I'm sick of shaving

I'm sick of being 28 years old and having to shave twice a day

I'm aching. I have to wear inches of makeup to cover my stubble

I'm all bumpy and rashy, and disgusting

Can someone please just recommend the best Philips Lumea? Will it work? I'm confused at the entire range and my head is sore from trying to work out which will be the strongest for my mess of a face, neck, chin and sideburns

Thank you SadBlush

How can I flag this to MN HQ so it's around to be helpful for other sufferers?

This thread has shown me kindness and compassion that I never realised was possible ❤️

QueenBeex · 23/04/2019 13:53

Report the thread, you get to write a comment to hq when you send a report I believe, put in the comment it's your thread and you'll like it around permanently.

My sister also has PCOS and she would marry her Lumea at the age of 55 she is finally beard free. I hope you have the same experience.

What a lovely update (I’ve also NCd since you started the thread). You sound well on the way to getting anything hormonal diagnosed and managed and the excess hair gone. Seeing an improvement in such a short time must feel so good. This thread shows just how common a problem It is and how utterly miserable and confidence draining it can be. I hope you’ll keep updating and keep seeing more and more progress 👍🏻.

Figmentofimagination · 23/04/2019 22:04

That's such an improvement flug!

Figmentofimagination · 27/04/2019 20:48

I've found the BRI863 essential model in boots for £140. I would love the prestige model but I can't afford the really high price tag.
Has anyone used the essential?

Fluggers the difference between your first photo and your latest is astonishing! I am so pleased for you.

This thread is another example of Mumsnet at its best.

Rumbletum2 · 27/04/2019 21:45

So happy for you Fluggers 😁

Isit7yet · 27/04/2019 22:01

OP I could have written this post last year. I had to shave twice a day. Same pattern by the looks of your pic. I thought I covered it well at work untill a patient pointed it out. I was heartbroken. Went to the gp to ask for help. He referred me to dermatology for laser but funding had been cut so sent me away with a cream that I actually couldn't use as I was ttc. I have ended up funding my own treatment - electrolysis which is the only proven method to permanently remove hair. I won't lie , it's expensive and really painful at times. But I feel like I have my life back. I go for two hours a week at the cost of £112 and my therapist has estimated I will need around 100 hours of treatment. The results four months in are fantastic. My life has literally changed

MissGruffalo · 27/04/2019 22:06

That’s amazing OP! So happy for you! Grin

I’ve just started using my Lumea. Only on legs (which is fine) and underarms (smarts abit)

I’m eager to use it on my face but worried about any pain... does it hurt? What setting do you use?

Fluggers · 27/04/2019 22:37

@Figmentofimagination the one I've been using is a very basic Comfort one - I don't think it's available anymore

Go for the cheap option

Oh and no..I don't find it sore at all 🙈

Fluggers · 27/04/2019 22:40

Can someone report this and ask MN HQ to put it somewhere so it can stay and be useful? 😘

MissGruffalo · 27/04/2019 22:45

It’s already in Chat OP. Posts here don’t get deleted anymore

jewel1968 · 27/04/2019 22:52

Can you use lumea if you also have acne/spots?

Figmentofimagination · 28/04/2019 15:14

I've done it @Fluggers! I've order the essential one!
Should be arriving by Wednesday which is good as I'm getting my face waxed on Tuesday.
Your thread has inspired me to take the jump and order it. 🤞🏻fingers crossed it works for me.

Fluggers · 28/04/2019 15:19

@Figmentofimagination That's the one I got Smile I think the only difference is lack of attachments and it's a slightly smaller head (so it takes longer to do big areas).

I'm only a couple of weeks in so I haven't really noticed a difference yet.

Brilliant improvement on the pics Flugs gives me hope Flowers

Figmentofimagination · 28/04/2019 16:31

That's a brilliant improvement fluggers!

I'll be brave and share my before waxing photo. I've got more facial hair than my husband atm since I can't pluck it before my waxing appointment. Tuesday can't come quick enough. I hate covering up with scarves.

unicornsrule · 28/04/2019 17:16

Amazon phillips lumia

£214 reduced from £385
For body and face

Phillips lumia with leg and face attatchment

£388 reduced from £520

Hope you buy one

Chocolatepeanuts · 28/04/2019 23:19

Flug that is truly amazing im just delighted for you! @figmentofimagination i really gope it works for you too, however if you are purchasing the lumea soon I would give your waxing a miss and shave. I could be wrong but if the lumea works like laser/ipl it works down to the root of your hsir which is removed when waxing so would be pointless treating for a few weeks. I was advised not to start treatment until 6 weeks post waxing, but could shave in the meantime. Hopefully someone will come along and confirm that or correct me. All the best x

Figmentofimagination · 30/04/2019 20:48

It's arrived! Will do my skin test tomorrow evening and properly use it on Thursday.

Fluggers · 01/05/2019 14:19

Good luck @Figmentofimagination

I'm excited for you - can you come back and update please 🙂

BowiesJumper · 01/05/2019 14:55

Fluggers - how many treatments have you done so far? I've got similar issues and have done 2 treatments (2 weeks apart), no massive difference as yet...

sparkle789 · 01/05/2019 14:57

I have a lumea only used it on my legs but it works really well. I’ve had it a couple of years so it’s an older model but well worth the money.
