What do you still buy that you're convinced no one else still does?

Title may have been a slight exaggeration, but is there anything you continue to purchase ( be it groceries, cleaning products, home bits etc) that is maybe seen as outdated, useless, old fashioned or just generally unliked by the masses , that you continue to buy?

Mine is Fisherman's Friend. I love them but have never found anyone else who still buys them!

Atora suet (in the blue pack) for making dumplings.
Greaseproof paper for lining tins etc.

SuburbanCrofter · 15/10/2019 12:53

Eighties crisps - Monster Munch, Frazzles etc.

Also bicarbonate of soda for various cleaning requirements - I buy it bulk on Amazon. I'm probably on some terrorist watchlist somewhere for suspicious purchase of chemicals Grin

Andrews Liver Salts, dried mushy peas (with the bicarb tablet), brillo pads, bar soap, cartridges for my fountain pen, polo mints...

Nokeysnoentry · 15/10/2019 12:55

Fry’s peppermint cream.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 15/10/2019 12:56

OverthinkingThis we use way too much salad cream for sandwiches mixes (tuna, egg) and sometimes fruit cocktail is ideal for 3 year olds pudding.

Redshoeblueshoe · 15/10/2019 12:57

I've got a packet of Atora in the cupboard.
Pen cartridges, the silver cleaning stuff.
And I have a compact case with a mirror

TheFaerieQueene · 15/10/2019 12:57

Big box washing powder (Persil). It comes in a cardboard box ( so no plastic box or bottle) and washes better than liquid/capsules. It is much cheaper too!

Redshoeblueshoe · 15/10/2019 12:58

Fry's peppermint cream is in B&Ms

peachgreen · 15/10/2019 12:58

Ooh, primula cheese in a tube.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 15/10/2019 12:59

I've just bought a pocket diary for next year! First time for years and years. I think it will be much easier to put appointments in there than fiddling with my phone at dentist/hairdresser, etc. Will still transfer to phone when I have time.

neonglow · 15/10/2019 13:03

Oh I used to love chocolate angel delight with choc magic stars mixed in

Mrsjayy · 15/10/2019 13:04

I buy dried broth mix and cod in parsely sauce Young's is the best one. I buy square packet ham everyone seems to be avoiding processed meat these days

AuntieMarys · 15/10/2019 13:04

thefaeriequeen I buy Persil in boxes too

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 15/10/2019 13:05

Ambrosia old-fashioned rice pudding in a tin with sultanas! Mmmmm!

sniffsneeze · 15/10/2019 13:05

DH loves fisherman's friends

Rockbird · 15/10/2019 13:08

Sorry but I'm about to win the thread. I am sitting at work eating...

A Shippams chicken spread sandwich! Yum.

walkintheparc · 15/10/2019 13:08

Yes to bar soap! I actually started buying it because of Mumsnet and it's a real game-changer. I underestimated how clean my hands would feel and I don't miss the smell of chemicals or perfumes!

Hankies are absolutely disgusting though, sorry. I don't want to carry around a phlegm rag around with me and then put it in my washing machine.

Sweetooth92 · 15/10/2019 13:09

Atora suet, and tinned minced beef (only used on jacket potatoes, in a school fridays throwback kind of way!)

Mrsjayy · 15/10/2019 13:09

I get ginormous boxes of washing powder in farmfoods when they are on offer last for months.

PrivateSpidey · 15/10/2019 13:15

Fry's fans: you can get multipacks in Poundland as well. Also, last Christmas Iceland did a Fry's selection box - it was great and a total bargain, like a couple of quid. I need to go back and see if they're doing them this year - possibly too early just yet though.

I also buy/use ink cartridges (I like Kaweco), bar soap and some of the other stuff on here.

And dandelion and burdock! Love it. My family refuse to try it on the principle that it contains dandelions (I doubt it actually does but anyway - all the more for me). That seems quite old school.

Auntyfannybaws · 15/10/2019 13:17

Everyone in Scotland still buys Lorne sausage! I think I buy most things mentioned, I'm an old soul.

Slaymill · 15/10/2019 13:17

I love Oxtail for stew with pearl barley and pudding rice for a comforting pud.

I used to love karvol capsules for flu they have Klear-vol now which are rubbish.
.
For my fire wood flamers and wood spills.

I miss Dreft powder which is still available in the US I believe.

One thing out of fashion is a nightclothes holder. My oldest had a Mickey mouse I don't think they even make them now.

Mrsjayy · 15/10/2019 13:21

Iceland has the Fry's selection box in I saw it last week and told everyone .

TheFaerieQueene · 15/10/2019 13:22

To all the box washing powder people, I think it makes the laundry smell so much nicer too!

chocatoo · 15/10/2019 13:23

Ambrosia tinned tapioca pudding (known as frogspawn in our house). Yummy!
