I’ve grown all my pubic hair back and I love it!

Sorry I know this is a weird post, but I’m 31 and have a full bush for the first time since I was 14, and I need to talk about it.
I started shaving pretty much as soon as I had hair, I was sexually active at 14, and despite a lot of professed feminism I had clearly internalised something about a need to remove my public hair. I’ve been bare or maybe the odd strip ever since 14.

A couple of weeks ago I somehow flicked the telly over onto Naked Attraction (what the hell is that show?!) and noticed a whole line up of totally pubicly bald women, and had such a strong reaction. We’re adult women! We’re meant to have hair! What was I doing? So I’ve left it all to grow back and honestly it feels so good. It’s all soft and nice and I feel weirdly sexy, how did I never realise before?

All women should absolutely do what they want with their own bodies and their own hair, I’ve argued long and hard for why I shaved, so please don’t take this as a judgement, but as an adult woman with my natural hair for the first time ever, I’m feeling so liberated and just wanted to share!

I’m thinking I’ll keep it reasonably trimmed rather than 100% natural, a bit of curating if you will. I’m ‘lucky’ to be not very hairy overall, so perhaps it needs less maintenance than the average. I do like the smooth of full removal but gosh it’s nice to just be as it comes.

@Crunched - ever since my DM told me that she hardly has any left, I’ve been looking upon lack of pubic hair as the one positive thing about growing older!

At nearly sixty I can report that mine is as luxuriant as ever. I fear that by the time it drops out I’ll be too old to care Sad

I'm another 40 year old who's never shaved. When exactly did it become a thing? I had to trim tonight to go for a swim and thought that was enough of a palaver.

Pokul · 14/06/2019 22:09

My bush is the only thing I maintain! I have bear fur like underarms and legs as I haven't shaved them for years. But I like my bush trimmed!

AnyFucker · 14/06/2019 22:10

Do you want a medal ?

ilovebeaversandicecream · 14/06/2019 22:16

Wtf lol. I thought that this was for parents who needed advice on life and kids. But good for you, you realy helped me in life with that info. lmao have a good night ;)

ANiceLuxury · 14/06/2019 22:16

I can barely feel anything sexually with a full bush.

When it’s bald I can feel everything!

It only itches until the skin gets used to being shaven

Chunkers · 14/06/2019 22:17

Who knew they could grow so long? Sooo looong

Bluebluered · 14/06/2019 22:19

@Bluebluered fab! Helpful contribution. You do know you can just not comment?

Yes I do, but someone needs to keep it real because this thread is obviously a perv’s wet dream. 🙄. Strangers on the net and all that.

Villageidiots · 14/06/2019 22:19

Never understood the pre-pubescent look and would be v concerned about an adult male who insisted on it.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 14/06/2019 22:23

I haven’t shaved for a while, quite frankly can’t be bothered. My legs on the other hand have to be done every 5 days as I literally wear shorts everyday 😊

justbeniceplease · 14/06/2019 22:24

I would be more concerned about an adult female who thought shaving body hair meant that. Fucking weird.

Titsywoo · 14/06/2019 22:25

I'd like to grow mine back but can't. I've had it waxed brazilian style for a few years and now it's sparse and looks shite if I try and grow it back.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 14/06/2019 22:26

Nothing wrong with how you feel about your hair OP, however you like it is fine but unfortunately, you've brought the 'little girl', 'pre-pubescent', ' 'reminds me of my niece' and other creepy posters onto the thread.

I don't care what anybody's husband thinks of removed hair/not removed hair either. None of his business what any woman does with her hair anywhere.

HappilyHarridan · 14/06/2019 22:26

Count yourself lucky, mine grew back grey, straggly and not v curly. Oh and patchy. Seems like my bush days are over for good.

FancyAPint · 14/06/2019 22:29

I like to keep mine nicely trimmed, tried bald - I looked like a plucked chicken or a 9yr old, neither was a good look. Anyway quickly felt like a spiky hedgehog within a few days of shaving.... Also some hair keeps any sweat away.

EvacuateTheCardinals · 14/06/2019 22:31

I'm mid 50's and I've only ever tidied mine up a bit, never shaved the whole lot. I like it and I've never had any complaints. As an aside to the 'public' hair thing, decades ago I was a medical secretary and had to type 'pubic hair' quite a lot. Often I would type pubic hari, so for me pubes are always called Hari!

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 14/06/2019 22:31

I think it would take a little more than hair removal to make a 40 something woman's fanny look pre-pubescent.

TheBouguets · 14/06/2019 22:31

The hospital where my first DC there was a policy of shaving every woman who came through the door. So I was duly shaved. To this day I still remember the chronic itch as my pubic hair grew. I was trying to walk around with the baby in a (posh) pram and not have a good scratch.

I would never voluntarily set myself up to repeat that horror!

Wonderbread · 14/06/2019 22:35

Women didn’t really get rid of pubic hair until the advent of internet porn. Hence a lot of women 40 and over still have hair.

Allhailthesun · 14/06/2019 22:37

All off looks hideous. Like a plucked chicken.

There was a ( feminist)poster in style and beauty that said she could never be bothered with legs and armpits because that was purely about pleasing other people whilst Brazilians were for her.
Totally agree.
As a super hairy girl it’s very much easier not to have hair there. Shaved armpits means less deodorant. But leg hair effects ease of life not one iota.

prettyinpink23x · 14/06/2019 22:38

I don't know why having it shaved reminds people of 'pre pubescent' young girls that's a bit odd. The way I see it is I prefer my boyfriend to be shaved and therefore I shave too. Its a mutual thing. Doesn't have to be a sign that you're not in touch with feminism or that you idolise pornstars.

Faster · 14/06/2019 22:39

I’ve got a full bush. Mainly cos I don’t give a fuck. And dp appreciates that I’ll do whatever I bloody well like with my own body. As he can his.

It never occurred to me to shave down there!

me neither. I was shaved in hospital when I had an appendectomy in my eary 20s and it itched horribly when it grew back.
Then a few years ago my husband started suggesting that I might like to shave down there... no thanks!... and then I discovered thanks to MN that young people of today think shaven is the norm. I have never forgotten the MNer who told us that when she was in hospital a young trainee doctor suggested to the professor leading the examination that her full bush was an indication of a lack of self care and a possible indicator of mental illness!!!! Fortunately the prof put the junior right on that, but imagine a health professional drawing that kind of conclusion. Shock
