 01/05/2020 20:06

Fitness Blender workout done this afternoon but no walk today!

Won’t be doing a Youtube workout tomorrow so will definitely do a decent walk or a cycle xx

Wildernesstips · 02/05/2020 08:18

Did nothing yesterday (not planned), but I’ve done a cardio combat session on Fiit this morning. That was a bit different, and quite challenging.
