Is anyone else experiencing this? Not a single slot as far as the calendar goes (3rd April)

I've got a Tesco delivery booked for tomorrow so it will be interesting to see what actually turns up. Ive just booked my next one and the next available slot is Monday 23rd.

Willow2017 · 14/03/2020 20:13

There is a very valid reason I do a weekly online shop.

Just as there are valid reasons other people do online shops too.
Yours isnt the only reason.
Nobody knows why you shop online but it doesnt mean they cant do it too. They arent psychic and must decide not to do it because you cant get to the shops.
I know plenty people who do online shops mainly for convenience not for any other reason. Should they all stop because 1 person is unable to get to the shops?
Sorry that this is affecting you but its not anyone elses "fault".

BTW I am not the only poster who said you dont have priority over slots and also I have never done an online supermarket shop in my life so I wouldnt be one who is stopping you getting your slot.

HardWorkShy · 14/03/2020 20:15

Ocado order coming tomorrow. I went in and booked for next weekend. Tons of free spots. I'm in London.

TitsInAbsentia · 14/03/2020 20:16

I'm meant to be self isolating (as a precaution rather than because of coming in to contact with a positive diagnosis) for 7 days but my employer has us on 14 days work from home isolation. I could probably survive on random cupboard items for 3-4 days but what do I do after that? I don't think I've got any choice but to do a trolley dash in the morning at least then I can pick up alternatives for whatever they don't have. In fairness it won't hurt me cutting back on food a bit!

Crunchymum · 14/03/2020 20:21

@Willow2017

You told me to go out and do my weekly shop like other people do? Very presumptuous.

But yep I do appreciate it's not a "right" to have a delivery slot.

I'm trying so hard to remain calm and rational in the face of mayhem (and it is mayhem where I am - think bare shelves everyday this week in all my local supermarket / regular loo roll from Amazon quadrupling in price / inability to get a regular medication as a routine appt was cancelled etc)

As I say it seems to be Sainsburys themselves controlling the delivery slots so no maniacs nabbing them all Grin

It looks like Sainsbury’s are managing the slots somehow, most days for the next 3 weeks are showing as full but there are 2 consecutive days on each week available? Maybe extra drivers allocated to those days?

DameSquashalot · 14/03/2020 20:42

We went to the shop ourselves today. There was no:
Rice
Pasta
Eggs
Flour
Loo roll
Hand soap
Sugar
Tinned tomatoes/sweetcorn/anything
Paracetamol

We managed to get what we needed from smaller more expensive shops/ expensive food market. Hopefully we'll have more luck next week.

Straycatstrut · 14/03/2020 20:44

I'm a single parent, no car, supermarket is miles away and I do online shopping too, obviously.

I have to wait until next Saturday! I really need to stock up on quorn for mine and the kids meals. I can't find any anywhere.

MamehaSan · 14/03/2020 20:53

I've just checked and there are no slots available at all for the next three weeks... except for next Friday when I already have my regular delivery booked. Then there's every other time slot avaiable for me to switch to. The following Friday, there's no other slots available and nothing in week 3 either. I also think they're managing bookings somehow...

www.theguardian.com/business/2020/mar/13/morrisons-speeds-up-payments-to-small-suppliers-because-of-coronavirus

Ocado aren't taking on any new customers. We placed an order last week, and had to wait 6 days for a delivery slot. The supermarket shelves are bare.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 15/03/2020 08:29

Asda had loads of slots from Tuesday onwards when I booked my shop yesterday.

Nearlyoldenoughtowearpurple · 15/03/2020 08:33

For anyone struggling with ocado, they have pulled the app and are asking people to use the web site, which does seem to be working ok.

Rosie2000 · 15/03/2020 08:34

Op- I can usually get a slot a few days ahead but have the same issue- saying ‘unavailable’ for next 3 weeks. I have messaged Sainsbury’s on fb, I expect they are releasing them slowly

Trisha5 · 15/03/2020 08:36

Same for me just checked and nothing available

Crunchymum · 15/03/2020 09:45

@Rosie2000

Would you let me know if Sainsburys reply?

It's the same with my Sainsbury. Nothing in the diary at all. It's a worry as I can't drive and have limited mobility. I do have enough store cupboard food to last for a good while but fresh stuff will run out by next weekend.

PickleSarnie · 15/03/2020 10:53

I had to book weekly ocado slot as soon as my last delivery arrived. Usually can get a slot for next day.

Booked it out with two bottles of gin. Now I can't get onto ocado (app and website kaput) to edit it and remove the gin and add actual food. I suppose I'll be self isolating with shitloads of gin.

.

Mazarinegreen · 15/03/2020 11:10

Sainsbury's have a recorded message now on their phone line saying call centre staff can do nothing about shortage of slots - bit worrying for me as I'm trying to book a delivery for my elderly self isolating family members in case I'm not well enough to drive up and shop for them . hopefully they release more slots as nothing up to 3 April available!

TheGreatWave · 15/03/2020 11:14

Same with my Sainsbury's, I have an Ocado shop coming tomorrow (currently on a new customer free 3 month pass) and tried to book Sainsbury's for next week, but no slots at all. Have booked Ocado again instead.

I have been online shopping for years, so I am not a sudden user. (Ocado have only recently moved into my area, hence having an account with them now, but this was prior to all the panic)

Itsashame · 15/03/2020 11:18

Where I am today there was toilet roll in a local corner shop, a shall garage and the co-op. None in Tesco’s but huge queues to get in Tesco!!
The corner shop was also fully stocked with pasta, rice, frozen pizza, all normal really

TheGreatWave · 15/03/2020 12:27

Itsashame pretty much the same around me. Apart from hand gel I could have got everything. Even Farmfoods, whilst busy had plenty of stock (other than loo roll and baked beans)

Crunchymum · 15/03/2020 12:45

Well I ventured out to our large local Sainsburys and it was as awful as I imagined it would be.

I wasnt going for anything I know would be out of stock (needed fruit for snacks, stuff for lunches etc) so didn't have any stock issues but fuck me it was Hellish.

Popped into my local shop and they are well stocked with toilet roll / pasta / rice. I just bought a 4 pack of loo roll as DC1 has a tummy bug so this was just to replenish what we've used over the past few days.

I'd rather starve / wipe my arse with my hand than head to the supermarket again. Although if we starve I guess we wont need bog roll Grin

Greenandpleasanter · 15/03/2020 13:01

Personally I'm actually going to the shops because I don't need to self isolate atm and I'd rather the slots were there for people who really needed them. Shouldn't everyone who isn't at risk or has people close to them at risk be doing that?

CornflakeBreath · 15/03/2020 13:05

I booked a delivery for Wednesday (booked on Friday). Bit by bit the delivery is being reduced by new limitations and it’s affecting the things we usually buy for our once a week shop. There’s £50 of shopping been removed since Friday. When the delivery comes there will be hardly anything in it. We can’t get to big supermarkets because of disability and our local little store is selling out of stuff. I’m really worrying and frightened now. The latest to disappear from the basket are veggies (bagged steamed ones we need for accessibility), microwave rice (again for accessibility), and (weirdly) crisps.

Then our next delivery slot is a week later. And nothing we need will be there.

What are people who rely on certain products and stuff meant to do? Sad

PerfidiousAlbion · 15/03/2020 13:12

Yes, same here and I live in the sticks.

I had an email from Sainsbury’s Head this morning urging me to stop panic buying. I’m guessing everyone’s gone bananas from what i saw in there yesterday. It was like Christmas. Empty shelves and trollies piled high.
