Weird things your body does...

So I didn’t think this was weird, but apparently it is. This morning I got out the shower, walked into the bedroom and went to put socks on. As I did so, my little toenail was loose. As in, the whole thing. So I just pulled it off. And there’s a whole new fresh one grown underneath. I’ve had no trauma on the nail, it just happens randomly and fairly regularly; about once every few months or so.

I became aware that DH was looking at me, horrified. He assured me that toenails dropping off to reveal fresh new ones underneath is absolutely not a normal thing, and recommended I sell my body to science Grin

What weird thing does your body do?

April241, I too, see the days of the week in a line. Also the months of the year in a sort of oval, always in the same place. I have done this for as long as I can remember. It's interesting to know that other people do this.

thenightsky · 01/10/2018 21:56

Sometimes when I'm asleep and dreaming I get woken up sharply by a massive loud bang outside. Like a big metal barn door slamming. No one else ever hears it, so I can only assume its something going off in my head.

Also I only sweat under my left armpit, never my right.

I also get very thirsty if my nipples are touched. Breastfeeding was a nightmare - I had to have at least one full pint glass of water beside me.

If I get sleep deprived (think 2 or 3 nights in a row of DH snoring), I sleep walk and act out my dreams.

thedishonthecoffeetable · 01/10/2018 22:28

My feet vibrate and I get fizzy legs I just thought it was me getting old 😂

MrsAlanPartridge · 01/10/2018 22:44

Yes, I see the days and months in the same way @ozyman does.
Also I always feel nauseous before I sneeze. And I never sneeze just the once. Also my eyes water just from smiling. Laughing is like I'm weeping, even just a giggle. Makes wearing mascara pointless.
Can also hear high pitch electrical noises and bats Grin

Livedandlearned2 · 05/10/2018 17:34

Dragonlight I hear electricity too, like if the tv is on but the sound off, I'd know without looking.

theluckiest · 05/10/2018 18:06

Another weird thing - during my pregnancies, my leg hair stopped growing. Like, completely. All my other hairs carried on (particularly pubes - Christ, they went haywire) but legs, nada.

I only know this as I didn't shave them for 9 months as I didn't need to. Weird.

Torvi · 05/10/2018 20:20

I have what I think is dermatographia. Slight pressure on my skin leaves a mark for around 30 mins. I did this by running my fingernail over my skin with slight pressure.

If I'm coming down with a bug or an illness my entire skin, over all my body, is sore to touch before I have any other symptoms. My Mum has the same thing.

It doesn't happen early enough that I can do anything about it to head it off, it's usually just the night before.

Needanothercat · 05/10/2018 21:27

Love this! I wish I was as weird as some of you!
My right thumb twitches for no particular reason all the time.
If I'm picking at a spot on my leg for example, I get a sharp needle like pain on my back somewhere. It's like it's connected.
Sometimes the top of my thighs feel like the skin is hyper sensitive. Even clothes on them is uncomfortable and I can't bear to touch them.
I have Catathrenia which is a type of sleep apnea but I hold my breath on the way out resulting in weird groans and strange noises coming out if me when I let go of my breath.
I get a weird, horrible sharp pain in my jaw where the bones connect, almost in my ear, when I eat or drink something sweet or sharp e.g. strawberry and lime cider! It actually hurts quite bad so I do avoid a lot of things.

puppymouse · 05/10/2018 21:34

This isn't that uncommon I think as I went to GP about it ages ago.

But I sometimes get crippling pain when i orgasm. It comes from deep in my arse and the only thing I can do to relieve it is sit on the toilet until it subsides?! I see stars and have blacked out it's been so bad on occasion. Doctor said it's a form of cramp. Sad

LittleMissFrumpy · 05/10/2018 21:39

If I have trapped wind my shoulder hurts.

Also my eyes/vision kind of shakes if I get stressed or anxious.

TheSheepofWallSt · 05/10/2018 21:40

@anitagreen
I have pure O OCD too- triggered quite badly when I had DS two years ago. Presently going through a bad patch again - it comes in cycles and seems to resolve once underlying stress or anxiety is removed. I’m in psychotherapy and “manage” quite well 10 months out of 12.

Since I stopped breastfeeding 3 months ago, I’ve had “buzzy fanny”- not arousal- although it’s not dissimilar. More like the tingles other people have talked about, with a feeling of pressure and “weightiness”- can only think it’s hormonal and will resolve as hormones settle. Unfortunately it’s made worse by anxiety (which is high at the moment).

My heart murmur and my lazy eye - both congenital and both absolutely documented and real from ages 1- 6.... both spontaneously resolved by the time I was 12.

Bookridden · 05/10/2018 21:41

If I cry, it makes me need a wee.

Bluelonerose · 05/10/2018 21:47

I sometimes get the feeling that my lung gets trapped between my ribs. Feels really weird like I need to push it back.

GimmeBread · 05/10/2018 21:58

When I drink my lower arms go dead.

Jelly legs when I'm squeamish!

GimmeBread · 05/10/2018 22:01

I get this too @AlpacaPicnic! But I feel it in my mouth..... it's so hard to explain!

DoILookArsed · 05/10/2018 22:12

Sometimes my throat makes random gurgling noises

GimmeBread · 05/10/2018 22:13

I see the days of the week in an oval with Monday at the top left, Friday at the bottom, Saturday and Sunday on the right. It's how I work out what date Monday is!

Hepzibahr · 05/10/2018 22:13

I get depressed for a few days before I come down with an illness.

I sweat when I'm cold.

I also have the two nails on little toe thing.

Hepzibahr · 05/10/2018 22:18

@Jenb2104 When I cough really hard my chin really itches!

I get this as well. I'm asthmatic and my inhaler relieves the symptom.

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 05/10/2018 22:31

Torvi I have that as well, I've had it since I was a child, mine goes into weals as well. Doctors used to draw on me to show students.Hmm

JovialNickname · 05/10/2018 22:47

If I know I'm going to have sex whilst I'm on my period, my period stops for about half an hour either side of intercourse taking place. It doesn't happen if it's spontaneous. I have a heavy flow and use super / super plus tampons so it's really weird!

BlueUggs · 05/10/2018 22:56

The person who said they get sudden pain in their hip and it won't support them - I had this and ended up having a hip replacement at 36.
Javelin arse - yep.
I've got a tickle patch just by my right hip on my abdomen and it makes me twitch if it's touched. It's horrible!
The sun and plucking my eyebrows makes me sneeze.
My period stops and starts. I seem to have a 12-24 hour break.

WordWeasel · 05/10/2018 23:24

If I eat a sandwich too quickly, one of my eyeballs hurts. Seriously. Weird, but it's been true all my life.

NewYoiker · 05/10/2018 23:52

If I hear a nice song that gives me goosebumps, my nipples go hard 😳Blush
