Feeling nosey! I was on another thread where the OP had £600 to spend on an engagement ring and the first comment was how it was a lot of money and was she sure she wanted to spend that much.

We’ve been married nearly 31 years. I never had an engagement ring, as we didn’t get engaged, we just kind of fell into it Grin. For our 30th anniversary I got a Boodles ring, it was £10,200.

Eminybob · 25/09/2018 07:18

Mine was about a grand. Very different to what I was looking for (I wanted a solitaire but ended up with a cluster) and also very much “of its time” (about 8 years ago) but I still love it very much.

£60.

A lot. Too much. It was just over 2 carats.

Then we had to sell it when we were almost made bankrupt a couple of years ago which was heartbreaking but necessary at the time. Now I don't wear a wedding band or engagement ring and I'm absolutely fine with it but it's on the list when we're back on our feet financially!

MrsG841 · 25/09/2018 07:21

My husband wanted me to have his grans ring (it's passed through the family) the diamond was set in a very high very old fashioned setting so we had it re set on a new band. This cost a few hundred at the time. The jeweller valued it at the time at around £10,000. Safe to say I've insured it

SaffyLoo · 25/09/2018 07:23

I would have loved a family ring but Dh didnt know what happened to either of his grandmothers rings Sad my ring was around 2000£ bought 10 years ago

Waitingonasmiley42 · 25/09/2018 07:24

£700 engagement and £350 wedding! I don’t bother wearing them most days or any jewellery really.

CuppaSarah · 25/09/2018 07:25

£20 off eBay. It's worth a couple hundred so it was a massive bargain. I didn't want something too valuable, I'm rubbish at looking after jewelry. I was more interested in the setting, which is perfect.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 25/09/2018 07:28

I never asked! I think it's incredibly rude to ask your DH how much it was. It's about the thought and love it represents.

Harrykanesrightsock · 25/09/2018 07:31

£125 I never wear it now but have been married 21 years. I wear an eternity ring with my wedding ring.

Aria2015 · 25/09/2018 07:32

£3500, I do love it. It's a lot of money but it equates to under £1 a day if I divide it by the number days since I got it. So when I think of it like that it's not too bad Wink.

TheHulksPurplePanties · 25/09/2018 07:34

Free. My grandmothers wouldn't fit her finger anymore because of arthritis, so she gave it to my DH so he could propose. She'd worn it for 60 years and it's 3 carats, so he was quite happy to "recycle" it.

Jemimafuckingpuddleduck · 25/09/2018 07:36

Mr original engagement ring was 3400 and my wedding ring was 800! They were absolutely beautiful and seen me through many a deployment and hard time as my husband is forces, devastating though I lost them a few years back (and I still cant say that out loud without my eyes filling up!!) I have a a lovely new engagement ring, which I love and is the 1st thing I have been able to put on my finger and it’s felt like it should be there but it’s not the same and I still feel quite sad when I look at it! We have moved house now, redecorated various times, had so many stuff culls but a bit of me never gives up looking for them and wonders, as they were lost together, whether they are just waiting to be found somewhere!!

WipsGlitter · 25/09/2018 07:37

About £7000. It's gorgeous.

Themidnightcircus · 25/09/2018 07:42

My first was 380 quid. Very unusual and not traditional... diamonds and white gold. The next was 500.. but I got fed up and had it remodelled. I'm currently sporting a 0.5 carat platinum number... valued at 3k but I bought it for 500.

AfterSchoolWorry · 25/09/2018 07:42

4 k

Adversecamber22 · 25/09/2018 07:44

Together over twenty years a quick google shows current price at 3.5k from the same jeweller. Back then it was just under a thousand.

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 25/09/2018 07:45

It was £1000 from samara james, and I love it!

Justletmego · 25/09/2018 07:47

My ring has its only policy, but I know for sure my DH is just glad he didn’t wait a few more years as he aimed the price on the whole “3x your monthly salary” line and we had a very large change in our circumstances.

grannyscobwebs · 25/09/2018 07:59

I'm shocked that so many of you know how much it cost?! Did you ask?

NonaGrey · 25/09/2018 08:00

I was there when it was bought, we chose it together granny. It’s not unusual.

CountFosco · 25/09/2018 08:02

£1800 20 years ago. But cost per wear very cheap!

Omeletteandbeans · 25/09/2018 08:06

£50 - Argos's very finest!

SkinnywannabeKBH · 25/09/2018 08:09

I have no idea and no desire to find out how much it was. I absolutely adore it and love that OH picked it himself.

Waitingonasmiley42 · 25/09/2018 08:10

grannyscobwebs I picked it!
