Have you got a TV in your bedroom?!

I've just given in, for the first one since DH and I met 12 years ago. He's always wanted one. I can't decide if it will be cosy watching netflix or movies in bed, or if it makes me feel like a bit of a slob, like I should at least be up and dressed and in the sitting room if I'm watching TV.

Tell me good/bad things about it!

No. House rule. Maybe devices allowed up to watch TV when one of us is poorly. But usually snuggle under a duvet in the living room for that.

supercee · 19/12/2019 08:11

I used to watch the tv in my room to get ready for work in the morning and that's it. Now I work shifts it's rarely on. If I watch anything properly lying down I fall asleep.

I do sometimes watch my iPad in bed when there's a big redundant tv in the background

Megan2018 · 19/12/2019 08:14

Yes, but I have a newborn and it gets me through the nights! Once baby is older it’ll go downstairs as a second TV.

Zenithbear · 19/12/2019 08:18

Yes we do. Watch films on it once or twice a week.

Womenwotlunch · 19/12/2019 08:20

I have one in my room but I don’t agree with dc under the age of sixteen having one in their room

Honeybee85 · 19/12/2019 08:20

I don’t though I love watching Netflix during the weekend from the tablet on the bed, accompanied by absolutely nobody except a can of Pepsi and chocolate or crisps. Heavenly Blush

Fanlights · 19/12/2019 09:18

No. Having more than one tv in the house is a sign of imminent apocalypse.

I read comments like this and presume posters live in houses with a 'snug' with an extra TV.

longwayoff · 19/12/2019 09:41

No TV in bedroom but very comfy sofas in sitting room. I fear if I switched on a tv in bed, I'd never get upXmas Smile

Or that all family members aren't glued to the TV?

Jolonglegs · 19/12/2019 10:52

One TV in the house is enough. Bedrooms are not for watching TV.

Try to say that less sanctamoniously, gone on try,it's ChristmasWink

ShristmasChopper · 19/12/2019 11:20

Yes a huge one. It used to be in our lounge but dh upgraded that one and so this 42 inch one is now on the bedroom wall.
I love it.
I have it on music channels when getting ready to go out. It's great to catch up with stuff when I'm getting up at 2.30am for work, doing make up etc and was sleeping when something i wanted to watch was in at 8pm the night before when I was sleeping.
I use it to.drown out next door shagging, baby screaming, dogs barking too.
Sometimes whwn I'm alone in the house I'll go upto bed early and watch tv snuggled in bed and turn the heating off as its only me there.
I love it and never have an issue sleeping etc. In fact I sleep better with it in there now as I can't get wound up about next doors noise as it drowns it out.

CMOTDibbler · 19/12/2019 11:36

Yes, but it really only gets used once a week when dh and I watch a programme which finishes later than I would like to go to bed. I'd very happily only have the one TV in the house

Sparklingbrook · 19/12/2019 19:28

Bedrooms are not for watching TV.

I think this thread proves otherwise. Grin

teenagetantrums · 19/12/2019 19:34

Yes k do. Don't watch it that much. Maybe film in evening or sometimes new while getting ready for work. My kids all grown now but they had a v in their rooms from maybe year 6 and laptops and phones. No one died and everyone went to uni and got a job. I don't know understand why people think tv is do bad.

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 20/12/2019 00:57

I don't understand the people who prefer to watch TV/films on an iPad or laptop screen.

How do you get comfortable? Isn't the screen too small?

I love my TV, couldn't give up a large plasma screen for my small(ish) iPad screen (which I'd probably have to hold whilst watching.)

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 20/12/2019 03:41

We used to, but it didn’t get used so we gave it away.

RhythimIsRhythim · 20/12/2019 03:47

No. But I have a stand for my tablet that clips onto the side of the bed and I sometimes watch stuff on that instead.

RhythimIsRhythim · 20/12/2019 03:51

Bauble The screen is smaller, but if you position it closer to you it works out the same as a larger screen further away. As I said I have a stand for it that clips onto side of the bed. Same stand can also hook over my knees if I want to browse stuff lying down.
