Face hair. In tears and pic included

I'm sick of shaving

I'm sick of being 28 years old and having to shave twice a day

I'm aching. I have to wear inches of makeup to cover my stubble

I'm all bumpy and rashy, and disgusting

Can someone please just recommend the best Philips Lumea? Will it work? I'm confused at the entire range and my head is sore from trying to work out which will be the strongest for my mess of a face, neck, chin and sideburns

Thank you SadBlush

@FuckSakeFuckOffFelicia hello don't worry honestly it can be fixed
Mine was a lot worse right from checks chin to neck
I then had laser removal and now I don't have to wear as much make up 90 percent had completely gone
I go every 6-8 weeks for a top up

Slurpy · 11/04/2019 17:54

Lumea, seriously. I've been lazy with the rest of my body, but it has saved my face. I think the models are much of a muchness. I bet you have PCOS. I have and didn't struggle to conceive, luckily. Total postcode lottery though. Was taken seriously when I lived in the SE, back in Wales, nothing.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 11/04/2019 18:34

I've got the app on my phone to remind me when it's due.

My replacement lumea (after returning the faulty one) has already been dispatched so hopefully it'll arrive before my 2nd treatment is due. I'm also slightly concerned that it conked out halfway up the first leg so that'll probably be the only place it works and I'll just have a hairless stripe up one shin forever more Grin

Havent read the whole thread but i suffer from facial hair that I have to pluck daily. Mine is to a lesser degree and I was given vaniqua so i would defiantly push for that. You can also take a contraptive pill which is best for hair growth and has sprionlactone to slow it

kazzymac · 11/04/2019 18:48

Thanks for updating op. I'm so glad people are finding the lumea works for them and also that people are posting support. It can feel like you're the only person in the world suffering sometimes Sad
All I would say is please remember to put spf on especially your face. I definitely noticed areas of darker pigmentation when I was on holiday. To be honest it's easier to cover up then the hair but thought I'd mention it!

LizzieMacQueen · 11/04/2019 19:15

Mumsnet at it's finest.

💐 to you OP and the 2 MNetters who sent you stuff.

polloppllo · 11/04/2019 19:30

You need laser hair removal. Your hair is perfect for a great result.

I'm having it at the moment and even after first treatment my hair has drastically reduced.

Check out Skin clinics. They are nationwide and offer payment plans as it can be expensive but it's permanent!!!! Good luck!

Surfskatefamily · 11/04/2019 20:01

Search for hair no more. Its low level laser and is fairly cheap per session. Im having my upper lip done 6 to 8 sessions of £20 each. Think chin is about 30quid a go

Its available at lots of salons and price is the same everywhere

FlugIsAFlaskAndAMug · 11/04/2019 21:06

Thank you

I have struggled with this since I was about 13

It's certainly got worse in this last year or so 🤷🏽‍♀️ but I'm feeling very positive about the Lumea and the Vaniqa

Those two MNers who sent me the items - I truly wish I could send them flowers

FlugIsAFlaskAndAMug · 18/04/2019 11:55

Hello everyone 👋🏼

My blood tests have came back with dodgy levels

I've been referred to a gynaecologist

I have hair reduction - the combination of Vaniqa and the amazing Lumea is changing my entire life

I'm eating the Keto way (which is torturous) but I'm down to 9st 13 🙂

This thread has changed my life 😘

shedid · 18/04/2019 12:00

Go for the lumea, it's been a miracle for me.

Vaniqua was awful- stopped the hair growth a bit but my face was covered in painful acne and it bleached all my pillow cases.

FlugIsAFlaskAndAMug · 18/04/2019 12:09

@shedid I'm doing both - no bad reaction to the Vaniqa yet 🤞🏼

shedid · 18/04/2019 13:43

That's great!

The spearmint tea really helps too

shedid · 18/04/2019 13:44

Ah @FlugIsAFlaskAndAMug you're the op 😂
Note to self: RTFT

FlugIsAFlaskAndAMug · 18/04/2019 13:46

Oh sorry

I keep forgetting I name changed 🙈

Figmentofimagination · 22/04/2019 21:45

I started reading this thread a few days ago and just caught up now. It's really making me consider buying a lumea for my facial hair.
Ever since I came off the pill 6 years ago my slightly dark hair on my cheeks and the odd chin hair, that I bleached along with my top lip, grew really quickly and spread under my chin and down my neck. I currently get my face waxed every 2 months and pluck every day but it's so frustrating. And when I'm due to have it waxed I have to leave it to grow for about two weeks.
I'm in the 2 week timeframe now, so when I'm at work tomorrow in this gorgeous weather I will be wearing a thin scarf to hide the hairs under my chin as they are so thick and wirey and noticeable. I hate it.

TemporaryPermanent · 22/04/2019 22:09

Thanks for this thread Flug as it's reminded me to do my Lumea treatment.

Another PCOS person here who used to have to shave my face twice a day, whereas after a year of very easy Lumea treatment I can easily keep on top of my face with plucking and I do my legs about once a month. Only problem is it's so good I forget, and you do have to keep going.

Fluggers · 22/04/2019 22:24

Hi 👋🏼 it's Flug here with a name change

I've already noticed a considerable improvement with my Lumea and Vaniqa combination

I'll try to get MN HQ to move this over to somewhere permanent so it doesn't go whoosh within the 30 day frame

Fluggers · 22/04/2019 22:25

@Figmentofimagination the Lumea the lovely MNer posted to me is a Comfort - a fairly basic model but my goodness! A wonderful device

QueenBeex · 22/04/2019 22:42

Such a kind thread. Loc it!

QueenBeex · 22/04/2019 22:43

love not loc ffs Blush

DakotaFanny · 22/04/2019 22:48

I’m so glad things have worked out so well so far Fluggers!

Can I ask about Lumea on lighter hair? I have dark blonde/ mousy brown hair (although my random facial hairs tend to be darker!). Would it work for me?

Thanks

Fluggers · 23/04/2019 11:10

I haven't shaved this since 08:00 yesterday morning

Already a MASSIVE improvement

I'd normally have to shave at 08:00 and tbh if I was going out that evening, then 17:00..if not, then about 21:00

Jamct23 · 23/04/2019 11:11

Hi mines very similar but jawline lumea works great for me! X

Fluggers · 23/04/2019 11:12

@DakotaFanny there's a setting for every combination of skin/hair

Can you try to get Vaniqa on prescription? I'd recommend a second hand Lumea from eBay if you can, just give it a good wipe with an antibacterial wipe beforehand 🙈

As I said, mine was sent to me by a lovely MNer and my goodness - I reckon another month and I'll be down to occasional use
