He was taken there by helicopter, that beats waiting hours for an ambulance.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/12/2019 07:13

@tillytoodles1 What are you on tilly? Grin what are you reading to get the news? he was taken by car.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 21/12/2019 07:17

Helicopter and car....

countrygirl99 · 21/12/2019 07:36

When he was 17 my son had a long planned admission for major surgery on 19/12. But that was to minimise the time he missed from school. I doubt that's a factor here😊 More like maximising the time he can avoid Andrew.

Ihavethefinalsleigh · 21/12/2019 07:41

Noticed my mistake just now as I was reading the thread again. I’m such a stickler for spelling too. So pleased this place is anonymous

😂 I think you got away with it! It’s a pet hate of mine, sorry if I was patronising.

RandomlyChosenName · 21/12/2019 08:12

If he’s got Leukaemia, it’s probably chronic rather than acute. Depending on the stage, most people just live with it. It’s fairly common in the elderly and not usually a cause of death as far as I’m aware. Although if you reach the stage needing chemo it’s not nice...

Poor Prince Philip and his family. No matter their wealth and superior healthcare etc he’s 98 and in hospital. It’s not a nice situation for anyone. At that age your family worries if you sneeze.

I feel sad for anyone who is ill and hospital.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 21/12/2019 08:39

Even with the best treatment, he must still be made of stern stuff to reach 98. Let's hope this is only a blip and that he's back home as soon as possible.

Sparklybaublefest · 21/12/2019 09:38

I imagine it is planned blood transfusions for his anaemia, keep him well over the festive period

Butterymuffin · 21/12/2019 09:51

It's a very very different experience if you're an ordinary person in your late 90s to what PP will get. No delays in him getting his meds, meals, doctors coming round and so on. It'll be like being in a hotel with medical attention. Let's not imagine it compares in any way with standard pensioner hospital experiences.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/12/2019 11:44

How do people know he’s anaemic?

In DM, it said he had a fall; was helicoptered from Norfolk to London then driven to the hospital.

Prince Phillip lives on his own in Norfolk ( I presume he has staff)
Penny; Countess Mountbatten comes regularly to help take care of him.

The Queen and the Duke obviously have an understanding after such a long marriage. The media on the whole respect that.
I would imagine that Penny Mountbatten is by his side, and Phillip will see the Queen and wider family when he returns to Sandringham.

PlasticPatty · 21/12/2019 12:50

The only poster who made me concerned was the one who said the BBC were having a busy day.

tillytoodles1 · 21/12/2019 13:54

JinglingHellsBells I'm not on anything, have you seen the news today? It says he went by helicopter!

ManonBlackbeak · 21/12/2019 14:00

So this Penny woman is his bit on the side then? What a nice bloke then. Not...

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 21/12/2019 14:07

🙄

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 21/12/2019 14:08

So this Penny woman is his bit on the side then?

She's friends with both the Queen and Prince Phillip

PlomBear · 21/12/2019 14:43

My grandmother used to work for a member of the RF many moons ago so I heard a few things...

Sparklybaublefest · 21/12/2019 15:09

then share @plombear

birdsarecute45 · 21/12/2019 15:41

God I'd hate being a member of the RF. Never know who your friends are. People gossiping when you fart.

beautifulstranger101 · 21/12/2019 15:42

@plombear
go on........

Contractbother · 21/12/2019 15:55

Couldn't care less tbh. RF waste of money. No one comes over to see them. What are the chances they see them when they come over anyway. He's a stranger to me. There's a poster on here trying to get her dad home for Christmas but no support to do this. Whereas PP just walks into hospital gets a bed and no doubt will get support at home when he's ready for discharge.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/12/2019 17:11

@contractbrother Are you really saying you do not understand the benefits to the economy of the Royal Family? Tourism to see them and London runs into billions ( £1.8 billion in 2017) which pays for a lot of stuff you will use- the NHS , education, etc. It means that they only cost you 60 p a year. Think what it would cost without the tourism attraction.

I can't bear these so predictable comments about the RF and what they use. You don't have to be royal to use that hospital for a start. The fact that some posters here begrudge a 98 yr old man a decent hospital, who has served his country for 70 years and only retired at 95, are nothing short of disgusting. I bet half of you wouldn't bat an eyelid if it were a politician , or pop star, or footballer who was in the hospital.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/12/2019 17:12

That was for @Contractbother :)

Bluerussian · 21/12/2019 19:16

I hate scandal mongering gossip; Penny Countess Mountbatten is a good friend of both Queen and Prince Philip. She's had terrible tragedy in her own life and if she sees her role as a good companion, good for her.
