Face hair. In tears and pic included

I'm sick of shaving

I'm sick of being 28 years old and having to shave twice a day

I'm aching. I have to wear inches of makeup to cover my stubble

I'm all bumpy and rashy, and disgusting

Can someone please just recommend the best Philips Lumea? Will it work? I'm confused at the entire range and my head is sore from trying to work out which will be the strongest for my mess of a face, neck, chin and sideburns

Thank you SadBlush

Another one saying to identify as a man who is identifying as a woman - that should do the trick.

Seriously your GP was a dick, there is obviously something wrong. Go back or see someone else as you need to identify and treat the root cause not faffle around with hair removal.

Having said that I have extremely hairy legs. My arms are also hairy for a woman. No hair on the face though. When I used to have my legs waxed I would need to go weekly as I had 3 sets of hair at different stages so take the first lot off and by the next week the second lot would have come through and be if waxable length and same for the following week with the third lot of growth. Then the fourth week the first lot would have grown back and need to be taken off. Repeat forever. I couldn’t be bothered in the end, didn’t have the time. Tried electrolysis and my hair was resistant. Saw several beauticians but all said the same thing, just the type of hair. One even gave an official ‘diagnosis’ of Irish bog hair, no idea if that’s even a thingShock. So now I just have permanent hairy legs that would rival a bear. I shave my arms with a beard trimmer monthly, that does the trick.

Oh OP how could your GP be so blinkered, this is affecting your life and your mental health!

I'm probably not allowed to suggest this, but how about setting up a crowd funding page - this thread has 277 messages, if we all chipped in £1 each to help you towards the cost - we'd want updates of course!!

I know, I know about offering money to strangers on the internet but your post has really touched me, I suffer from hyperhydrosis and it really affects my life - GP told me to get botox privately... erm yeah okay then... with all my spare ££££'s pfft...

Fluggers · 02/05/2019 13:18

Hi @cheesemongery

Thanks for your kind message

My GP has me referred on to the hospital and I'm making progress with the Lumea and Vaniqa

I was more than prepared to pay the money for laser but certainly as a last attempt - Therapie here in NI quoted me big money and couldn't make any guarantees

Off on holiday on Sunday and my confidence has improved immeasurably already 🙂

Oh wow! Good for you! I'm so pleased, have a lovely holiday - I tend to prefer mine in Norway due to the sweating haha Grin

Oh gosh this thread is moving me to tears.
I have been plucking my chin hair for about 18 years. It's got worse and worse and because i used to dig them out and pick pick pick my chin is scarred, spotty and scabby.
I had cbt for my compulsive picking a year or so ago, and am now having electrolysis which is doing wonders. The hairs are finer and lighter but still dark and prickly.

Would the lumea work alongside the electrolysis? What model should I get? I have electrolysis every 2 weeks, no longer pull at my hairs but really really struggle in between appointments. I can't have laser ir ipl in a climic because i cannot go longer than 2 weeks without pulling.
A hairy chin and trichotillomania does not combine as well as you would think...
My hair isn't as bad as the OPs, far milder, but i hate it.
The compassion and help in this thread is amazing.

Figmentofimagination · 04/05/2019 10:44

Ok, so as I said I waxed my face on Tuesday and used my lumea on Thursday night. This morning I've only had to pluck a few hairs from my cheeks, and some more from the corners of the chin (they always grow fast there so I usually pluck them every day). Not sure how much of that is the lumea or the waxing. If I've only have a few a day grow back on my cheeks and under my chin over the next week then the lumea has definitely helped. I'll let you know how I get on fluggers.

Pigeonpies · 15/05/2019 13:28

@Teddybear45

I have PCOS and the lumea works for me, really well

It kills the root of the hair follicle so it either doesn't grown back or is weakened

I have patches of absolutely clear and soft skin where hair once grew

Ledkr · 15/05/2019 13:48

It makes me so angry that GPS don't take this issue seriously. I know people who have had breast lifts etc on NHS. This must be far more distressing.
My lovely Dil has this so I know how awful it can be.
Find a gp who is more sympathetic.demand a referral to a dermatologist and then pay to see him privately to jump the queue if you can.

Fluggers · 16/05/2019 12:17

Hi everyone

I'm still going well

I'm makeup free to work today 🙂

I cannot believe the transformation of my face, in such a short space of time

I actually think the Lumea has done most of the work - the doctor said it would take a while for the Vaniqa to properly kick in

SallyGardens · 16/05/2019 12:32

OP, if you're in NI would you consider self-referring and paying to see an endocrinologist privately in Dublin?

MoreSlidingDoors · 16/05/2019 12:37

Ok, so as I said I waxed my face on Tuesday and used my lumea on Thursday night.

I’ve had most of my body lasered. The laser/lumea works on hair. Waxing removes the hair. So lumea won’t have an effect on waxed skin.

I had to shave 48 hours before each appt so that the hair was the right length to be zapped.

SallyGardens · 16/05/2019 12:39

Gah, I didn't notice the OP name change either. Glad it's working out for you.

Figmentofimagination · 16/05/2019 18:41

That's brilliant fluggers!
I have noticed a slight improvement in how much I am plucking on my face. Due my next lumea treatment today/ tomorrow.
Have noticed a massive improvement on my legs after just 1 treatment.

Noloudnoises · 28/12/2019 22:12

Hi @Fluggers just wondered how you were getting on? My lasering works a treat but grows back each time (6 weeks) so I’m cross. Thinking of getting a Lumea....
