Getting fit indoors - accountability thread

We have been in lockdown for 6 weeks I think and outdoor activity is very limited. I am getting fatter and creakier! Wondered if anybody else would like an accountability thread to post what exercise you are doing every day? I started off well but lethargy has set in and I am feeling less and less like moving but also not sleeping well so I need someone to get me to buck my ideas up!

I had a rest day yesterday as adding the ankle weights and dumbells to that step video had literally every muscle aching!

Back at it today though with 30 mins on the elliptical

@LaneBoy love the rollercoaster idea

Combination of 44-55 min walk in the morning, 20-30min YouTube excercise video from Body project and/or 30 min yoga ( min one but sometimes more than one of these)

I also go up and down stairs in short reps (7-10 times up and down for each rep) 3-8 times a day. When working I set pomodoro for 45 mins work and 5 Min breaks. On my break I do one stair rep as part of my break. Not masses but over the day it builds up but is so quick.to do that it is not.too boring.

Oh and we have a small mini bike in the garden so I do 10-20 mins on that if I am sitting getting some sun which I do most days

Great thread. Yesterday I did 10 mins of Joe Wicks before deciding it wasn’t for me, but did go on a walk for over an hour.

Today I signed up for a free trial of Fiit and did a 45 min Pilates session on it. It was really good. I’m hoping to get the most out of my 30 days.

Interested in this thread?

I’ve done another Fiit class (Cardio circuits) - 25 mins. Feel quite sore after my weekend activities.

LaneBoy · 20/04/2020 17:38

I did a very brief circuit this morning - squats, lunges etc - some things adjusted for the fact there’s lots I can’t do. Possibly could have done a third set but I’m being cautious atm! Hopefully I can fit in some yoga later but it’s been a bit of a hectic day getting back to education stuff.

The DCs did their exercise bike time too

LaneBoy · 20/04/2020 17:40

Also had a proper gain on the scales having lost 1.5st so far this year so I’m a bit gutted! Definitely need the kick up the bum

Wannabangbang · 20/04/2020 17:43

Same here i need to start actually getting of my arse. I have an excercise bike but apart from the odd 5 minute stint it's been gathering dust for a while. So i commit to doing this for atleast 20 mins per day starting tomorrow and combining it with a 30-40min walk with my dog. I also need to stop adding treats to my lunch and thinking lockdown is an excuse to snack all the time and drink more per week than i normally would. It's hard though isn't it, but don't want my weight to start affecting my health especially now!

Well done everyone, good work everywhere.

This morning I did these You Tube workouts:

Jackie Tally smart moves seated aerobics 20 mins
Paul Eugene seated Turbo Chair fat burning workout 2 x 30mins
HasFit.com 35 mins cardio
Lucy Wyndam-Reid 7 minute leg home work out followed by some of her stretching exercises.

I then went for a walk with my husband and along the way purchased some wholemeal pita breads for lunch.

LaneBoy · 21/04/2020 18:12

Did manage yoga last night - got quite late so I chose a 20min bedtime routine which was quite nice. I did sleep well too although I was already exhausted!

Took me ages to get going today other than a quick go on the exercise bike (could definitely do more) and the home ed schedule has been rammed so I didn’t do the workout until around 4. Did the same as yesterday rather than pushing myself to a third set.

lubeybooby · 22/04/2020 14:05

I had a rest day again yesterday because I felt a bit weak and achey.

That feeling still lingered today but I made myself do 32 mins elliptical by choosing some ace new workout tunes to get me in the zone and spending some time staring at my goal dress (rigid size 12 and about 2 inches to go - aiming to wear on my birthday mid June)

I have always been aware and careful of calories and being accurate but now I'm actively tracking again as well as seeing it in black and white often makes me think twice about desserts or snacks - do I really need that extra 250 calories daily or regularly? No I do not because then it's just normal and not a treat anymore. I prefer it feeling more like a treat.

WaterIsWide · 22/04/2020 14:11

Hello.

My exercise routine is as follows:

Jackie Tally seated exercises
Paul Eugene Turbo Chair workout
HasFit
Disco aerobics I did the modern version of, 'Valerie' because the dancers in the video do routines to that and other songs. I find their pelvis thrusts and hip shifts a tad off putting !

I had to stop to take a call from my physiotherapist because of treatment I started before the lock down and it was useful to be able to ask her some questions on the spot.

Bargainhuntbore · 22/04/2020 17:22

A friend of mine is a FI in DW gym and every morning she does live class. Its brilliant. There are many be had on you tube.

Wildernesstips · 22/04/2020 21:01

An hour of walking outside today. Trying not to go out too often but sometimes I really feel the need to get some fresh air exercise.

LaneBoy · 22/04/2020 21:24

Managed to do yoga yesterday evening. It was a rest day on the workout challenge thing so didn’t do that today but will do some yoga in a bit. I’m so tired 😳 more mentally than anything I think

cannotchange · 22/04/2020 21:39

Most days I do a 30 min pop sugar cardio workout followed by a 20 min Jessica Valant pilates session - both on you tube. Pop sugar a bit cheesy but is quite well produced combines cardio and toning.

Also every evening do a 45 min walk with the family.

Have been doing for about 3 weeks and am beginning to really feel the benefits.

I actually prefer this to the gym now as I just used to do cross trainer etc and it's really boring.

So hoping to continue after lockdown

lubeybooby · 23/04/2020 14:36

30 mins elliptical again today. Feeling ace. I think I like it more than a treadmill now

peony68 · 23/04/2020 15:29

Been doing 60 minutes every day on my exercise bike , seems to be keeping any weight gain away . However it's very boring , couldn't do it without my recent star buy from amazon , handlebar kindle holder and far too many easy reading predictable books that prime reading can throw in my direction !!!

Wildernesstips · 23/04/2020 18:21

Another Fiit class, this time Pilates alignment. I really like the tone of it.

WaterIsWide · 23/04/2020 21:46

Well done everyone.

This morning, one again I did:

Jackie Tally Smart Moves chair aerobics
Paul Eugene Turbo chair very challenging seated workout
HasFit 30 minute work out
UptotheBEAT disco aerobics

Rest day tomorrow. Well, I'll get the groceries instead of exercising.

LaneBoy · 23/04/2020 22:29

Ashamed to say I’ve done nothing today. I was so tired and then just got more and more stressed and in normal life I’d be craving a gym workout or a swim but I can’t actually bring myself to do anything in place of that so I’ve just been really moody instead 🤦‍♀️

LaneBoy · 24/04/2020 17:51

Slightly better today although better than fuck all isn’t hard really! I did a little time on the bike and then did a couple of songs with DS on Just Dance, I would have done more but then had to work

Wildernesstips · 24/04/2020 18:03

@LaneBoy, it’s definitely better than nothing. Haven’t done a Just Dance for ages.

Was planning a cardio session but did an hour’s walk instead.

lubeybooby · 25/04/2020 10:38

Still going with 30 mins elliptical daily. Trying to change my playlist slightly every day to curb any boredom. I tried it with an audiobook too but that didn't work for me at all. Likely rest day tomorrow then back on with it all. Weigh day for me is in 5 days (I check monthly and I know many are just trying to maintain or get fit but I'm hoping for some loss as still a fair bit to go)

Wildernesstips · 25/04/2020 16:20

Feeling really tired today but forced myself to do 25 min circuit session just after getting up.

Wildernesstips · 27/04/2020 18:45

How is everyone keeping?

1 hour walk yesterday
40 min Pilates session today
