It's a bugger, isn't it.
Quite enjoyed my alcoholic stupor little nap in front of the wood-burner, because waking up to grim reality is less fun.
Both Mr LaMa and self are in risky groups but on the very margins, iyswim. Eg Mr LaMa is early 60s* but is overweight and has hypertension. Albeit, well-controlled hypertension.
So far, we could survive for a couple of weeks purely on what we have in, due to his habit of stockpiling tinned tomatoes and ready-cook rice, and my habit of being very mean and never throwing away leftovers and always taking advantage of multibuy offers.
I know we're comparatively lucky.
Really wish I could help some of the residents of our cosy FrogMohr Cottage thread. In lieu of that, I have signed up to a local church group to try to make sure isolated local people get shopping and some social contact (even if just by phone).
Slightly worried about offending a neighbour - who I know is over 70, quite isolated and whose family live abroad - with an offer of help.
Still wondering how to tactfully word that without saying, "Well, I couldn't help but notice that you look old..."!
*I was a child bride, obviously.. hem hem
(I'm early 50s but with a minor problem which earns me a free flu jab but has no bearing on CV)
