I’ve grown all my pubic hair back and I love it!

Sorry I know this is a weird post, but I’m 31 and have a full bush for the first time since I was 14, and I need to talk about it.
I started shaving pretty much as soon as I had hair, I was sexually active at 14, and despite a lot of professed feminism I had clearly internalised something about a need to remove my public hair. I’ve been bare or maybe the odd strip ever since 14.

A couple of weeks ago I somehow flicked the telly over onto Naked Attraction (what the hell is that show?!) and noticed a whole line up of totally pubicly bald women, and had such a strong reaction. We’re adult women! We’re meant to have hair! What was I doing? So I’ve left it all to grow back and honestly it feels so good. It’s all soft and nice and I feel weirdly sexy, how did I never realise before?

All women should absolutely do what they want with their own bodies and their own hair, I’ve argued long and hard for why I shaved, so please don’t take this as a judgement, but as an adult woman with my natural hair for the first time ever, I’m feeling so liberated and just wanted to share!

there’s no better feeling than a freshly waxed arsehole

Grin I have to agree! I am a longtime devotee of hollywood waxes, and the feeling in the shower of a completely smooth bum area is addictive.

But each to their own blah blah.

I'm a second on the freshly waxed a hole. I started getting waxed but I like to leave something as I'm conflicted about the look of having nothing for some reason and find it a bit depressing when the waxer says she mainly gets students getting it all removed but each to their own aye.

realised my pool has underwater cameras and I had adjusted my swimming costume directly in front

That made me laugh 😀

redspider1 · 15/06/2019 11:10

It’s only itchy when growing back. Grown bushes are soft. Makes me laugh when young men and women sport nude pubic areas but full on beards. What’s that about?

redspider1 · 15/06/2019 11:11

Obviously the men have the beards but many women like the look in them but like them to sport the last chicken in the shop look down below.

The thread that keeps on giving!

Got to love a Red Dwarf quote!

Mishappening · 15/06/2019 11:23

Never have shaved. And never will. Any man that has a problem with it can quite frankly piss off. Indeed! Precisely!

PortiaCastis · 15/06/2019 11:34

Grin @ some of these posts, sorry but I just wouldn't feel comfortable with my arsehole being waxed as I wouldn't feel dignified but each to their own, oh goodness what a job being presented with arseholes all day but i spose as I'm in tourism I get them anyway.

IABUQueen · 15/06/2019 11:38

I don’t think it’s a feminist issue. For me it’s a hygiene issue.

Both I and my husband shave our Pubic hair

MsMarvellous · 15/06/2019 11:41

I have full pubic hair with an occasional shave of the top of the inner thigh for hols requiring a bikini. I don't shave my underarm hair either. I've never enjoyed it and did it because it was expected. I'd stop shaving my leg hair too except it's so straggly and horrible that I prefer to keep up With that.

KatherineJaneway · 15/06/2019 11:42

I dont think its actually always meant as a dig. I dont think people all realise what a culture shift has happened.

Actually on MN it is a dig. Any woman who posts asking for advice on pubic hair removal usually has one or more of these three posts on it:

  1. Does your boyfriend like pre-pubescent girls? or Why do you want to look like a pre-pubescent girl?
  2. You do realise pubic hair is there for a reason? (With an attitude like you are thick and that you don't know its function)
  3. You've been influenced by porn but you don't know it. (Again inference that you are thick and not self aware)

It's sad we cannot live and let live.

YesQueen · 15/06/2019 11:43

@IABUQueen why hygiene? If you shower then it's as clean

SherlockHolmesPipe · 15/06/2019 11:50

Life is way too short to worry about what your fanny and arsehole looks like. Stinky poo comes out of arseholes. Arseholes are as lovely as Donald Trump.😷

AuntieMarys · 15/06/2019 11:55

I like to think I give my beauty therapist total job satisfaction when I spread my legs for her every 6 weeks Grin
We have a lot of fun.

BuffaloCauliflower · 15/06/2019 11:55

@IABUQueen what’s the hygiene issue? I shower pretty much every day, it’s clean down there. What do you think hair does that prevents something being clean?

OP posts:
RomanyQueen · 15/06/2019 11:59

It's supposed to be there, otherwise it wouldn't be.
Just keep it clean and trimmed and lovely and soft.
A beard and pubes together are very soft.

fewerresourcesnopaperjams · 15/06/2019 12:00

This could be heresay and I don't have any links to where I read it, but pubic lice are supposed to be on the decline because of pube removal.

I'm doing s triangle ATM which is s bit thicker longer in the middle as it was a stripe a few months back.

I have one silver grey hair sticking out at the top

Of course some people did it, but some people also put the milk in before the tea and we don't say that's the usual state of things.

WHAT?????!!!!

Putting the milk in before the tea isn't the usual state of things?

This goes against everything I was always taught, and the following scientific explanation! (I have also heard that it became the habit so as not to risk cracking bone china cups with hot tea.)
If you add hot tea to cold milk the first drop of hot tea is reduced to the temperature of the milk. No problem.
but
if you add cold milk to hot tea, then the first drop of milk is heated to the temperature of the tea and this gives it an odd ("boiled milk") taste.

QuimReaper · 15/06/2019 16:01

Marianne why did they shave your pubic hair to take out your appendix?!

fairweathercyclist · 15/06/2019 16:19

I've never shaved there, didn't realise it was a thing until relatively recently. I just shave the edges to make sure it doesn't show around my swimsuit when I swim. Although I did have a thing like a razor but it wasn't and it thinned out the hair rather than shaving it, but they don't seem to do it anymore. Shaving it all over seems a recipe for some very nasty cuts in a very sensitive area!

I've always shaved my armpits as I dislike hair there.

ShowMeTheKittens · 15/06/2019 17:22

Oh. Good.
Stellar news.
Hmm

RCN1 · 15/06/2019 17:37

Been laughing at all this. My inherent laziness has clearly saved me from decades of stress and embarrassment and my bush might be the height of fashion now. Win, win .

Lovely13 · 15/06/2019 17:42

I’ve only ever done where it sprouts down on to upper thighs 😳 for swimming costume purposes. Now I’m old, pubes have all but disappeared, except for on my thighs! V annoying.
