Have you got a TV in your bedroom?!

I've just given in, for the first one since DH and I met 12 years ago. He's always wanted one. I can't decide if it will be cosy watching netflix or movies in bed, or if it makes me feel like a bit of a slob, like I should at least be up and dressed and in the sitting room if I'm watching TV.

Tell me good/bad things about it!

Yes. Love watching cartoons in bed with the DC in the morning all together.

Also sometimes DH wants to watch some history stuff on TV in the evenings and I want to watch crap so I'll come in to the bedroom to watch on my own.

Dazedandconfused10 · 18/12/2019 21:43

In the bedroom in winter in the summer it loves in the conservatory. I don't watch in the evening but weekends I can do my own thing watch my telly and if it's in the bedroom and I'm hungover. Wonderful.

thistimelastweek · 18/12/2019 21:48

We had one and got rid of it by choice.
The weird thing is though, I just love one in a hotel bedroom. Turn it on as soon as my eyes open

alreadytaken · 18/12/2019 21:57

No. If I wanted to watch something different I could take a laptop up there but dont believe in tech in bedrooms.

georgialondon · 18/12/2019 22:01

We do. We only watch it if Ill in bed. But my daughter likes watching CBeebies on it in the morning.

Northernsoullover · 18/12/2019 22:02

I used to in my old house. I developed the habit when I lived in a house that never got warm so I took to watching tv in bed.
Now I live somewhere warmer I've given up the habit. I don't miss it.

megletthesecond · 18/12/2019 22:06

Yes. Lying in bed watching the late news is the only peace I get.

The DC's prefer lying around on my bed watching evening tv with me than watching it in the living room. Apparently my room is cosier.

Annasgirl · 18/12/2019 22:07

No, friend told me years ago it was the only way to keep a marriage alive - no TV in bedroom (he was a male friend and was married 9 years before me). Also never wanted DC to have one in bedroom so that made it easy. But DH loves TV and his favourite part of staying away a hotel is having a TV in bedroom. However, he has it on all the time when we are away so it reinforces my idea that he would have it on all the time if we had one at home. But then, he has a phone beside the bed so I could argue that is almost as bad these days.

AgeLikeWine · 18/12/2019 22:08

No.

We only own one TV, it’s in the sitting room. There are radios in every room, though.

Bouledeneige · 18/12/2019 22:33

No but is just watch films and tv programmes on my laptop so I don't need one.

HoldMyLobster · 18/12/2019 23:48

We do, but I don't judge others who don't. Each to their own.

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 18/12/2019 23:52

Nope, was never allowed one growing up, patents argument was that I'd spend all my time in my room watching tv and they didn't want that. Never felt the need in the 12 years dh and I have lived together.

FoamingAtTheUterus · 18/12/2019 23:57

We do as the ps4 is in our room. Never watch it tho, ds plays Minecraft on occasion.

Horehound · 18/12/2019 23:58

Nope

Bluesheep8 · 19/12/2019 05:54

No. Never have. We have one tv in the lounge. And it's not a massive wall mounted flatscreen one as just not my preference

IvinghoeBeacon · 19/12/2019 07:34

Ooh good job you qualified that it’s not a huge wall mounted flatscreen as I would have definitely assumed it was, lucky escape!

Ihatesundays · 19/12/2019 07:39

DH bought me one. I use it when I am poorly (so does DC).
I also watch when sorting laundry and wrapping Christmas presents etc.
It’s a lifesaver the during World Cup.

I also have an exercise bike which I use a lot so I watch movies when I am on there.
I didn’t want one but it was an xmas present and it’s been quite useful in the end.

AltheaVestr1t · 19/12/2019 07:46

No, but I did when DD was a baby and never slept. I ended up getting rid of it as I found that DH would stay up later than me watching tv and I would fall asleep every night listening - very distracting. Bed is for books!

transformandriseup · 19/12/2019 07:47

Not since I moved out of my parents house. We only have one TV in the living room now.

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 19/12/2019 07:50

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/12/2019 07:59

No,my bedroom is for sleeping in,not watching tv

Isn't that like saying your front room is for sitting not watching TV? Does each room have only one purpose?

sashh · 19/12/2019 08:00

Yes but for a number of years I lived in shared houses / hospital accommodation so I had a bedroom and everything else shared.

Now I have a few health issues so I sometimes spend quite a bit of time in bed.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 19/12/2019 08:02

Yep.

I tend to watch it whilst getting ready to go out. Very rarely will I lie in bed watching TV. Although I was unwell the other day so watched some films.

Wynteriscoming · 19/12/2019 08:06

We got a smallish TV in our bedroom when my baby was cluster feeding like crazy. These days I only really watch it whilst folding and putting away the laundry as it's a job I hate Grin

NewName73 · 19/12/2019 08:09

No.

We have one TV in our sitting room, that's all.
