What do you still buy that you're convinced no one else still does?

Title may have been a slight exaggeration, but is there anything you continue to purchase ( be it groceries, cleaning products, home bits etc) that is maybe seen as outdated, useless, old fashioned or just generally unliked by the masses , that you continue to buy?

Mine is Fisherman's Friend. I love them but have never found anyone else who still buys them!

Shake and Vac - smells of me granny

isayhitocats · 15/10/2019 12:15

Bar soap

Letsgotospain · 15/10/2019 12:16

Tinned fish in sauce, I'm having tinned sardines in chilli sauce on toast for lunch. I'm sure others must buy it, but I never see anyone eating them.

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 15/10/2019 12:19

@joyfullittlehippo bar soap is in the middle of a comeback, less packaging etc

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 15/10/2019 12:24

I always buy cakes of soap.

I bloody love Vesta Chow Mein, whenever I see it I stock up. The crispy noodles aren't the same though, they don't puff up as well as they used to 20 odd years ago.

peachgreen · 15/10/2019 12:26

Andrews Liver Salts is another one I always have in stock - no idea what it's meant to do but I always take it when I'm nauseous!

Wombleish · 15/10/2019 12:29

Love Angel Delight but never have it any more because of the palm oil Sad

larry5 · 15/10/2019 12:30

I have changed back to dove soap as I find it last longer than shower gel,is better for my skin and better for the planet.

We like pasta and sauce packets - mainly used when we are on a camping holiday but at home I mix a packet of pasta and sauce with lots of veg and put grated cheese on top and grill to brown.

Wombleish · 15/10/2019 12:30

I make and use my own beeswax polish for my wooden furniture, rather than use a silicone spray.

PigletJohn · 15/10/2019 12:32

Duraglit (though it's rebranded as Brasso now) for the door furniture

I like to have a Fray Bentos pie in the Emergency Stores cupboard

AngusThermopyle · 15/10/2019 12:35

I've used bar soap forever, i also love angel delight but stopped using that and an 'own brand' one due to palm oil. I use cloth handkerchiefs as i collected loads when i was very young and still have some wartime hand embroidered ones from my (now deceased) aunties.

teamthirteen · 15/10/2019 12:37

I’m buying bar soap now - no plastic waste.

keepingbees · 15/10/2019 12:37

I love those cod in sauce bags, but they are so tiny now they cook down to nothing Sad
I still buy angel delight, love it with jelly.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 15/10/2019 12:37

Another semolina fan here! For semolina pudding with jam, so yummy.

Also bars of soap instead of shower gel or hand-wash. And aniseed imperials which are hard to find these days! Never met anyone else who likes them. And liquorice and coltsfoot rock if I'm passing and old-fashioned sweet shop.

Wavyheaded · 15/10/2019 12:38

Brillo pads. No one I know seems to have heard of them.

YobaOljazUwaque · 15/10/2019 12:39

I think I am about the sixth person on the thread to mention bar soap so its not just me, but I want pink soap and the shops I go to only ever have white or occasionally green. I order in bulk online every 6 months.

Whoseagooddoggiethen · 15/10/2019 12:39

I still drink Ritz. Its not sold in many places where I am but when I see it I buy it. Also still buy and love Calvita 'cheese'!

Kazzyhoward · 15/10/2019 12:39

"Proper" light bulbs, not these new fangled low energy/LED thingies! But they're getting harder to find. Thank heavens for Ebay!

Kazzyhoward · 15/10/2019 12:39

Cartridges for ink pens?

Time40 · 15/10/2019 12:41

£10 a month mobile phone top up voucher

Me too, but mine lasts longer than a month.

Brasso. Bovril. Bar soap - although my heart was broken when Fairy green bar soap went out of production a few years ago. Just why? It was such perfect, useful stuff.

The old-fashioned thing I really want and I can't find is .... hang on, I'll start a new thread for it, so it gets more views ... it's a powder compact ..

SpinneyHill · 15/10/2019 12:41

My DS loves Wrights tar soap(?) he says it makes his skin less itchy(he gets mild eczema occasionally), I thought that was the cream he has put on every day but he says it's the soap

AuntieMarys · 15/10/2019 12:41

Butterscotch Angel delight.
Tinned semolina.
Tinned prunes to have in semolina

OldEvilOwl · 15/10/2019 12:44

Those boxes of mushy peas with a tablet for soaking them in first - love them!

userxx · 15/10/2019 12:44

@joyfullittlehippo In the last year I've gone back to bars of soap, the dove shower gel was drying my skin out and i wanted to try and reduce plastics. I love proper soap!

FurForksSake · 15/10/2019 12:49

Biotex stain remover.
