The twaddle continues ......

OP posts:
PrairieOyster · 14/11/2010 20:21

Actually that may be Episode 6...

MrsLucasNorth · 14/11/2010 20:26

I bought the dvd the other week and there's only 3 episodes on the 2 discs - I thought there were more (it started while I was on hols so recorded the first couple but never got round to watching them).
How many eps were there altogether then?

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 14/11/2010 20:29

The scene from Ghost was what made me lose interest in TwitterLucas. Old TwitterLucas would have made it very funny (and not a little suggestive). New TeenageTwitterLucas made it a predictable smutfest. (Worries that his spout would be floppy? Oh pur-lease).

MrsLN, I haven't seen Strikeback yet - I'm sure I would love him in the show but I thought he was a bit... overt. But perhaps I should give him the benefit of the doubt, having read some of his recent tweets. If I ever get to see Strikeback I'm sure I will be trying to flirt with him too :)

I'm tink_jane on there, btw...

Bodenbabe · 14/11/2010 20:32

Flowers, me too!! That was the moment he changed. I swear someone else has taken over his tweets. He was so funny before - not now. Well, not much. I really miss OldTwitterLucas :(

MrsLucasNorth · 14/11/2010 20:33

Haven't done any flirting with JP, seems a bit redundant until I've actually watched the whole thing. I believe a second series is planned for next year.

Flowers - I agree that the spout innuendo was going a step too far, but thought it started out quite promisingly!

PrairieOyster · 14/11/2010 20:36

I hadn't really noticed any difference..?

There were 6 x 45min episodes of Strike Back but they were shown in pairs back to back and have been edited together into three 90min episodes on the DVD. I don't know why they did it like this, perhaps to give the option to do one episode a week.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 14/11/2010 20:37

Ah, Bodenbabe. As I sit here by the fire, I can see .

OP posts:
Bodenbabe · 14/11/2010 20:39

Prairie, no difference in Twiter Lucas, you mean?! He used to be suggestively flirty and stare/smile at you and no more - but now he just makes childish innuendo and sounds more like someone from a Carry On film (not sure if you know what those are?)

PrairieOyster · 14/11/2010 20:40

Unfortunately it seems that SB series 2 is a victim of The Hobbit news. According to Elaine Pyke from Sky who commissioned Strike Back, RA will be in there somehow, but it seems that he will need to be written out and replaced with new characters. Sad but true...first Lucas - then John Porter...

PrairieOyster · 14/11/2010 20:42

Yes I mean no change in TwitterLucas that I've noticed, but will look more closely now...!

Yes I am familiar with the Carry On films...!!!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 14/11/2010 20:43

Or, Boden, do you think we're so traumatised and disorientated by Lucas' demise that we're seeing a difference which isn't actually there? (Although I still think not. To me it seems exactly as you say. TwitterLucas was once rather arch, flirty and suggestive and now sounds like Sid James).

OP posts:
Bodenbabe · 14/11/2010 20:45

Oh Flowers, that is extremely thuddable!! You realise he is looking at me at 3", don't you? I've avoided a lot of N&S vids from not having seen it yet but that was just byoooooooooootiful. Does he ever lose the sideburns though?

Prairie, no sooner did I mention it than he presented more evidence - he just asked someone "knickers still on?" Ewwwwwwwww.

MrsLucasNorth · 14/11/2010 20:46

That's crappy news 'Prairie' - bloody Tolkien!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 14/11/2010 20:46

I think we have to face the fact that if The Hobbit does well (and it must be certain that it will), it'll lead to more film work and little or no telly work. Oh doom.

Phew, I got taken prisoner by RL. I am so glad to be back and catch up. I was having withdrawal symptoms.

I thoughly endorse what has been said about Lovelace. Although the Wikipedia entry for Clarissa paints a surprisingly sympathetic portrait of him. I think we have to go back to the book to make up our minds.

Maybe there are hints at the syphilis question in there too.

All the same , the effect of that voice, saying those words in that tone and it's like...but enough of that.

I do know one really bad thing he made me do --I went and ordered that darn 10 CD audiobook. I only dare order one more as it will arrive before the Cornwell. Don't want the name appearing so often on my purchases that it becomes noticeable. So which Georgette heyer is the very best? In-ear RA is so addictive.

Tragic PS. For some reason that Bad to the Bone clip won't load for me any more. And it was a masterpiece.

MrsLucasNorth · 14/11/2010 20:48

And he'll probably be relocating to LaLaLand...

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 14/11/2010 20:48

Indeed it is, Boden, but I would remind you that Mr Thornton is mine, all mine, so you may look but not touch. And he always has the sideburns so you wouldn't like him anyway.

I'll offer you Monet if you like.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 14/11/2010 20:51

Nor will Flowers' fireside smouldering vid. That one was vetoed by Sony. At this rate there won't be anything left to watch.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 14/11/2010 20:52

MrsLN - My greatest fear. He's virtually my neighbour here. What if he moves away?

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 14/11/2010 20:53

Can I lick your pavement first, Flowers?

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 14/11/2010 20:53

Theresa - I suspect it's copyright ishoos. You need to book a flight to the UK pronto.

OP posts:
ASmallBunchofFlowers · 14/11/2010 20:55

Wouldn't advise it, Theresa. Standard of street cleaning here is pretty poor.

OP posts:
Bodenbabe · 14/11/2010 20:56

No Flowers, I really think he has changed. I was going to use the exact example of Sid James, funnily enough. Mind you, I only started following him about 3 weeks ago so maybe he always used to be like that?

Prairie, oh no, I was so looking forward to Strikeback 2!! I adore Tolkein but am still cross at it. I wouldn't be so cross if he had played Aragorn instead of Thorin - I am so in love with book-version Aragorn it's not true. Viggo Mortensen was very lovely but RA would've been so much better. I really identified with Eowyn.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 14/11/2010 20:57

So I can lick your pavement, Flowers?
