Inspired by a thread about hygiene - carpets in kitchens and toilets, I thought it could be interesting to recall some of the diabolical tat from the past.

Which reminds me of Budgie written by HRH Sarah Fergusson

What are Flashy Flickers? Confused DD 10 thinks it's something to do with a YouTube channel she watches! 😂

Vitalogy · 18/08/2018 20:57

Victoria Plum, written by newsreader extraordinaire Angela Rippon I didn't know that. Loved Victoria Plum. I had a Victoria Plum soap that I kept until there was no fragrance left, too nice to use.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 18/08/2018 20:58

It has (OLAY) in tiny writing.

ProgressPenguin · 18/08/2018 20:59

Did the soap have the sort of plastic picture on it that ended up staying bigger than the actual bar of soap?

Hushnownobodycares · 18/08/2018 20:59

Trying to get these to do the tricks shown in the TV ad wasted weeks and weeks. The nylon kept getting tangled...

These got banned at school. No idea why. Nobody there ever broke their wrist...

What a fab thread! Brought back loads of memories.

Does anyone remember Touch Tapestry? Kind of like painting with numbers but with wool that you pushed into little holes. I had one of a Rose which I never quite finished....oh...and...Spirograph, I used to spend hours on that making those trippy patterns.

Hushnownobodycares · 18/08/2018 21:04

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks

It was basically a torch you could feed (probably very expensive) cartoon strips into and project them wherever you wished. Good times.

TornFromTheInside · 18/08/2018 21:04

I could not find an actual old Ulay - but that used to be the name - Oil of Ulay - before they changed it to Olay. I can remember it being Ulay.

Hushnow Yep...remember those things very well...OUCH! Banned at ours too.

Vitalogy · 18/08/2018 21:05

@ProgressPenguin, I think it did have a transfer sticker on it, although I didn't use it and I can't remember what happened to it. That reminds me of Imperial Leather soap with the sticker. Friend used to have it at her house, I thought it was the posh soap Smile Years later I used to buy it but always pulled the sticker off at the start as it used to irritate me else Confused

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 18/08/2018 21:08

I must have missed those Hushnow.

Sissyjd · 18/08/2018 21:09

Fuzzy Felts!!!! 😁

ProgressPenguin · 18/08/2018 21:10

I’m reminded now of the View Master, think I had a Perishers thingy to look at. Good times

What the eff is that, Torn?

TornFromTheInside · 18/08/2018 21:22

You flipped the top bit (in his hand) and all the other would 'tumble' in sequence thereafter, then you flipped it back, and they'd tumble again.

Hard to explain, but don't know the name of it in order to find a YouTube clip.

I had a Viewmaster with Roadrunner and Dracula and Frankenstein.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 18/08/2018 21:30

I had one of those things too!

Numbkinnuts · 18/08/2018 21:32

We had a can opener attached to the kitchen wall
