Inspired by a thread about hygiene - carpets in kitchens and toilets, I thought it could be interesting to recall some of the diabolical tat from the past.

I haven’t read all the posts. I love the drinks trolley on the first page and have been after one for a while.

morningconstitutional2017 · 19/08/2018 09:42

The thing is, some of these things that we laugh at now are what we once longed for.

PenelopeShitStop · 19/08/2018 10:05

Rachelsholiday that is positively tasteful compared to this Pyrex horror which awaited us on the dinner table every night

Maybeicanhelp · 19/08/2018 10:39

Penelope, I still have mine!

Well, the gravy boat and saucer, and a butter dish and two casserole dishes, all still with lids. The dinner plates all got broken Sad.

The pattern is called autumn glory, seems to be a lot of it still about on eBay.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 19/08/2018 11:12

We had that in our holiday home. Actually we had most of this tat tasteful stuff.

Who'dve thought our parents were so 'on trend' back in the day?

IjustbelieveinMe · 19/08/2018 12:48

This...
Felicity "Stretch"
Smokey Robinson "I don't care what they think about me"
Felicity "and relax"
Smokey "I don't care what they sayy"
Felicity "stretchhhh"
Smokey "I don't care what they think if you're leaving"
Felicity "and relax"
Smokey "I'm gonna beg you to stay"
Felicity "stretcccccch"
Smokey "I don't care if they start to avoid me"
Felicity "and relax"

You get the idea...

How about a Ra-Ra skirt to go with those leg warmers.

TornFromTheInside · 19/08/2018 17:22

Nice, but my hairy legs won't be able to carry off the skirt.

Puffball
Peplum
Scrunchies

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 19/08/2018 17:37

Pencil/tube skirts that you couldn't walk in - usually in neon yellow or pink

Skinny jeans that you sewed yourself into, teamed up with white socks and black patent leather heels

Big big permed hair. The bigger the better

I ❤️ the 80s

Vitalogy · 19/08/2018 17:37

These look like the new and improved version Confused they'd cover them up. Smile

TornFromTheInside · 19/08/2018 18:17

It's a balaclava I need - a full body one.

OP posts:
IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 19/08/2018 18:23

Balaclavas always make me think of Billy Connelly's auntie who knitted him one which was off centre!

Same with the mittens with the too short string!

And now I'm off wetting myself! 😂😂

Vitalogy · 19/08/2018 18:24

If you've got it flaunt it I say Torn

TornFromTheInside · 19/08/2018 18:32

If I had it, I would!

Vitalogy · 19/08/2018 18:34

I don't believe you haven't. Smile

TornFromTheInside · 19/08/2018 18:41

Never had one of these but fancied one!

I've got skinny jeans with ankle zips in my wardrobe & I remember wearing a stonewashed pair like that when I was 12 in 1989!

Also I wore rara skirts & now own a couple of skirts with frills.

I first wore hoodies aged 13 in the acid house days and still wear hoodies now!

Vitalogy · 19/08/2018 18:53

Oh, you're pictureless.

Vitalogy · 19/08/2018 18:55

You gone up to your photo limit again?

TornFromTheInside · 19/08/2018 18:58

uh oh, it was there before!
I think the Mumsnet Gods have been disturbed.

You'll probably get a strongly worded email from MN for hogging the photo posting capacity. Now I'm wondering what the photo was?
