Have you got a TV in your bedroom?!

I've just given in, for the first one since DH and I met 12 years ago. He's always wanted one. I can't decide if it will be cosy watching netflix or movies in bed, or if it makes me feel like a bit of a slob, like I should at least be up and dressed and in the sitting room if I'm watching TV.

Tell me good/bad things about it!

We do. DH never watches it unless he's ill. I don't watch it in the morning or daytime, only in the evening before bed and not everyday. It's nice to have the option :)

CrazyCatLady159 · 18/12/2019 14:12

I've got one - always had one in my room though

It's great for when I'm sick!

I love laying in bed watching tv weather I'm sick or not though as I love being warm

Whatsnewpussyhat · 18/12/2019 14:13

No, never have.
I've also never done the whole sitting in bed thing. Not to read or play with phone etc.

I need dark and quiet.

Moominfan · 18/12/2019 14:13

No I don't like watching tv in bed, sanctuary from technology for me

yorkshiregodscountry · 18/12/2019 14:14

Yes I do.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 18/12/2019 14:14

Yup. I know it's very infra dig on MN, but IMO lots of the naysayers have a bigger house than me, and so somewhere better for a second TV. I'd rather in my bedroom than the dining room. I watch it on the bed rather than in the bed IYSWIM - I watch early evening rather than tucked up at bedtime.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 18/12/2019 14:15

We got rid of ours from the bedroom this year when redecorating. I really don’t miss it.

Bluntness100 · 18/12/2019 14:15

No, and wouldn't have one, no desire to lay in bed watching tv.

OceanSunFish · 18/12/2019 14:16

No, and the DC don’t either. We have two downstairs.

Floralnomad · 18/12/2019 14:16

We do but I always have , I watch it every night , I usually go up about 10 and the TV stays on until I go to sleep which is usually 1or 2 am .

pumpkinpie01 · 18/12/2019 14:18

We do, it's nice to snuggle up in bed and watch a film sometimes.

flipperdoda · 18/12/2019 14:18

Nope. Grew up with one TV in the house for a seven person family, never really saw the need for another (although of course went through a phase of wanting one in early teens!).

I currently live alone without a TV but use laptop to watch things - so I suppose I have a moveable TV!? I watched something in bed yesterday but only because I was ill. 99% of the time, I watch stuff in the living room and my bedroom is reserved for books (which also are in the living room!)

WhatHaveIFound · 18/12/2019 14:19

We do but we also have a sofa for watching tv on. We don't have a tv in the living room though.

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/12/2019 14:19

No. Bed isn’t for watching tv. Hate the idea.

notacooldad · 18/12/2019 14:20

No I haven't got a tv I my room.
I'm not against them but just never had one!

FabLaura · 18/12/2019 14:21

We don't cause I think you get better sleep in a tech free room

Angie6868 · 18/12/2019 14:21

No. I don't have one

PotteringAlong · 18/12/2019 14:21

No.

TreeSwayer · 18/12/2019 14:23

Yes but it is hidden in a double wardrobe. I have a medical condition that can see me bedridden so I chromecast from my chromebook onto the big TV.

My children are 16 and 13 (boys) and luckily our bed is a superking so all 4 of us can fit in it together and watch a film. It is quite a lovely feeling all snugged up together under the duvet. No food allowed though.

An no the children do not have TVs in their rooms.

homemadecommunistrussia · 18/12/2019 14:24

Yes, but it's aimed at the sofa not the bed, so it's just for watching something different. It would be awful if we all had to watch the same programmes each time.

Nottobesoldseparately · 18/12/2019 14:27

We have one, but we don't really use it.

DH will watch football on it (I hate it, so he happily leaves me in peace downstairs with the dog) or we will put it on for coverage of a big breaking news story if we are still in bed.

But other than that, we don't use it.

lauryloo · 18/12/2019 14:29

no, i would just stay up late watching rubbish.

MrsBungle · 18/12/2019 14:30

No but I’d love one. Dh refuses though Hmm

Kinsters · 18/12/2019 14:30

Same as WhatHaveIFound, we use our bedroom as a bedroom/lounge area so the TV and sofa are in there. Not sure what we'll do when kids (currently unborn!) are older but that's something we don't need to think about for ages.

When we lived in just a room we'd watch TV in bed but make the bed like a sofa so put lots of pillows against the headboard and not sit under the covers.

YorkieTheRabbit · 18/12/2019 14:31

No, we’re not big telly watchers anyway. Maybe an hour or so in an evening, it’s only ever on during the day for rugby internationals or the six nations. Radio is on most of the time though.
