Weird things your body does...

So I didn’t think this was weird, but apparently it is. This morning I got out the shower, walked into the bedroom and went to put socks on. As I did so, my little toenail was loose. As in, the whole thing. So I just pulled it off. And there’s a whole new fresh one grown underneath. I’ve had no trauma on the nail, it just happens randomly and fairly regularly; about once every few months or so.

I became aware that DH was looking at me, horrified. He assured me that toenails dropping off to reveal fresh new ones underneath is absolutely not a normal thing, and recommended I sell my body to science Grin

What weird thing does your body do?

I'm a bit sensitive to noise/music. A sudden burst makes me see a flash of colours in front of my eyes.

whiterose wow! Does the colour/intensity vary with the noise type?

If someone is hammering near me, I can feel the pressure waves and it makes me wince (noticeably) every time.

I hate ASMR, it makes me want to scream!

When I'm really sad I get a pain in my hands, more so the left one.

The anticipation of pain, gives me pains in the back of my thighs - it happened everytime my newborn DS latched for the first month or so.
I also get it if I see my DC hurt themselves.

I get sore shoulders when I drink alcohol, even one or two. I don’t drink very much!

Also i love ASMR!! I watch a YouTuber who regularly does makeup declutters, she speeds up the part when she takes all the makeup out and it sounds fab, super relaxing.

I came on to say ASMR, use it to get to sleep most nights!

This one is hard to explain but if someone else gets it I'm sure they'll know what I mean. I get 'white noise' in my feet if I don't move them for a while. It's not pins and needles, or any kind of pain, it literally feels exactly like white noise on an untuned tv sounds, just fuzzy and occasionally (if I haven't moved for ages) almost as if my foot is vibrating very slightly. I've yet to find someone who hasn't looked at me as if I'm insane when I try to explain it!

I have synaesthesia so I can 'see' numbers, days, weeks, months, years, and the alphabet in order. And they all have colours

@tallulah can you explain a bit more? I think I might do this!

I don’t have things in colour but if I’m thinking about a day I can “see” it on a line in my mind, it’s always in the same place too. Same with the alphabet, phone numbers etc...

I need to google this!

My jaw clicks when I eat or yawn, ever since I had major spinal surgery a year ago. I think they must have damaged it with the tubes or something, I'm going to talk to the dentist next week about it.

And also to do with the surgery... my left shoulder blade gets tingly sometimes, it's like an electric current is being passed through it. I also get it in the tips of my fingers sometimes.

When I see, hear or think of anything painful, I get cold shivers down the back of my calves and have to sit down.

I would have made a terrible nurse or doctor!

I haven't rtft but op my little toenails are the same. My husband thinks I'm a freak!! If I do ever need to cut them I just cut them off as well lol. They're not really attached firmly apart from at the cuticle. Maybe it's a mutation lol

I get a weird physical sensation, almost like a panicky feeling and I worrry I’ve been poisoned when I need to poo Confused

If I see someone walking barefoot on an uneven surface I get a really horrible visceral crawling in my guts, even if it's just a picture/video.

If I get frightened ( like at a roundabout, or seeing my dc jump off a high wall). I feel fear like little knives shooting out of me.

If I laugh too much I can’t use my hands either.

@AfterSchoolWorry just googled AMSR, didn't know there was a name for the tingles!
