Is anyone else experiencing this? Not a single slot as far as the calendar goes (3rd April)

It's not selfish, it's higher demand and stretched services, this is our new normal.

OddBoots · 14/03/2020 19:09

Possibly they are reducing the slots available if they think drivers may be off sick too.

Chesntoots · 14/03/2020 19:13

Just had a look at my local Sainsbury's and the earliest is Thursday. Lots of slots after that though.

lazylinguist · 14/03/2020 19:20

Ok there's no reason at all why people who don't usually get deliveries might need to d ok so. They are all maniacs for stealing your usual slot. How very dare they! Hmm

Dashing out to the shop and clearing the shelves of loo roll is panic buying. Ordering a supermarket delivery when you don't normally, in order to cut down on social interaction (especially if you're in a vulnerable group or have symptoms) is very sensible. It's you that's being selfish, OP, by thinking that your normal routine is too important to be upset by other people's needs.

youkiddingme · 14/03/2020 19:25

What lazylinguist said.

Michaelbaubles · 14/03/2020 19:27

Once again, for everyone who mocked preppers weeks ago, prepping is precisely to avoid this - to look ahead, foresee where problems might arise and then take steps to mitigate them in advance to take the strain off.

I’ll use delivery slots for fresh food while I can get one easily but I know when they start to struggle I’ve got plenty of tinned and frozen stuff so I don’t need to worry. Stuff I topped up a month ago while there were lots of threads about people being hysterical and mental and all kinds of insults being aimed at anyone buying toilet roll and pasta.

I hope we never have an anti-prepping thread on MN again...nah! Won’t happen, everyone will forget as soon as this is all over and we’ll go back to being hysterical women.

Willow2017 · 14/03/2020 19:29

Why do you think you deserve a slot more than anyone else?
If people are booking slots in case they have to self isolate then whats it got to do with you? Go the the damm shop and do your shopping like ther rest of us do?

Higher demand = less slots its not rocket science.

planningaheadtoday · 14/03/2020 19:30

When I booked Tesco there were options for click and collect much sooner. That's minimal contact although no good for those who are self isolating.

PanicAtTheTesco · 14/03/2020 19:33

i think it's a bit broken
earlier today there were no slots at all for 3 weeks
then about an hour ago some appeared for Sun and Mon, but nothing before or after. Keep checking.

FredaFrogspawn · 14/03/2020 19:37

Ocado app not working at all for me. Not connecting.

SinglePringle · 14/03/2020 19:37

No Sainsburys deliveries here till 3rd April. Fucking glad I’m not ill or infirm Angry

LoveSummerLife · 14/03/2020 19:38

Are you ordering from your phone? When I was trying to place an order on app or mobile site it said no slots available, but then I deleted and re-installed the app and was able to place an order on Friday for next Wednesday.

lubeybooby · 14/03/2020 19:39

Sainsburys are implementing number limits on items then slots will go back up day by day apparently

AmethystMoonShine · 14/03/2020 19:40

I’ve just placed an order for Tuesday. Must be localised I guess.

HettyStThomas · 14/03/2020 19:41

My ASDA shop arrived today minus only a few things, like toilet roll. I've just reserved next weeks slot to make sure we get something.

Likethebattle · 14/03/2020 19:42

We don’t have a car right now and we live in a tiny village. I normally book Sainsbury’s slot for a Friday on a Wednesday. Had to book next weeks slot today.

Pixxie7 · 14/03/2020 19:52

Tesco’s same near me.

Crunchymum · 14/03/2020 19:56

@lazylinguist

It is every single slot for 3 weeks. Which is quite frankly insane. I don't have a god given right to a certain slot but I do pay for an annual delivery pass so I'd quite like to be able to book a delivery between now and 3rd April Sad

However as other people have pointed out, it could be Sainsburys themselves trying to manage slot allocation.

I do use my phone but I don't have the app.

NothingIsWrong · 14/03/2020 19:56

It must be where you are - I just had a look on the Morrison's app and my first available delivery is tomorrow at 3-4pm.

Crunchymum · 14/03/2020 19:57

FWIW my most recent delivery didn't have loo roll (which I expected) but everything else was readily available... barring cous cous which was subbed for polenta.

OP posts:
Crunchymum · 14/03/2020 19:58

Yeah Morrisons only has Mon 23rd 6am-7am. Another random 2pm-3pm in the week and Sat 28th there was a bigger selection of times.

OP posts:
SybilWrites · 14/03/2020 19:59

None here either at all. It's insane.

Crunchymum · 14/03/2020 20:01

@Willow2017

Did you mean to be so ignorant?

There is a very valid reason I do a weekly online shop.

Wish I had the means and mobility to go to the shops like everyone one else to do the weekly family shop, you rude person.

OP posts:
trilbydoll · 14/03/2020 20:02

I wouldn't worry, my last Sainsbury's delivery reminded me why we use Tesco now, they just offload all the unsellable veg. Tesco don't have any delivery slots but they do have click and collect.

coursedarlin · 14/03/2020 20:05

My Asda shop was due between 5 and 7pm and still hasn't arrived. Having checked the items there are 8 substitutes and 17 unavailable items. I've been trying to get through to them for the past 45 minutes to find out if they are still planning on delivering today as I will need to go out tomorrow anyway now
