What do you still buy that you're convinced no one else still does?

Title may have been a slight exaggeration, but is there anything you continue to purchase ( be it groceries, cleaning products, home bits etc) that is maybe seen as outdated, useless, old fashioned or just generally unliked by the masses , that you continue to buy?

Mine is Fisherman's Friend. I love them but have never found anyone else who still buys them!

Boil in the bag cod in butter sauce. Don't think anyone else has bought them since the 1970s. They remind me of my mum.

SpinneyHill · 15/10/2019 11:29

Another boil in the bag fan here, also love bovril and crispy pancakes

SomewhereInbetween1 · 15/10/2019 11:30

Scarlett555 I've not seen them, but they sound delicious!

I still buy fisherman's friends! Pretty much always have a packet around.

ladyratterley · 15/10/2019 11:30

My DP buys Fisherman's Friend too! Horrible things.

SpinneyHill · 15/10/2019 11:30

Lorne sausages(square sausage meat without skin for those who don't know) always get a reaction when I offer them

missmouse101 · 15/10/2019 11:31

£10 a month mobile phone top up voucher. Fray Bentos pies. Angel Delight.

Loopytiles · 15/10/2019 11:32

Angel Delight still exists?! Must get some to give DC a taste of my childhood!

DH uses hankies and complains they are hard to find.

peachgreen · 15/10/2019 11:32

Ooh I've always got a packet of Angel Delight in the cupboard!

Mine is semolina. And I mix it with custard powder to make rice creamola because you can't buy that any more!

FastAway · 15/10/2019 11:36

I’ve just bought a salad spinner.

Redshoeblueshoe · 15/10/2019 11:37

Salad cream
Tinned fruit

Em8725 · 15/10/2019 11:42

Tin of spam, I always have one in the cupboard.

My Nan buys fisherman’s friends, always gives me a packet for Christmas 😂

IncrediblySadToo · 15/10/2019 11:43

You must have missed the thread about this about a month ago it was really interesting. No idea how to find it now though!

I eat Keto these days, but if I didn’t I’d buy some Findus Cheese things. I lived with a relative when I first went vegetarian and she hated anyone in her kitchen and was a hard core meat eater, so I practically lived on the bloody things 🤣. Haven’t had one in years.

Even after the long list on the other thread, I still can’t think of anything (food or otherwise) that I still buy that’s considered ‘out dated’ 🤔

Wherearemyminions · 15/10/2019 11:43

Brasso, Goddards foaming silver cleaner and dried marrowfat peas, all getting harder to find other than online!

suspended · 15/10/2019 11:44

Angel Delight

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 15/10/2019 11:44

@Scarlett555 I buy the ones in Parsley sauce, don't like the butter sauce

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 15/10/2019 11:46

@SpinneyHill I love Lorne sausage, best from a Scottish butchers not the frozen crap though

Scarlett555 · 15/10/2019 11:50

@SheSaidNoFuckThat the parsley sauce ones are easier to come by so must be more popular. I only like the butter sauce ones. My mum used to make them for me with mashed potatoes and peas. Ultimate comfort food.

Ohilovedinosaurs · 15/10/2019 11:50

@Loopytiles I saw loads of hankies in Debenham last week. DP and I had a conversation wondering who on earth still buys them (and now we know Wink) but, in hindsight, I expect they'll be the next eco ethical thing being boasted about by the eco insta huns. Cloth bums, wipes, reusable bags, no plastic, hankies replacing tissues must be next

SpringIsSprung1 · 15/10/2019 11:59

I still use gravy browning or gravy salt. My mum made the best roast beef gravy with itSmile

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 15/10/2019 12:01

@Scarlett555 Farmfoods and my local Asda sell them both, Asda have their own in butter sauce too

Pearce Duff's blancmange, delicious, the skin is the best part. Another Angel Delight fan too!

Dried marrowfat peas. Boxes of dried soup mix - dried veg and barley to stick in a broth.

My parents still buy tinned chopped pork, they have it with salad and jacket potatoes. Also those shelf stable sponge flan cases, which we'd make up as a dessert with tinned peaches and quick jel, and serve with tinned evaporated milk - it's really lovely! Never met anyone else who still buys evap but it's nice, you can have a bowl of chopped up bananas covered with evap sprinkled with sugar and it's delicious...
