The speech is pre-recorded, but very close to the day, so it might not yet have been done. Even if it had been, then it could be re-done.

That the Queen is in Sandringham strongly suggests no cause for concern.

And they always announce when major Royals are admitted to hospital, because the rumour mill is far worse (and considerably more tasteless) if they don't.

kinsss · 20/12/2019 16:42

I'd say he will be fine in time. He's a surivor!

I Don't blame him swerving Sandringham if that's what he did.... but wish him well if otherwise.

Seeingadistance · 20/12/2019 16:45

He may be a “survivor” but he’s not immortal!

I have friends who work at the Beeb who are having an unusually hectic day for this time of year. Make of that what you will.

This reminds of the recent thread where every one was speculating on the death of the Queen , because people knew people who......

JohnLewisIain · 20/12/2019 16:51

Surely the BBC staff are busy with Brexit and the license fee today

kinsss · 20/12/2019 16:51

None of us is immortal. However, I hope he has made the great escape to a private room with yummy food and nice whisky and whatever. Must be better than mooching around Sandringham with all the crap that has been going on with his son and the forced jollity and NOISE.

I wish him well, and hope it is nothing serious, but that family is quite practical and a little cold if you ask me, so there will no deathbed gatherings I don't think. Probably what he wants anyway, stiff upper lip Officer Class.

He will emerge in Mid January or something and go on a carriage ride with Lady Sarah. Sorted.

Yes the OBIT tapes will be on standby now;!!

Brefugee · 20/12/2019 16:52

I'm sure he'll be fine and not waiting for hours on a trolley in a corridor

PolaDeVeboise · 20/12/2019 16:53

What I've said is a fact - it was mentioned in our girls' What's App ground earlier. Not claiming to 'know' anything more.

NewspaperTaxis · 20/12/2019 16:56

Isn't the BBC's hectic day to do with the Brexit vote?

SockQueen · 20/12/2019 16:56

@Brefugee KE VII is private, so I'm pretty sure he'll be ok on that front! There'll be paps queuing up outside though. I worked in a nearby hospital during one of his previous admissions and the press were getting in the way of our ambulances! Angry

Justaboy · 20/12/2019 16:57

I suppose the local hospital at Kings Lynn may not be as well equipped or have his fave consultant around. Course he could have stopped off at Addenbrookes Cambridge which is excellent but a 'ospital for 'hofficers it is then, can't be mingling wirh the "men"

Some news release saiid it had bene pre planned?.

Brefugee · 20/12/2019 16:59

blimey @SockQueen how bloody awful.
The more I read about them the more I want them to go

Pfefferkuchen · 20/12/2019 16:59

To stop leaks and rampant speculation.

and that's working so well Grin

@poladeveboise, no you're dropping crumbs and being deliberately vague to get attention! Off you pop 👋

beautifulstranger101 · 20/12/2019 17:01

Its a bit weird they keep saying it was a "planned admission"- what, right before Christmas? I highly doubt that.

Bluetrews25 · 20/12/2019 17:02

We find a lot of the elderly end up in hospital at this time of year. Some families do the drop and run (opposite of the click and collect, I think)....but sure that will not be the case with the Windsors.

HoHoHoik · 20/12/2019 17:05

All "planned admission" means is "not an emergency".

Yeats ago I took DD to the GP as she was unwell, GP decided she would be best off in hospital for IV antibiotic treatment as it was faster and more effective than oral antibiotics, his thought process was that she was going to get worse before the oral antibiotics kicked in and we would then up being an emergency admission via A&E. He rang the children's ward to say he needed a bed for her and why then off we went for a week long stay. It went down in her notes as a planned admission because it was pre-arranged before we arrived, albeit only an hour beforehand.

Sorry Blue, that made me laugh. I'm going to hell

PlasticPatty · 20/12/2019 17:07

They let him go into hospital when they think things will be too much for him. Good plan.

beautifulstranger101 · 20/12/2019 17:08

all "planned admission" means is "not an emergency" ah ok. I was thinking for a procedure thats been booked for months.
I was thinking- couldn't they make it another time other than right before Christmas?

JolieOBrien · 20/12/2019 17:08

He is very old and there a lot of bugs etc about at the moment. Not many people live to be a 100 so he has been lucky so far.

Bluntness100 · 20/12/2019 17:10

What a bonkers thread, I can't believe anyone would think the queeen and Philip would cook up a plot for him to go to hospital for a few days because she doesn't fancy doing a speech and needs an excuse.

Tin foil hats abound, 🤣
