Reminded on the YouTube thread about an old TV programme I loved as a kid / preteen James The Cat! Got me all nostalgic thinking of others, does anyone remember these?! My faves:

Sea view - with a young Yvette Feilding about a girl who's mam and dad owned a B&B! I was so jealous of her!!
Johnny Briggs! - very relatable as very Northern!
Grange Hill - obvs!
Chocky - but it did scare the shit out of me!
Run around with Mike Reid!
Why don't you? - So desperate to be on it!
The Flumps - was too old but iirc it was on early afternoon so will have been off school sick!! Particularly loved the girl on skates!
Huxley Pig - again too old but loved the theme tune
Cockle shell bay - too cute!
Penny Crayon
Finger mouse - or was it bobs? - the man scared me slightly - v.v. Hairy!!

What were yours?

@PrivateSpidey I’m glad someone else has mentioned Box of Delights. Whenever this topic comes up in discussion in real life no one ever remembers it. I remember it was on in the run up to Christmas and completely mesmerised me!

Loved so many already mentioned, my family circumstances meant I basically spent my childhood watching television 😬 So I get super nostalgic about some of these shows.

A little bit more out there now but I also loved RAMONA! Early morning Sunday, Channel 4 I think (or was that Transworld Sport?! 🤔)

Moon dial was my favourite. As an adult I got to take part in an 18th century re-enactment at Belton House where it was filmed. I had DS1 with me too and took a great photo of him and his friend in costume on the "moon dial". Swishing about that garden in a long dress and cloak was like living a childhood fantasy and I loved it.

Italianna · 06/09/2019 22:49

You are so right @Anasnake !!

Progress2019 · 06/09/2019 22:50

I loved Maggie. A Scottish girl who lived in a tower block and dreamed of going to University. Her dad and Uncle were plumbers. She had a posh boyfriend called James.

I have an omnibus of all the books, but would LOVE to watch it again

Aah, Moondial was epic!! The teatime drama for kids was fantastic...Cuckoo Sister, Children of Greene Knowe. My mum bought me the dvd and it is just as lovely and nostalgic. DS and I watched it at Christmas. Lovely.

Box of Delights was great...until the finale. Such a letdown. But YouTube the theme tune and I defy anyone not to be instantly transported back to 5:10pm in 1985!

Adventure Game was bonkers! Gronda, gronda..

But nothing will EVER surpass the brilliance of Robin of Sherwood. I kissed the Michael Praed poster by my bed every night. Grin
