I’ve grown all my pubic hair back and I love it!

Sorry I know this is a weird post, but I’m 31 and have a full bush for the first time since I was 14, and I need to talk about it.
I started shaving pretty much as soon as I had hair, I was sexually active at 14, and despite a lot of professed feminism I had clearly internalised something about a need to remove my public hair. I’ve been bare or maybe the odd strip ever since 14.

A couple of weeks ago I somehow flicked the telly over onto Naked Attraction (what the hell is that show?!) and noticed a whole line up of totally pubicly bald women, and had such a strong reaction. We’re adult women! We’re meant to have hair! What was I doing? So I’ve left it all to grow back and honestly it feels so good. It’s all soft and nice and I feel weirdly sexy, how did I never realise before?

All women should absolutely do what they want with their own bodies and their own hair, I’ve argued long and hard for why I shaved, so please don’t take this as a judgement, but as an adult woman with my natural hair for the first time ever, I’m feeling so liberated and just wanted to share!

Interesting, in the last 3-4 years I periodically waxed because h liked it and it was convenient for swimming etc. Buts he's stbexh and I'm facing the dating scene - in your late 40's is natural, all off or in between (not that I'm thinking of going that far yet, coffee is my limit!)

JacquesHammer · 14/06/2019 21:31

Doesn't like the little girl look

Well it only took until page one for one of these Grin

DuMondeB · 14/06/2019 21:32

The full bush is definitely making a come back. About time too!

Viva la Bush!

No nope and no way
Gives me a sweaty fluff if I keep my pubes

Craftycorvid · 14/06/2019 21:36

Congrats on making your private hair public at last, OP Grin.

disconnecteddrifter · 14/06/2019 21:40

Don't really understand the big deal. I shaved mine off twice now late 40s. Very itchy pretty much immediately so haven't done it more. Probably wouldn't be attracted to someone who had a problem with hair and I have a problem with shaving. Namely my hands down my pants for the next week

RomanyQueen · 14/06/2019 21:42

My dh prefers hair and also thinks men are weird who insist on no hair.
Can't help how they feel.
If a woman prefers it shaven that's different, but nobody should feel they have/need to remove hair.

Viva La Bush. Totally agree Grin

BuffaloCauliflower · 14/06/2019 21:43

I’ve been lucky that shaving has never been hugely problematic, minimal itching. I probably got it down to a fine art starting so young.

I shave it all off! I just remember my period blood clinging on my pubic hair when I was 14 and I wasn't allowed to have a bath when I was on my periods, so all week I had dry hard blood clinging on to my bush. Yuk

carla1983 · 14/06/2019 21:44

I think the bald look is very weird. It reminds me of my niece aged 5. I won't sleep with anyone who likes it bald and refuse to shave/wax because it seems a bit perverted to me?

I also tried shaving once when I was younger and Christ it was so itchy for about a week. The things women do in the name of grooming. Never again!

tuxedocatsintophats · 14/06/2019 21:44

I used a Phillips Lumea on mine and now never need to shave my undercarriage or bikini line, all zapped off. Bliss as it was all going very grey.

ChrisPrattsFace · 14/06/2019 21:45

I don’t have the full sha-bang but it’s there and trimmed neatly. Struggling with a baby bump now though so guess it will be full blown au natural before I know it!

Spanielmadness · 14/06/2019 21:46

I grew it all back for about 4 months - hated it and couldn’t wait to get rid. I prefer totally shaved but keep a strip for my partner who prefers hair. He loved the full bush!

Singlenotsingle · 14/06/2019 21:46

It never occurred to me to shave down there! The hair is there to protect your private little bits from infection, and isn't it a bit weird and creepy to want to look like a little girl?

newtlover · 14/06/2019 21:47

congrats, OP Grin
how long did it take to grow back completely?

JaneJeffer · 14/06/2019 21:49

in my 50 decades are you a vampire thenightsky?

manybirdsnests · 14/06/2019 21:49

Hear, hear - Viva la bush!
Cheers! Wine

Crunched · 14/06/2019 21:50

It'll fall out again when you get older
.Can anyone tell me what age this shedding happens?

Crunchymum · 14/06/2019 21:51

@Pornstarlips

Shock
pickingupaftereveryone · 14/06/2019 21:51

Saw the show a couple of weeks ago - jeez, you're a fast grower!

spugzbunny · 14/06/2019 21:51

I usually keep mine somewhere between trimmed to a grade 1 and full bush.

I'm 37 and waxing wasn't as popular when I met my now husband 17 years ago so he's not known any differently. I'm sure he'd like it shaved but it's uncomfortable and it's my body!

I think we'll see the resurgence of the full bush again in the next decade. Fashions always change.

KittenMittens1 · 14/06/2019 21:55

Whoever just said Viva la Bush 😂😂 just spat my drink out laughing

KnitterOfSocks · 14/06/2019 21:57

41 and never shaved. Always too lazy, and firmly of the mind that if a man gets down there and doesn't like it, it isn't me with the problem... never had any objections but I have been with DH for 19 years

blushmelikeyou · 14/06/2019 21:59

Think I'll stick to being smooth down there lol

MooBaaLaLaLa · 14/06/2019 22:02

I think totally bald looks creepy and pre-pubescent but I do like mine trimmed as I find it gets sweaty and uncomfortable if too long.
I use a beard trimmer.
