Reminded on the YouTube thread about an old TV programme I loved as a kid / preteen James The Cat! Got me all nostalgic thinking of others, does anyone remember these?! My faves:

Sea view - with a young Yvette Feilding about a girl who's mam and dad owned a B&B! I was so jealous of her!!
Johnny Briggs! - very relatable as very Northern!
Grange Hill - obvs!
Chocky - but it did scare the shit out of me!
Run around with Mike Reid!
Why don't you? - So desperate to be on it!
The Flumps - was too old but iirc it was on early afternoon so will have been off school sick!! Particularly loved the girl on skates!
Huxley Pig - again too old but loved the theme tune
Cockle shell bay - too cute!
Penny Crayon
Finger mouse - or was it bobs? - the man scared me slightly - v.v. Hairy!!

What were yours?

Good call on Jossy's Giants - was the team the Gipton Grasshoppers or similar?

G Force
Dogtanian
Take Hart
Knights if God

And if anyone here has any pull at Channel 4, it's waaay past time for 'Desmond's' to get a repeat run. The country's a mess, I need some Porkpie!

Anyone remember this drama, A Break In The Sun? Very powerful and ahead of its time - about a girl who doesn’t get on with her stepdad, and runs off with a group of travelling actors, ending up at Dreamworld in Margate, with her stepdad in pursuit. I loved it.
Not a fan of cartoons but I loved Grange Hill, Fame, Heidi, etc. Blue Peter was ok.
And Crackerjack on a Friday at 5pm.

After discovering a copy of the book A Break in The Sun in the library a couple of years ago, I emailed the author Bernard Ashley and told him how much I’d enjoyed it, both as a kid and as an adult, and received a lovely reply from him.

Thank you @MashedSpud. I have mentioned that programme, in space with alien grandparents that disguised themselves as (cheese?) plants (and made a funny jiggling chuckling noise?) and a "board" to cross to catch the bus home to Earth so many times and absolutely no-one has ever heard of it before. I can now rest easy. The Adventure Game www.google.co.uk/search?q=the+adventure+game&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#imgrc=64ljnHXZdvKKPM:

I love this so many happy memories!
I bought chocky on dvd for my kids but they got bored. It just looks so dated yet at the time so modern.

The Jetsons

converseandjeans · 06/09/2019 22:21

sewrainbow my Mum got a copy of the Secret Garden from the 70s free in the newspaper a while ago. We showed the kids & they love it. It's great memories but blimey it was awful quality of set!

Papergirl1968 · 06/09/2019 22:21

The Famous Five too.

Anasnake · 06/09/2019 22:23

We are the champions ! I so wanted my school to enter so we could all jump into the pool at the end - 'away you go' !

Kayjay2018 · 06/09/2019 22:23

Button moon (.even went so far as to buy a video of it in 2005 for my son to watch - very disturbing as you Gould see the hands wearing black gloves and that wasn't in my childhood memory)
Super gran - my Nan has a very similar tartan hat (but that's where the similarity ended)
Pigeon street (theme tune has a "ear worm" affect on me that I shared with my son when very young. Even now I only have to mimic the pigeon noise at the start of the theme tune to have him in stitches and saying no please stop (please note he is 15 and it's a running joke by now)
And late 80s I believe, a programme called Children's ward (I think they released some books too)
