Weird things your body does...

So I didn’t think this was weird, but apparently it is. This morning I got out the shower, walked into the bedroom and went to put socks on. As I did so, my little toenail was loose. As in, the whole thing. So I just pulled it off. And there’s a whole new fresh one grown underneath. I’ve had no trauma on the nail, it just happens randomly and fairly regularly; about once every few months or so.

I became aware that DH was looking at me, horrified. He assured me that toenails dropping off to reveal fresh new ones underneath is absolutely not a normal thing, and recommended I sell my body to science Grin

What weird thing does your body do?

How weird!! When I was little I used to get a thing where sounds sounded “wrong” - I can remember trying to describe it to my mum and all I kept saying was “slow” - and from reading about Alice in Wonderland Syndrome it would appear there’s an auditory version!

@Idratherhaveacupoftea** mine only just started this year. I had bloods taken earlier this week to try and find out what's going on. Mine also goes into weals if I don't take antihistamines. Does anything affect yours?

I have synesthesia too. I didn't even know it was a thing until my sister told me she also does it and other people don't have a clue what I'm on about. Just thought I was something everyone does

bringincrazyback · 13/02/2019 09:37

If I think about fleas, no matter how fleetingly, I start to itch.

I'm also pretty sure I have a degree of synaesthesia.

If I eat anything carby in a morning, I.e toast, rice cakes, the roof of my mouth gets incredibly tight and is only relieved if I down lots of water. No one understands what I mean by this, does ANYONE else get it!? I've tried to google it and nothing comes up!

legalseagull · 13/02/2019 10:18

@Diamond1703 omg me too!!!! I thought I was the only one with intensely thirsty nipples! Honestly if anyone touches them I'm gasping for a drink Grin

Shufflebumnessie · 13/02/2019 10:24

I can bend my shoulders/arms/wrists in a way that I can put my palms flat on my stomach with fingers pointing upwards and bring my elbows together in front of me. Never met anyone else who can do it Grin

I have no 'minds eye'. I see nothing at all when (for example) told to imagine a sandy beach with waves crashing etc etc. It means nothing.
I read really fast.. But can re read the same book 100 as I've not remembered a thing. Same with films. Each time is almost like the first.
My ribs get stuck under each other (well, that's how it feels) when I proper belly laugh. DD is the same. We have to stretch up to the ceiling to 'untangle' them.
I can make my ears click on the inside. DH can hear me do it which freaks him out!
Other people being in pain makes me curl up and hide my eyes. I get a stabby fanny with it.
Speaking of vomiting is sometimes enough to make myself gag and 🤮. I can't watch someone eat a banana without gagging.
I get the one runny eye thing too. So annoying.
Numb patch on neck, convinced it's connected to migraines?
God, I'm an odd ball 😂

Re javelin arse. Poster upthread said that it is proctocis. It is certainly is not. Proctocis is inflammation of the lining of the rectum, usually involving a sti.
Javelin arse is a muscle spasm or cramp. It goes away of its own accord. I think that it only affects women.

ElizabethMainwaring · 08/02/2020 17:36

Bloody hell. I've killed the thread...

ElizabethMainwaring · 08/02/2020 17:40

@brainstormer123
Yes I've definitely had that. didn't realise it was to do with carbs. Usually when I've not eaten for a while. It is a horrible sensation.
