Reminded on the YouTube thread about an old TV programme I loved as a kid / preteen James The Cat! Got me all nostalgic thinking of others, does anyone remember these?! My faves:

Sea view - with a young Yvette Feilding about a girl who's mam and dad owned a B&B! I was so jealous of her!!
Johnny Briggs! - very relatable as very Northern!
Grange Hill - obvs!
Chocky - but it did scare the shit out of me!
Run around with Mike Reid!
Why don't you? - So desperate to be on it!
The Flumps - was too old but iirc it was on early afternoon so will have been off school sick!! Particularly loved the girl on skates!
Huxley Pig - again too old but loved the theme tune
Cockle shell bay - too cute!
Penny Crayon
Finger mouse - or was it bobs? - the man scared me slightly - v.v. Hairy!!

What were yours?

@frankiesknuckle the show with Minty (short for Araminta) was Moondial, based on the book by Helen Cresswell. Both were fab.

I was going to mention moondial - it is available in full now on DVD (around three hours long), I purchased it recently, if I remember correctly it's the heavily edited version on YouTube. I don't know if they've is still available.

I was shocked to find the book is now classed as a children's classic having remembered it when it first came out.

I want to add "cities of gold" and the BBC versions of the chronicles of narnia!

TitchyP · 06/09/2019 20:36

Loads of the above, fistbump to the PP mentioning The Children of Green Knowe, fantastic programme and fantastic book as well.

My other favourites were Moonfleet and The Box of Delights, another two amazing books.

I've got the Box of Delights on dvd and usually watch it at Christmas - the special effects were amazing at the time, I remember thinking it was completely believable... and tbf even now it's pretty impressive considering what technology/budgets must have been like for 80s kids tv.

I've got the Jossy's Giants theme tune going round in my head now...
