Have you got a TV in your bedroom?!

I've just given in, for the first one since DH and I met 12 years ago. He's always wanted one. I can't decide if it will be cosy watching netflix or movies in bed, or if it makes me feel like a bit of a slob, like I should at least be up and dressed and in the sitting room if I'm watching TV.

Tell me good/bad things about it!

No.

ToTheRegimentIWishIWasThere · 18/12/2019 19:25

Sparkling i believe he shit on (literally) his friend or something while making a comedy video. Googled him recently, I knew here was something off about him Grin

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 18/12/2019 19:28

Yes, we do. I have the news on in the morning and I put it on if I’m upstairs doing a bedroom cleaning session. Less boring that way. I rarely watch it actually in bed though, unless unwell.

On the other hand, I read every night in bed.

yellowallpaper · 18/12/2019 19:29

Yes, it's lovely to lie in a warm bed watching a tv program you want rather than crap football which your DH is watching downstairs

IvinghoeBeacon · 18/12/2019 19:31

No, but I didn’t grow up with one either. We do very occasionally watch something on the iPad in bed but I fall asleep within about 5 mins of lying down so I have to catch up later so it’s a bit pointless really

IncyWincyGrownUp · 18/12/2019 19:32

No, I’m another that needs dark and quiet for sleep.

I had one as a teen, but it was rarely used at bedtime. I would record stuff and listen to it while doing homework.

Itstheprinciple · 18/12/2019 19:37

Ooh yes, watch it every morning for the news and most nights as I like to go to bed early and put 10 o clock news on to drift off to.

madcatladyforever · 18/12/2019 19:40

I live alone and I love going to bed really early and watching a bit of tv with the cat. So cosy in winter.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 18/12/2019 19:42

No, not had one in my bedroom since my flat sharing days. But tbh, haven't watched tv in bed since the hollyoaks ombudsman on a Sunday morning whilst hungover at Uni!

We do have a 2nd tv, but it rarely gets used except for DC on Xbox. DH would maybe watch it in the bedroom, but there isn't really anywhere to put one easily.

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2019 19:44

I do have dark and quiet for sleep still, because the TV is off then.

YY @ToTheRegimentIWishIWasThere it was all a bit alarming!

Sarcelle · 18/12/2019 19:46

We have one. Not sure why, we never watch it. I plan on reviving my fitness in NY and will be doing my You Tube workouts on it so it will come into use.

BentNeckLady · 18/12/2019 19:50

No but we watch TV on my ipad when we go to bed.

ExpletiveFairylighted · 18/12/2019 19:57

You can still have dark and quiet to go to sleep by using the off button.

Corrag · 18/12/2019 20:01

We have one as I like to watch the news while I'm having a cup of tea in bed on the mornings when I'm not working. Never watch it at any other time though.

Roselilly36 · 18/12/2019 20:04

We have never had a tv in our bedroom, a bedroom is a sanctuary from tech IMHO.

Kensie · 18/12/2019 20:05

Yes

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2019 20:08

The key to getting properly comfortable while watching TV in bed is all down to specific pillow/cushion placement.

lucysmam · 18/12/2019 20:09

I have three 🙄 two are broken & one that works - a friend gave me it when mine fell off the wall three weeks ago. The working one hasn't been used up there & I'm not entirely sure what to do with the broken ones.

Ragwort · 18/12/2019 20:12

No, my bedroom is my sanctuary, peaceful and totally quiet, no noise, no tv, music or radio; I will read in bed. No one else allowed in (including my DH who has his own room Grin).

I honestly don’t think I could lie in bed and watch a film, it would just ‘feel wrong’ (illogical I know, but that’s just how I feel).

AnuvvaMuvva · 18/12/2019 20:25

We do. It hardly ever gets used, though. If one of us is ill, it's quite cosy, or sometimes DS2 and I will snuggle up and watch something.

I don't let the DC have TVs in their rooms (they're still quite young though). I'm not sure why, other than I wasn't allowed one until I was 20!

EmmiJay · 18/12/2019 20:29

Yep I have a humongous (50") flat screen in my bedroom. I'll disappear into my bedroom to watch it in the evenings, because my DD is dancing and singing her heart out in the living room. Its on when I'm doing cleaning on that side of the flat or ironing but I don't watch it at night. I need my peace at night lol.

Spacerader · 18/12/2019 20:29

We did, then we decorated our room and dp didn't want a TV in there. We went a year and a half then got a tv. It's not used loads. Mostly if we both want to watch different things, so I will go upstairs. Or the very rare lazy sunday morning we will lay in bed and watch tv together.

LlamaofDrama · 18/12/2019 20:35

No, never have had. Just one TV in the house. On the rare occasions when we both want to watch something live then one of us takes the laptop to the bedroom but that is probably only a couple of times a year.

hopeishere · 18/12/2019 20:45

Yes. We have the news on in the morning. Kids love watching it snuggled in our bed. Sometimes I want to watch something on my own. 🤷🏻‍♀️

nowaypose · 18/12/2019 21:41

Nope, never have. If I’m sick I watch things on the MacBook.
