Inspired by a thread about hygiene - carpets in kitchens and toilets, I thought it could be interesting to recall some of the diabolical tat from the past.

Firstly this sins up my childhood

I haven’t read all the posts. I love the drinks trolley on the first page and have been after one for a while.

The thing is, some of these things that we laugh at now are what we once longed for.

Rachelsholiday that is positively tasteful compared to this Pyrex horror which awaited us on the dinner table every night

Well, the gravy boat and saucer, and a butter dish and two casserole dishes, all still with lids. The dinner plates all got broken .

The pattern is called autumn glory, seems to be a lot of it still about on eBay.

We had that in our holiday home. Actually we had most of this tat tasteful stuff.

Skinny jeans that you sewed yourself into, teamed up with white socks and black patent leather heels

It's a balaclava I need - a full body one.

Balaclavas always make me think of Billy Connelly's auntie who knitted him one which was off centre!

Same with the mittens with the too short string!

I've got skinny jeans with ankle zips in my wardrobe & I remember wearing a stonewashed pair like that when I was 12 in 1989!

Also I wore rara skirts & now own a couple of skirts with frills.

I first wore hoodies aged 13 in the acid house days and still wear hoodies now!
