Inspired by a thread about hygiene - carpets in kitchens and toilets, I thought it could be interesting to recall some of the diabolical tat from the past.

Couldn't afford 'owt like that. We had something like this... I think one kid had one for the entire street to borrow off him!

And one of these to dispense loose leaf tea

Oh these!... you'd have to cast a net far and wide to find 'em now.

The sitting Pierrot lamp. Hideous.

And this 'novelty' pickled onion jar! We had one of these but don't recall him looking quite so...ugly.

I don't know what's more sinister - the Pierrot lamp, or pickled onions (I happen to like them though!)

That pickle jar looks like a scrotum.

I remember wearing what we called a 'paper jacket' (called this because the material was so thin?!)

Mine I think was black with white collar, cuffs and waistband, about like this

And also I had a fur fabric jacket I called my teddy bear jacket!

My parents also have this set in a cabinet

I can remember wearing a straight jacket - don't remember much after that, I think the sedative kicked in.
Next thing I remember was waking up in this ward with your rest of you lunatics

That metallic tea set would play havoc with my fillings

Oh my goodness! I got that gold tea set for a wedding present. It was so awful we exchanged it for something nicer. Fortunately the gift giver was unlikely to visit us.

My best friend had a stars and stripes paper jacket. It was mint!

Love this thread!! I was 13 in 1990 and I remember my prize fave outfit was neon bermudas and a splinter tshirt, very similar to this picture!

Who also rembers Joe Bloggs and Naf Naf. Seriously cringeworthy 🙄
