Would palliative care be a classed as a planned admission?

Tin foil hats abound,

but isn't that what the royal family is for? Some posh real life "Eastenders" that people love to follow, gush about kids who are looking down at them, and feel like they are part of because they buy a magazine or a scarf the same colour they are wearing? Grin

@JumpyLiz

It's been another Annus Horribilis (or whatever the hell it was called 😂), I just think this time it might be a tad too horrible. Not easy to reference all the crap, but even worse not to.

This made me LOL.

What's she going to say?

When I said Annus Horribilis, as it turns out, I of course meant Annus mirabilis. Compared with this year, that really was quite the breeze.

planned could also mean a couple of days planning.it doesnt have to mean a procedure is imminent.just thats its not an emergency callout and straight in.it could be hes been getting poorly theyve said he needs admission but can wait a few days to ease into it.
having relatives in hospital this time of years is horrific.your just sat preying it wont happen and then bang.and then left praying they might be out in time for christmas.but then they pick up another bloody infection from being inside.aaaaargh.

Drabarni · 20/12/2019 17:15

Well, he'll have a bed, not like the rest of us plebs.
You can die waiting for a bed to become available. Oh, how the other half live.

JumpyLiz · 20/12/2019 17:16

Anyone know what planned could also mean? Grin

kateandme · 20/12/2019 17:16

i would really love for him to post a pic of his lunch up.what would his kind of room have the christmas lunch.bet its better than any of ours at home!

Needle seems stuck in da groove!..

AlternativePerspective · 20/12/2019 17:17

Good god all this speculation is hideous.

He’s 98. Let’s be honest here, he could simply go to bed tonight and not wake up purely because he’s 98 that’s exactly what happened to my great grandmother. Lived at home until her dying day. Her son went to help her to bed. She settled down, gave a little sigh and there she was gone.

Dying at this age isn’t only common it’s expected. And now people are speculating that he hasn’t been seen out in public since x date and how the bbc is busy and how they heard it on WhatsApp so it must be a fact pmsl.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/12/2019 17:18

He is 98 years old. He’s had a good innings and a privileged life. It’s sad for his family

Err yes, but he's not dead quite yet

At least, not as far as we know ...

PlomBear · 20/12/2019 17:19

They won’t announce his death over Christmas as it will “ruin the festive season for the populace” because there will be a mass outpouring of grief. Or something.

Junie70 · 20/12/2019 17:19

At 98 he'd be a walking miracle to have no health concerns.

He may have flu or a simple UTI. Both of which may have needed IV antibiotics.

They have to release the news otherwise speculation would be more rife than it already is.

It saddens me that he's living on his own these days (without family I mean as opposed to staff). One wonders if he is a bit of a Victor Meldrew on the quiet and they've shipped him off to a cottage on the Estate............

SunshineCake · 20/12/2019 17:19

Some horrible posts here. Some of you sound gleeful at the thought he might be seriously ill.

Butterymuffin · 20/12/2019 17:22

I find the Queen and Prince Philip's separate living arrangements odd enough already. It's even more bizarre that as he travels from Sandringham to London to be admitted to hospital, the Queen sticks to her plan to travel in exactly the opposite direction. Anyone would think they are actively avoiding each other these days.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 20/12/2019 17:22

I have friends who work at the Beeb who are having an unusually hectic day for this time of year. Make of that what you will.

But not to busy to tell “the girls” on WhatsApp Grin that’s not busy.

PlomBear · 20/12/2019 17:23

He’s had pernicious anaemia for years.

Fucck · 20/12/2019 17:23

Well, quite Pola. Grin

The very definition of someone saying "I know the scoop .... but I can't possibly tell you" is attention seeking.
You wanted people to jump on it and say oh pwetty pwease will you tell me the gossip while you stand there all smug saying "no I really can't"
I know a pola IRL and everyone thinks she's a 🍆

AlternativePerspective · 20/12/2019 17:26

@Butterymuffin I think it’s actually not that uncommon for those of the older generation to practically live separate lives.

SunshineCake · 20/12/2019 17:27

Anyone would think the royals care what the public think of their private arrangements.

bigbubbles · 20/12/2019 17:33

Charles and Camilla live in different houses- no-one thinks that is odd.

stairway · 20/12/2019 17:33

I doubt it’s serious, he has a while team of medical experts keeping him alive. He probably has a cough or something.
