Have you got a TV in your bedroom?!

I've just given in, for the first one since DH and I met 12 years ago. He's always wanted one. I can't decide if it will be cosy watching netflix or movies in bed, or if it makes me feel like a bit of a slob, like I should at least be up and dressed and in the sitting room if I'm watching TV.

Tell me good/bad things about it!

Yes, we have one. Before our Son we would happily snuggle together watching movies in bed, going Back to bed In the afternoon, then watching a film.

My hubby has tinnitus, so it helps with a bit of background noise dropping off.

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 18/12/2019 17:30

No. I think it's more relaxing if your bedroom is just for sleeping in and I don't like having the TV on for long periods, watching things for the sake of it. I put it on for specific programmes, then switch it off again.

Undies1990 · 18/12/2019 17:31

Yes, it is one of life's great pleasures! I love to snuggle in bed and watch a movie. My cat loves it too!
I also like to have the news on while I get ready each morning.

LouisaJenny · 18/12/2019 17:35

No, but only really because I don’t have the space for it. I watch my ipad in bed quite a lot.

MotherHeggy · 18/12/2019 17:35

No,my bedroom is for sleeping in,not watching tv.

ActualHornist · 18/12/2019 17:40

Yes.

It's for playing xbox on (kids, not me, so they can play together) and when I'm tidying up I procrastinate by watching tv at the same time Blush

Otherwise we don't watch it tbh.

(I also agree that it's easy to say you'd never have a tv in your room when you have lots of space. We don't).

danmthatonestakentryanotheer · 18/12/2019 17:40

Nope. I only have 1 t.v in the whole house.

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2019 17:41

Yes and it's huge. Grin Love watching tv in bed, and I like the news on in the mornings.
Love having a cuppa on a Sunday morning and watching tv in bed. Sometimes I even have the tv on and be on the laptop at the same time. Shock

I have no trouble with my 'sleep hygiene' at all.

Lipperfromchipper · 18/12/2019 17:49

No! Never will and I won’t let the dc either!!

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2019 17:55

Both DC (20 and 17) have had TVs in their rooms for years. They use them for gaming. Anthing they want to watch they do on laptops/Ipads.

But I had a TV in my room growing up. Mainly because I didn't want to watch what my parents did.

mistletoeandmerlot · 18/12/2019 17:55

No TVs upstairs at all. Downstairs crazy noisy (which is fine!). Upstairs peaceful. If I'm keen to go to bed early and watch something I take iPad and earphones.

This Grin and I have a three year old and I stick the TV on for him if I want a lie in. Zero fucks given 📺Grin

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2019 18:00

Grin ToTheRegimentIWishIWasThere. I used to watch Elmo's World in bed with DS1 in the morning when he was little.

twoturtledove · 18/12/2019 18:06

Yes but we use it maybe 3-4 times a month!

greeentopmilk · 18/12/2019 18:12

I do! I don't give a shit if anybody thinks it's lazy and slobby (it isn't).

I love it in the winter when it's really cold going up to bed early with a cup of tea and getting all cosy to watch tv.

lynsey91 · 18/12/2019 18:12

No. We only have the 1 tv and it's in the living room. DH did suggest it a few times in probably the first couple of years but I was never keen and 40 years on we never have.

I absolutely hate it when you have to sit on/in or lie on/in the bed in a hotel to watch the tv. It's just not comfortable at all.

Celebelly · 18/12/2019 18:18

Yes. Tucked up in bed with something good on the telly and a cup of tea. Splendid. Also a godsend for my first trimester when I spent a lot of time in bed!

Jellybellythatsme · 18/12/2019 18:22

No Tv in any bedrooms in my house.

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2019 18:24

No TVs in bedrooms, there was one on the wall when we bought but we got rid of the brackets when repainting. But I do sometimes watch stuff on the laptop.

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 18/12/2019 18:24

Yes, and always have done since about 13.

There's nothing I like better than getting into bed and watching some TV - I feel like I can finally relax.
I fall asleep to the TV each night too, can't fall asleep in silence.
Also comes in handy when DP wants to watch his superhero films (which bore the absolute life out of me.)

ToTheRegimentIWishIWasThere · 18/12/2019 18:28

Sparklingbrook DS loves Blippi, annoying, hyperactive, high pitched American bloke in his 30s. Couldn't recommend him less. Although If I turn it down and put the pillow over my head I get about another 40 minutes shut eye Grin

BertieDrapper · 18/12/2019 18:30

We do but it's a bit old and half the free view channels are missing. It's not a smart TV or anything so can't even get Netflix! 😤
So it's mainly used for watching CBeebies, on early weekend mornings or homes under the hammer!

We do plan to upgrade it at some point though

I have recently heard of Blippi. Apparently he has an interesting past.

pontiouspilates · 18/12/2019 19:24

No, if poorly I might take an ipad up to watch something on, but don't think I've done that for about 3 years. I do however love to read in bed.
