Have you got a TV in your bedroom?!

I've just given in, for the first one since DH and I met 12 years ago. He's always wanted one. I can't decide if it will be cosy watching netflix or movies in bed, or if it makes me feel like a bit of a slob, like I should at least be up and dressed and in the sitting room if I'm watching TV.

Tell me good/bad things about it!

Yes. I watch it quite a bit in evenings as DH watches a lot of football and I like sitting cozy on the bed with lots of pillows behind me!

KilljoysDutch · 18/12/2019 14:33

Yes, but it doesn't point towards the bed it's next to it but facing the same direction as the bed. I use my desk chair with it and it's pretty much only ever used for playing games. I take the laptop to bed if I want to watch tv Grin but my bedroom is also my craft/rat room and I almost live in it. I need the downtime away from everyone else due to my MH.

Missillusioned · 18/12/2019 14:33

Yes, but I'm single. Means I don't have to heat the house after kids are in bed - I just go to bed and watch Tv there.

CuteOrangeElephant · 18/12/2019 14:34

We have one because we were gifted it.

It mainly gets used to let my toddler watch Cbeebies so I can lay in bed for another half an hour!

QueenofPain · 18/12/2019 14:35

I have one, I think I fall asleep a lot easier with the distraction of the telly rather than laying in the dark with my own thoughts whizzing round my head.

Sometimes the best part of my day is getting in bed to watch something silly with DP while we have some snuggles and chill together. Particular faves to zone out to have been Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community and Parks and Rec.

Monkeybunkey · 18/12/2019 14:36

Yes, a big one. Put it on sleep timer every night to fall asleep to.

potter5 · 18/12/2019 14:37

Yes, listen to the football on Radio 5 Live.

Ohyesiam · 18/12/2019 14:40

No.
I used to be a nurse and I think I associate it with incapacity and little choice but to watch telly and be ill.
If i I was disabled I would though.

ginyogarepeat · 18/12/2019 14:45

Yep, but never watch it at bedtime. Put the morning news on when I get up and am pottering about, and then have it on if I'm putting on makeup or doing my hair. Never at night though.

BillywigSting · 18/12/2019 14:46

I do but only as a monitor to play retro video games on with dp like the pair of utter nerds we are.

We sometimes watch Netflix on the iPad in bed so I suppose that counts

sifted · 18/12/2019 14:53

Didn't until this house , we occasionally watch a movie at bedtime and snuggle , it's a treat rather than a regular thing and it's really nice , but then we watch very little tv anyway

EpcotForever · 18/12/2019 14:56

Yes we do, rarely watch it though.

MurrayTheMonk · 18/12/2019 14:57

Yes. I love watching telly in bed and I always watch the ten o Clock news on it.

Also handy for when ill, or when DD's want to watch something different to what's on the downstairs TV.

Jinglyshoeswithbellson · 18/12/2019 14:58

We do.

Like watching the news before going to sleep and then the news in the morning with a cup of coffee while waking up.

goodwinter · 18/12/2019 14:58

No, but I stream stuff on my laptop and take that to bed with me instead.

Bunnylady53 · 18/12/2019 14:59

No have always been anti, especially for kids. Tech free bedrooms are the way to go

Whoops75 · 18/12/2019 14:59

Yes but we don’t watch it together, I use it when dh is away(often)

Dd uses it when she doesn’t like the show on downstairs.

It’s handy, we struggled with only one TV

Kuponut · 18/12/2019 15:00

Yep - I like the news on on a morning while I'm getting dressed.

Stroan · 18/12/2019 15:01

No, DH and I would never see each other if we did. I can't see us letting the DC have one in theirs for a long time either.

selmabear · 18/12/2019 15:01

Yep, so do my 2 DC. It's nice to have the option chilling put on your own in your own space watching something you enjoy.

GoGoLego · 18/12/2019 15:08

I do. It's not an awful lot. Just the news or if I want to watch crappy tv and the rest of the house doesn't. I had it on last Thursday for the election results fell asleep to it and woke up at 5am to the results

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 18/12/2019 15:09

One of life’s greatest pleasures is watching tv in bed. I don’t know why you wouldn’t, it’s lovely!

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 18/12/2019 15:10

No.

BillyAndTheSillies · 18/12/2019 15:10

No. Just the one TV in our house. Had toyed with getting one for the bedroom while I was on maternity leave but figured I'd just stay in bed all day watching it.

We've got two children now so we will probably need another TV at some point for gaming or just watching other stuff.

Boireannachlaidir · 18/12/2019 15:17

No I hate TVs in bedrooms and it annoyed me that a gorgeously old fashioned glamour hotel I absolutely loved finally installed them in every room.

Each to their own though. I wouldn't judge just not my cup of tea.
